Enjoy improved cellular phone reception throughout your house with the zBoost YX510 signal booster system from Wi-Ex. The system uses an outdoor antenna to receive signals from your provider's tower, and relays them via a coaxial cable to an indoor amplifier base unit.

Mount the outdoor antenna near the spot where you get the best reception. Orient it towards the direction where the signal is strongest, which will point towards your service provider's cell phone tower. The antenna's omni-directional design means you can position it to receive signals from multiple towers if your household has more than one cell phone provider.

The indoor base unit sends the incoming cell phone signals throughout your home. It also receives signals from your cell phone, and relays them back to the outdoor antenna for transmission to the cell tower. You'll experience reduced dropped calls and dead zones, and your phone range can be extended up to 10 times the signal strength. You'll also get improved battery life from your phone as it won't have to work as hard to find a good signal.

The system works with multiple phones simultaneously, so everyone in the house can get better reception. The zBoost YX510 system is compatible with all cellular phones and carriers, with the exception of Nextel.

Features

Overview: The Wi-Ex YX510-CEL/PCS is a cell phone signal extender for use in your home or office. The unit extends cell phone range (up to 10 times the signal strength), improving the signal strength for both voice and data. Battery life is improved because the phone doesn't work as hard to find a good signal. The unit reduces dropped calls and dead zones, and works with multiple phones simultaneously.

Basic Operation: The signal antenna captures the signal and sends it to the amplifier. Once the signal is boosted, the base unit antenna repeats the signal and transmits it inside the home, creating a "Cell Zone."

Coverage: The YX510 is designed to cover up to 3000 square feet. With optional upgrades, coverage can be increased up to 10,000 square feet.

Compatibility: The dual band system (CEL 800MHz and PCS 1900 MHz) works with most phones and most carriers. Note: The unit is not compatible with iDEN, Nextel, SMR, or ESMR frequency services.

Design: The YX-510 consists of a small base unit with an attached 7" antenna, a larger, 16" signal antenna, and 50 feet of RG6 cable. The system is powered by an AC adapter (3.6V/2A).

Wireless Operation: There is no physical connection to your phone. The system operates wirelessly.

LED Signal Indicators: There are three LEDs on the top of the base unit. These LEDs glow solid or flash in various colors to indicate operation status.

Installation:

  • Base Unit: For the widest possible signal reception, the base unit should be mounted near the middle of a room, or on an interior wall. It can be placed on a desk, tabletop, or shelf. You can also wall-mount the base unit, using the integrated bracket. It is recommended that the base unit be installed at least 4 feet above the floor, or at about the height of the cell phone when it is typically in use. The base unit should be installed so that the attached antenna can be pointed toward the ceiling.
  • Signal Antenna: The signal antenna should be mounted as high as possible, and with at least 15 feet of vertical separation from the base unit. If the distance between the base unit and the signal antenna exceeds 50 feet, you will need to purchase additional coaxial cable. Total cable length should not exceed 70 feet unless an upgraded signal antenna is purchased. A signal antenna mounting bracket is supplied. Three locations are suggested:
    • Easiest: inside beside a window where you can receive signal
    • Good Performance: outside near a window where you can receive signal
    • Best Performance: outside or in your attic where you get the best signal

Note: If the signal antenna is installed outside, it must be grounded to protect you against lightning strikes during a lightning storm. It is recommended that you install the YX012 Wi-Ex Outdoor Installation and Grounding kit. In addition, a drip loop should be created with the coaxial cable at the point where the cable enters the building through an outside wall.

SUPERB Product!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When I purchased this item, I had no idea it would perform so admirably. (I also purchased the external antenna and grounding unit).

I live in a Verizon Wireless area where signal strength is horrible (zero to one bar inside my home). I installed the PCS antenna (I did NOT use the Yagi) on a mount on my roof, plugged in the unit, and now have FIVE bars!

Worked perfectly the first time with no hassles.

I also installed the grounding unit, which I highly advise, especially in areas prone to lightning. If you do, remember you should also drive an EIGHT-FOOT ground rod and connect the antenna properly using approved methods and connectors to ensure low resistance.

One more thing: I have extensive technical experience, professional installation tools, and hi-end hardware and so in all fairness, the physical installation might be a bit more extensive than it might seem for the average person, especially if you need to trim feedline length or extend it.

But all-in-all, this unit performed as well or better than expected and I HIGHLY recommend it.

One more thing: I sent the company an email and received a reply within an hour! I guess you could telephone and do even better.

Again, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

This thing is a dream come true. I seriously just stopped answering calls when I was in my house and just waited until I was either at work or on my way somewhere to call people back. I tried that little sticker signal booster that you put behind your battery but of course that didn't work. My roommate and I don't have a landline because we're in school and move like every year...and didn't feel like fighting over the phone. I promise it really does work. It's amazing. ZBoost has really saved my sanity!

This booster WORKS!

Living in the mountainous part of western MD near the PA and WV borders. My work cell (on Verizon) had marginal signal while my personal cell (US Cellular) had no signal at all at the house. Installed this booster along with the optional dual-band antenna in the attic. Total success! Both phones now have 4 bars. This setup is a lifesaver. Crutchfield folks were very helpful and informed on the equipment recommendations. Thanks!!
