Solid cable engineering delivers solid bass

Enjoy clear, accurate bass from your powered subwoofer with AudioQuest's advanced SUB-X cable. AudioQuest takes their own innovative approach to cable design based on years of in-house research, carefully engineering their cables to transfer signals as faithfully as possible.

Cross section

Solid conductors improve accuracy and clarity

The cable features two identical conductors, one positive and one negative. Each of the conductors is a single, unbroken strand of 1.25% silver-plated copper. Solid conductors eliminate electrical and magnetic interference that can add brittleness to the sound with multi-strand conductor cables.

High-quality shielding, insulation, and connectors

Foam insulation surrounds the positive conductor to minimize information smearing. Both conductors are enclosed by an additional layer of shielding to virtually eliminate electronic noise. The SUB-X cables feature brass RCA plugs with gold plating to guard against corrosion. AudioQuest attaches the connectors with its own specially formulated silver solder for efficient signal transfer.

Product Highlights:

  • two silver-plated solid copper conductors (silver layer is 1.25% of total conductor)
  • foam insulation for positive conductor
  • 100% coverage shield for noise-free signal transfer
  • 24k gold-plated RCA connectors to resist corrosion
  • built-in ground wire with spade lugs
  • textile braid cable cover
  • warranty: 5 years
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

AudioQuest SUB-X

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered two of these cables for both of my subs, one cable works well the other one gave me fits. I had to send it back and resort to my monster cable for one of my subs. However Crutchfield's wonderful guarantee came through and I received a refund. The cable is alright it's AudioTech, so it's quality all the way, but I think I should have went with a more "top of the line" AudioTech cable.

Pros: AudioTech products are A1,can't go wrong.

Cons: I unfortunately got a faulty cable that would not work.

Typical Audioquest quality. Prior subwoofer connector produced audible hum. None with this subwoofer cable

Pros: Great quality at very reasonable price. Typical Audioquest attention to detail and quality. Additional grounding wire if needed

Cons: None that I see

It's just Ok, nothing great.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I really did not hear anything great from this cable. i tried a basic RCR cable and the SUB-X, no real difference. I never had any hum from my subwoofer before, so no real benefit to me to use Audioquest. I'd pass on Audioquest cables, over priced and you really don't get what you are paying for.

Pros: Crutchfield price is the best.

Cons: No real sound improvement. I expected a lot more, so a little let down.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Before purchasing this wire cable I tried a traditional one and noticed a unique difference. There is an absence of noise in the form of humming and hissing with this AudioQuest SUB-X component. It's worth it.

Pros: Better sound quality.

Cons: not sure yet.

worth the upgrade

Written by: bombadill from pittsburgh,Pa on December 30, 2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

a significant upgrade (surprisingly) from a previous highly rated sub cable. bass is tighter and louder with the same loudness level as before.

since i've previously used the silver coating on hdmi connectors I'm not too surprised at the improvement. Also I think the "less is more" approach works well with the Audioquest.

Pros: clarity and power

Cons: none

Speaker wires

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love these speaker cables. They were very easy to install. No need for wire cutters and no need to attach the ends, everything was pre configured.

Pros: They look great. I love that they don't look like the old speaker cables that always got knotted up.

Cons: None

You won't need wire strippers or banana plugs, just 2 quick plug ins with this
subwoofer cable and you're ready to go. My wife complains about the sub. shaking
through the walls of the house. The sub. and cable are doing their job. ;)

Solution to Sub Humming

Written by: Marsh Mello from Jacksonville, FL on December 2, 2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've been having sub-woofer hum problems for months now. I tried upgrading my cable to a
Monster SUB1000-16 Ultra Series THX 1000 but that did not resolve the issue. Then I tried
the AudioQuest SUB-X and voila! No more hum!

Awesome Cable

Got this for my 12 inch Klipsch subwoofer and it works great. Crisp and clear base.

solid & expensive

Written by: Thew from central California on February 21, 2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a very solid cable. The grounding wires help eliminate buzz, but unless you've got electrical interference you probably won't need them on the 2m version.
I got it when it was marked down - as usual Crutchfield was reliable and it arrived on my doorstop right when they said it would.
Bummer: at this list price it is not cheap.

Product Research

Sub-X Series Subwoofer Cable: The AudioQuest/CinemaQuest SUB-X subwoofer cable uses two identical solid 1.25% Silver conductors for positive and negative. Solid conductors eliminate any strand-interaction distortion. The subwoofer cable uses foam PE insulation to minimize information smearing, while the cable's 100% coverage shield insures noise-free performance. A gold-plated high-conductivity brass plug is attached to each end of the cable with specially formulated AudioQuest silver solder.

Silver-Plated Copper (SPC): Silver-Plated Copper (SPC) provides superior performance for subwoofer audio frequencies. SPC enhances the articulation and intelligibility of low frequency information from your amplifier to your subwoofer.

Note: Do not use the Sub-X subwoofer cable as a full range audio cable.

Ground Connections: If you hear noticeable hum in your system after connecting your subwoofer, please attach the Sub-X cable's ground leads to your audio gear. Some audio equipment have a ground (GND) connection on the back-panel, if not, attach the ground spade lugs to any screw on the equipment chassis of both the source and the subwoofer. Usually, this wire will not need to be connected.
