This Alpine package includes a 500-watt mono amp, two 12" subs, and a Sound Ordnance sealed dual 12" enclosure that will all combine for some heavy low-frequency reinforcement in your vehicle. Just add some wiring, and you've got a complete system that will transform your music on the road.
MRP-M500 mono sub amp
Alpine's V-Power MRP-M500 mono amplifier drives your two subwoofer system with 500 watts RMS, with the sound quality that made Alpine famous. The thermal management system dissipates heat and saves power, so this amp will run reliably for years to come. The low-pass filter puts you in command of the frequencies that reach your subs, while the variable bass boost is armed with plenty of low-end punch. A subsonic filter prevents wasted energy by eliminating ultra-low bass, putting all the power where you need it.
Two SWE-1243 12" subwoofers
The 4-ohm SWE-1243 12" subwoofer handles up to 250 watts RMS, so this pair of subs makes a perfect match for the MRP-M500 amp. Alpine treats the two-layer pulp cone with Kevlar so it won't buckle or distort under heavy use, while the tough Santoprene rubber surround keeps your cone under control for more accurate bass. Extra venting maximizes air flow through your speaker, dissipating heat and increasing your sub's reliability. The heavy-gauge, stamped steel cage holds its shape through the most relentless pounding, so your bass stays tight.
Sound Ordnance dual 12" sealed enclosure
Sound Ordnance's rugged Bass Bunker BB122-100S sealed enclosure holds two 12" subwoofers and offers an internal volume of 1.035 cubic feet per chamber. This unloaded enclosure features high-grade, medium-density fiberboard construction, with sealed inner braces that help combat resonance by reducing vibrations.
Important Note: The amplifier in this bass package is a good match for the included sub(s), but it's still important to set the amp's gain controls properly to avoid distortion. This diagram shows you how to wire up the sub(s) in this package.

Alpine 500-watt Dual 12" Bass Package Reviews
Average Customer Review:
Alpine 500-watt Dual 12" Bass Package
This package is the real deal! i have used alpine speakers in cars before but never the subs, installed them in my 2001 jetta and it kicks HARD! hard enought that i have to leave it at about 75percent output on the amp and 25percent on my Deck for fear of my rear view mirror falling off the window. all in all very impressed for the cost performance ratio! A good buy!

Power Supply: The MRP-M500 amplifier's power supply uses MOSFETs to convert DC battery voltage to the higher DC voltages needed for high power. It supplies positive and negative voltages around 0V, rather than around 6V as with conventional single-polarity power supplies. The result is higher power levels and a dynamic range wider by as much as 10dB.
Inputs: The amplifier offers both line-level and speaker-level inputs for 2 channels. The supplied speaker-level input harness allows you to connect this amplifier to a receiver without preamp outputs; aftermarket or factory. The speaker level inputs will accept the output from a high powered radio.
Terminal Covers: The amp comes with two plastic covers that protect and insulate the RCA, power, and speaker connections. Four supplied machine screws attach the covers to the amplifier.
Low Pass Filter: The amp is equipped with a 50-200Hz variable low-pass filter with a slope of 24dB/octave. This being a mono subwoofer amp, the crossover is always engaged.
Subsonic Filter: This amp utilizes a subsonic filter at 15Hz to eliminate super low frequencies that can rob power and damage speakers. The subsonic filter operates at all times, and cannot be turned off.
Bass EQ: The Bass EQ circuit provides a variable boost (0-12dB) at 50 Hz.
Left Side Of Amplifier:
- GND (ground): gold-plated screw terminal, 0.33" wide
- Battery: gold-plated screw terminal, 0.33" wide
- Remote: gold-plated screw terminal, 0.33" wide
- Speaker Output: gold-plated screw terminal, 0.33" wide
Note: Alpine recommends 8 gauge power and ground wire (minimum).
Right Side Of Amplifier:
- Line Inputs: 1 pair of gold-plated stereo RCA jacks
- Speaker Level Input: Molex plug input for supplied 4-pin harness
Woven Fiber/Kevlar Reinforced Pulp Cone: This Alpine Type-E subwoofer features a two-piece parabolic woven fiber and Kevlar reinforced pulp cone. Kevlar adds strength and tear resistance to the woofer cone while maintaining the benefits of a pulp cone design. The lightweight cotton fiber design provides a faster and more dynamic response from the woofer.
Santoprene Rubber Surround: The high-excursion, tapered half-roll, injection molded Santoprene rubber surround is durable and resistant to the elements, resulting in a very reliable performance. The surround is specially designed to resist deformation that is common in woofers with wide surrounds. This design gives the surround more control over the woofer cone to reduce distortion and possible driver failure.
Progressive Nomex Spiders: This subwoofer utilizes a Progressive Nomex spider for stability and mechanical durability. The custom progressive roll gives the woofer a longer, more linear stroke with maximum centering and restoring force. Special edge control design and Nomex construction provide excellent tear resistance, strength and long-term reliability.
Voice Coil: The Alpine SWE-1243 features a 4-layer single voice coil made from 180-degree high-temperature wire on an aluminum bobbin.
Airflow Optimized Extended/Vented Pole: This SWE-1243 features an extended pole piece which provides optimum airflow for the woofer.
Custom High Strength Steel Basket: The frame is custom stamped from high strength steel.
Speaker Terminals: This Alpine Type-E subwoofer features a pair of heavy duty push-terminals on one side of the woofer's basket that will accommodate up to 8-gauge speaker wire.
Tinsel Leads: The Type-E subwoofer uses insulated 16-gauge stranded tinsel leads.
Gasket Cover: Alpine uses a Concealed Mount Gasket System to cover the mounting screws for a clean look. The black rubber gasket ring comes already installed on the woofer and needs to be removed before drilling the mounting screws (not supplied). The gasket ring then snaps back into place once the woofer is mounted.
Protective Grille: The Alpine SWE-1243 Type-E subwoofer comes supplied with a high impact protective grille. The black plastic grille snaps onto the woofer without the need for any additional hardware. The rubber gasket cover must be removed when using the grille. The grill also hides the mounting screws, as well as protects the woofer. The grille adds 0.9425" to the woofer's height (1.6875").
Materials: The Sound Ordnance BB122-100S Bass Bunker is an unloaded, hatchback-style sealed enclosure for a dual 12" subwoofers. It is constructed of 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard), covered in black carpet.
Internal Box Volume: The enclosure has two separate chambers, each with 1.035 cubic feet of airspace.
Terminals: The BB122-100S is equipped with two pairs of spring-post speaker terminals, one for each chamber, mounted in the rear panel. The spring terminals will accept bare wire, pin connectors, and single banana plugs, but are spaced too far apart for dual banana plugs. Inside the enclosure, each set of terminals has an attached 18" length of speaker wire for connecting the subwoofer.
Brackets: Brackets for securing the enclosure to your vehicle are recommended.
