The 28-300mm Di can be used with both digital SLR cameras and conventional 35mm autofocus SLR film cams. It provides an impressive 465mm ultra telephoto focal length when used with an APS-C sensor digital camera. Photographers will appreciate the versatility this zoom lens offers, from portraits to outdoor sports and wildlife photography. Low dispersion and hybrid aspheric glass elements give you superior optical performance and help fight lens flare. The supplied lens hood allows better shooting in bright light. Features Overview: The Tamron AF 28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) Macro (Model A061N) is an accessory lens designed for use with Nikon film and digital SLR cameras. It has the standard Nikon bayonet-type mount. This high-powered zoom lens allows you to take indoor snapshots using the wide angle, photograph far-away objects using the telephoto setting, and close-ups of flowers or small objects using its macro capability. Compatibility: This lens is compatible with Nikon standard mount film and digital SLR cameras. It will also fit the Nikon D40 and D40x cameras, however, because it does not have a built-in AF motor, it cannot be used in the Auto Focus mode. It should only be used in the MF (manual focus) mode. Zoom: When used on a digital SLR camera body with an APS-C size image sensor, the zoom yields approximately the 35mm equivalent of a 44-465mm zoom range. Di: Tamron Di (Digitally integrated) lenses are designed to fit 35mm film cameras and digital SLR cameras with full size and APS-C size image sensors. Optical Features: This lens has the following optical features: Extra Refractive Glass (XR): using of XR (Extra Refractive Index) glass, the overall size (diameter and barrel length) of the lens was reduced, while maintaining the same aperture values as previous lenses Aspherical Elements (ASL): Tamron's exclusive Hybrid Aspherical elements provide image quality using a compact lens Low Dispersion Glass (LD): Low Dispersion (LD) glass elements reduce the effect of chromatic aberration, a form of optical noise, and increases image sharpness Internal Focusing (IF): Tamron's Internal Focusing System enhances lens maneuverability and reduces the Minimum Focus Distance (MFD) throughout its entire focal length Lens Hood: A bayonet-type lens hood is provided with the lens. The lens hood prevents stray light from entering the lens, which can be harmful to the picture. When not in use, the lens hood can be inverted and stored on the lens. The lens hood adds approximately 1-3/16" length to the lens. Note: Using the camera's built-in flash with the lens hood in place can cause shadows to appear on the image. Focus Modes: The lens can be used in either Automatic or Manual Focus modes. When you switch the camera to manual focus, you can focus on your subject by rotating the focus ring on the lens. Manual Zoom: You can manually zoom in or out by rotating the zooming ring of the lens while viewing your subject through the camera's viewfinder and compose your image at the chosen focal length. Zoom Lock: This lens is equipped with a zoom lock switch to fix the lens in the widest position (shortest barrel length). This prevents the lens barrel from extending while the camera is hanging around your neck. It can also prevent the lens from changing focal length during a long exposure when the camera is at a severe angle. Specifications Focal Length: 28-300mm Maximum Aperture: F/3.5 (wide)-F/6.3 (telephoto) Angle of View: 75° - 8° Lens Construction: 13 groups/15 elements Minimum Focusing Distance: 19.3" (0.49 meters) Max Magnification Ratio: 1:2.9 Filter Size: 62mm Length: Wide: 3.614" Telephoto: 6.741" With lens caps: 4.068" (for storage) Diameter: 2.887" Weight: 14.8 ounces Product Reviews Review this product Thanks for taking the time to share your experiences about this product. I returned this leans and ordered the 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD For Nikon. 1 out of 1 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? I was fed up with changing lenses and getting dust on the inside shutter of the camera. Having a lens with the wide angle and telephoto is perfect for the scenery pictures and the close-up extreme skiing action shots I was looking for. The only draw backs are the F/6.3 on telephoto shots with low lighting, and sometimes when the camera is set on automatic with the flash, the pictures get washed out. This has forced me to learn more about shutter speeds and apertures though. 15 out of 18 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
