About the Kenwood 1000-watt Dual 12" Bass Package
Add some bass to your ride
Add some bass to your ride
This Kenwood bass package includes a 1000-watt mono amplifier, two 12" subwoofers, and a ported dual 12" enclosure. Just add some wiring for a complete sub system that'll bring the thrill of powerful bass to your vehicle.
KAC-9106D mono sub amp
Kenwood's KAC-9106D mono amp punches out up to 1000 watts RMS to the two 12" subwoofers. Built-in low-pass and subsonic filters let you adjust the output so you'll get the best sound possible from these subs in the Sound Ordnance enclosure. And you can dial in up to 18 dB of bass boost if you want to fatten up the thump.
Two KFC-W3013PS 12" subwoofers
Each 4-ohm KFC-W3013PS Performance Series 12" sub handles up to 400 watts RMS, so two of them will work well with the KAC-9106D amplifier. The sub's diamond-array patterned cone resists flexing, for strong and clean bass notes. A tough rubber surround accommodates the extra-long cone excursion that pumps up the volume. And a dual vent cooling system makes sure the sub keeps running, even during long, loud jams.
Sound Ordnance dual 12" vented enclosure
Sound Ordnance's rugged Bass Bunker BB122-125V vented enclosure holds two 12" subwoofers, offering an internal volume of 1.36 cubic feet per chamber. This unloaded enclosure features high-grade, medium-density fiberboard construction, with sealed inner braces that help combat resonance by reducing vibrations.

KAC-9106D Amplifier
CEA-2006 Compliant: CEA-2006 is a system of testing and measurement for mobile audio amplifiers. This voluntary standard advocates a uniform method for measuring an amplifier's RMS power output and signal-to-noise ratio. The criteria for measuring power uses a DC input voltage of 14.4 volts and the RMS power output is measured into a 4Ω load, with 1% or less Total Harmonic Distortion plus noise (THD+N), and over a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (for full range amplifiers). Signal-to-Noise ratio is measured in weighted absolute decibels (dBA) at a reference of 1 watt into 4Ω. CEA-2006 standards allow consumers to compare car amplifiers and receivers under the same conditions (apples to apples). Using CEA-2006 criteria, the Kenwood KAC-9106D is rated at 500 watts RMS x 1 channel with a 76 dBA signal to noise ratio. The signal to noise ratio at the rated power output (not CEA-2006 conditions) is 100 dB.
2-Ohm Stable: The amplifier can also support a 2-ohm load; the 2-ohm power output is 1,000 watts RMS x 1 channel.
Cast Aluminum Heat Sink: The KAC-9106D utilizes a cast aluminum heat sink design to ensure the amplifier stays cool.
Protection circuitry: The amplifier features protection circuits that will turn the amp off in case of the following events:
- speaker wire short-circuits
- speaker output contacts ground
- unit malfunctions and DC is sent to speaker output
- the amp overheats
Power Indicator: When the amplifier is turned on the Power indicator (on top of the amp) lights up. This indicator turns off with the amplifier, and will turn off if the amplifier goes into protect mode.
Auto Turn-on: When using a speaker level input, the amp will turn on automatically when it senses the input signal.
Gain: To accommodate the varying range of signal levels from today's factory and aftermarket radios, the KAC-9106D features an adjustable gain control; 0.2-5.0 volts line level (RCA) and 4.0-12.0 volts speaker level.
Crossover: The built-in 24 dB/octave low-pass filter has a continuously variable crossover point; 50Hz to 200Hz. Because this is a subwoofer amp, the crossover is always engaged.
Infrasonic Filter: The 24 dB/octave Infrasonic Filter removes ultra-low frequencies that cannot be reproduced by most subwoofers. These frequencies do not become sound, but unnecessary oscillations which affect sound by causing distortion. These frequencies also waste amplifier power and can cause damage to speakers. The filter's crossover point is continuously variable from 20 Hz to 50 Hz.
Bass Boost: The bass boost is adjustable from 0-18dB at 40Hz.
Power Connections: The power and ground connections are 0.55" wide screw terminals. The remote turn-on screw terminal is 0.335" wide. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals. Spade connectors are recommended. The manual lists a minimum of 10 gauge wire for power and ground, but given the 120 amp fuse value and the current consumption specification of 65 amps, we recommend a 4 gauge wiring kit.
Speaker Outputs: There are two pair of 0.335" wide screw terminal speaker outputs; they are internally wired in parallel, making it easy to connect the two subwoofers. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals. Spade connectors are also recommended for the speaker wires.
Line Level Input: The line input is a pair of stereo RCA jacks.
Line Level Output: The amplifier has a pair of RCA line level outputs for feeding another amplifier; it is the same signal that is input through the RCA line inputs. The amplifier's crossover has no effect on the line level output signal.
Speaker Level Input: A wiring harness is included for the speaker level input.
Fuses: The amplifier uses three 40-amp ATO blade-type fuses.
Dimensions:
- Width: 13.1875"
- Height: 2.25"
- Depth: 7.575"
KFC-W3013PS Subwoofers
Cone: The KFC-W3013PS uses a polypropylene cone and rubber surround for added durability.
Heat Transfer System: A dual ventilation system design helps keep the motor structure cool, improving power handling and longevity.
Long Stroke Design: The pole piece has been extended to provide a more linear magnetic field for woofer operation. This lowers distortion and provides the woofer with better low frequency response.
Double Stacked Magnet: The stacked magnet assembly is used to create a powerful linear motor with increased excursion capability for superior bass output.
Spring Terminals: The spring post terminals on one side of the woofer connect to your amplifier's wiring. The posts will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.
BB122-175V Enclosure
Materials: The Sound Ordnance BB122-175V Bass Bunker is an unloaded, hatchback-style ported enclosure for two 12" subwoofers. It is constructed of 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard), covered in black carpet.
Internal Box Volume: The enclosure has two separate chambers, each with 1.615 cubic feet of airspace.
Terminals: The BB122-175V is equipped with two pair of spring-post speaker terminals, one for each chamber, mounted in the rear panel. The spring terminals will accept bare wire up to 10 gauge, pin connectors, and single banana plugs, but are spaced too far apart for dual banana plugs. Inside the enclosure, each set of terminals has an attached 24" length of speaker wire for connecting the subwoofer.
Brackets: Brackets for securing the enclosure to your vehicle are recommended.
Dimensions:
- Width: 32.75"
- Height: 15.125"
- Depth1: 15.875" (at the base)
- Depth2: 12.875" (at the top)
