About the AudioQuest SUB-3
AudioQuest's SUB-3 cable features the finest-quality materials to help your high-performance powered subwoofer deliver extraordinarily clear, detailed bass. This triple-balanced cable features three identical conductors for clean signal transfer. Each conductor is a single, unbroken strand of 6.1% silver. Solid conductors eliminate electrical and magnetic interference that can add brittleness to the sound with multi-strand conductor cables.
Dielectric-Bias System
Most higher-end cables require a break-in period before they perform their best. A charge builds up in the insulation through continual use, increasing the efficiency of the cable. This charge can dissipate when the cable's not in use, giving you less than optimal performance until it builds up again.
AudioQuest's Dielectric-Bias System (DBS) eliminates this break-in period. A small battery pack attached to the cable polarizes the insulation with a 36-volt charge, giving you clear, expressive sound from your system every time you turn it on. This also helps eliminate the time delay that can create audio jitter.
Air tube insulation and shielding
Each conductor has its own insulating air tube, which prevents information smearing better than foam insulation. An additional layer of shielding virtually eliminates electronic noise, for the cleanest signal possible.
High-quality connectors eliminate the weakest link
The SUB-3 features RCA connectors made of silver-plated copper. Although this same material can cause high frequencies to sound edgy with full-range analog audio signals, it actually improves bass articulation when used in subwoofer cables. The connectors are fastened by cold welding — a process that uses high pressure and silver paste to minimize signal loss. By contrast, solder tends to impede the signal, and heating the copper conductor can negatively affect its performance.

Features
Sub-3 Series Subwoofer Cable: The AudioQuest/CinemQuest SUB-3 subwoofer cable uses three solid 6.1% Silver conductors inside PE Air Tubes. Solid conductors eliminate strand-interaction distortion. PE Air Tubes minimize information smearing caused by any solid or foam insulation. The 36V electrostatic field on the PE tubes almost eliminates remaining insulation induced distortion. Three conductors along with welded silver-plate, single-ended RCA plugs insure optimum performance while a 100% coverage shield insures noise-free performance. The Silver-plated plugs are welded to Sub-3 using 8,000 amperes.
Silver-Plated Copper (SPC): Silver-Plated Copper (SPC) provides superior performance for subwoofer audio frequencies. SPC enhances the articulation and intelligibility of low frequency information from your amplifier to your subwoofer.
Note: Do not use the Sub-3 subwoofer cable as a full range audio cable.
Dielectric-Bias System (DBS): All insulation slows down the signal on the conductor inside. When insulation is un-biased, it slows down parts of the signal differently, a big problem for very time sensitive multi-octave audio. AudioQuest's DBS creates a strong stable electrostatic field which saturates and polarizes (organizes) the molecules of the insulation. This minimizes both energy storage in the insulation and the multiple nonlinear time-delays. Sound appears from a surprisingly black background with unexpected detail and dynamic contrast. The DBS pack's batteries will last for years and a test button and LED allow for the occasional battery check.
Ground Connections: If you hear noticeable hum in your system after connecting your subwoofer, please attach the Sub-3 cable's ground leads to your audio gear. Some audio equipment have a ground (GND) connection on the back-panel, if not, attach the ground spade lugs to any screw on the equipment chassis of both the source and the subwoofer.
