Overview Details Customer Reviews Category Info Our take on the AudioQuest SUB-A by Kristen Schaub AudioQuest's cable designs come from years of in-house research and careful engineering, so it's no surprise that even their entry-level subwoofer cable is a strong performer. Enjoy clear, accurate bass from your powered subwoofer with the AudioQuest SUB-A. Solid conductors improve accuracy and clarity This cable features two identical conductors, one positive and one negative. Each of the conductors is a single, unbroken strand of long-grain copper. It has a simpler grain structure and fewer impurities than normal oxygen-free copper, so it can provide clearer sound. Solid conductors help eliminate electrical and magnetic interference that can add brittleness to the sound with multi-strand conductor cables. High-quality shielding, insulation, and connectors Both conductors are enclosed by a layer of double sided aluminum foil shielding to virtually eliminate electronic noise. The SUB-A cables feature brass RCA plugs with gold plating to guard against corrosion. AudioQuest attaches the connectors with its own specially formulated silver solder for efficient signal transfer. Features Overview: The Audioquest CinemaQuest Sub-A cable is a high-quality subwoofer interconnect that uses solid conductors that virtually eliminate distortion. The cable has a chassis ground wire on each end to prevent hum. Construction: The Sub-A uses identical solid Long-Grain Copper conductors for both the positive and negative to minimize distortion. The simpler grain structure and fewer impurities within Long-Grain Copper provide significantly clearer sound than normal OFHC (Oxygen-free High-Conductivity Copper). Gold-plated, high-conductivity plugs are attached with specially formulated AQ Solder. Chassis Ground Wires: On each end of the Sub-A cable are 8" ground wires, terminated with a spade connector. If a hum problem exists when your receiver/processor and subwoofer are connected to each other, you can attach the wires to the metal chassis of the subwoofer amp and to the chassis of the sending component. Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. The cable does a nice job of of transmitting the sound but I am not so sure that it is that much better than far less priced cables. I am sure there is a difference when put on instruments but the human ear is not that discrimininating. I am a HAM radio buff and I own some very expensive equiptment for trouble shooting problems. I tried some of the cables that I purchased and found that there was a slight difference, particularly in the ability to carry low frequency sound bursts. The difference was still quite small between a $90.00 cable and a $20.00 cable. I doubt anyone could tell the difference between them. The real difference is in looks. Few people want a $2000.00 system and dull, small diameter connection cables. I know better but I like for every thing to look like it matches the equiptment. I just think every thing looks better when it matches. 23 out of 25 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. I have mixed feelings about this product. It appears to be of very high quality, and features an external ground wire if you suffer with a 60Hz hum. I also have an inexpensive cable that seems to perform as well as this one. Any chain is only as strong as it's weakest link, so I'm using this connector. You will also need a Y connector on the sub end to make use of your powered subs' built in crossover adjustments. If the need arises for another, I'd likely go with one that features a built in Y for connector for use at the sub. It appears to be a good product, but for the cost it could be better.
