Q-Logic

Our take on the Q-Logic Type 3 Enclosure for Square 8" Subwoofer

Finding a box for a square subwoofer used to be a problem, but not any more. This package includes a Q-Logic square 8" subwoofer mounting baffle and a Q-Logic hatchback box. Unscrew the round baffle already mounted on the box, screw on the square baffle (hardware included), and you've got a Type 3 box ready for your slammin' square 8" sub. Keep the original baffle, in case you want to swap in a round 10" sub someday.

We stay on top of new products and technologies to help people make informed choices.

Features

Compatibility: This enclosure is originally designed to work with a single 10" woofer requiring a round cutout. The additional B-S08SQ baffle can replace the original baffle, allowing you to mount an 8" square woofer. The enclosure has an internal volume of 1.00 cubic feet (Type 2 for a 10" woofer and Type 3 for an 8" woofer), and can be configured as a sealed or ported enclosure.

Materials: The box is constructed of 5/8" MDF (medium-density fiberboard), with a second MDF panel (3/4" thick) adhered to the front panel to provide the mounting surface for the woofer. The additional baffle is also made of 3/4" MDF. MDF resists flexing and has anti-resonant qualities.

Design: For strength, Q-Logic uses a full dado groove on the front, back, top, and bottom panels. The side panels are glued, then locked into these grooves. The edges of the front, back, top and bottom use mitered joints, so there's 50% more surface area for the special glue that bonds them. The side and front panel are framed with a hard plastic frame. The side panels of the box are recessed 0.5" from the outer edges of the frame, while the front baffle is recessed a minimum of 7/8". The trapezoidal shape of the enclosure better utilizes trunk space by allowing you to put the enclosure against the angled back of the back seat. The enclosure is covered with durable gray carpet.

QXs-Ring: The QXs-Ring is a multi-diameter woofer mounting adapter which also seals the woofer into the enclosure. The QXs-Ring has a series of rings around the outside to help center the woofer, and hash marks to help align the woofer's mounting holes. If the mounting diameter of the woofer is 9-1/8" or less, the woofer can be installed without trimming the ring. For woofers with a larger mounting diameter, a portion of the QXs-Ring can be trimmed off, allowing for an extra 1/4" in woofer mounting diameter. Note: The QXs-Ring can only be used with the round cutout.

Interchangeable Baffle: The original front baffle can be removed and replaced with the B-S08SQ baffle for 8" woofers with square cutouts. Eight Allen-head screws can be removed, enabling you to remove the front baffle. A 4mm Allen wrench is required to loosen/tighten the screws.

Spring Posts: The spring posts, located on the left side of the enclosure, will accept bare wire, pin connectors, banana plugs, and dual banana plugs. The enclosure is equipped with a 30" speaker wire for connecting the woofer to the inside terminals.

Brackets: Brackets (not included) are recommended for more secure mounting.

The type of bass you get from your component subwoofer doesn't depend on the woofer alone. You'll need a strong, tightly constructed enclosure for optimum subwoofer performance.
