AudioQuest VDM-X

AudioQuest designed their VDM-X coaxial digital cable with three goals in mind: low distortion, low loss, and wide bandwidth. The cable features a solid 24-gauge copper center conductor with silver plating to improve high frequency performance. Foil wrap around the insulation and an additional layer of silver-plated braid shield the cable from external electronic interference that can degrade the signal.

You can use this cable with high-performance CD and DVD players, A/V receivers, digital-to-analog converters, and signal processors.

Product Highlights:

  • 3 meters (9.9 ft.)

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

A high quality 75 OHM cable. I have a longer run to my computer. No issues of any kind. I am using this with a USB device that outputs coaxial SPDIF.

Pros: Good quality cable.

Cons: None to date.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Used with monster DVI-HDMI connector to connect my lap top to my Denon Home theater to stream internet audio/video through my home theater. Seems to be quality product at reasonable cost and more than up to this task.

Pros: Relatively reasonably priced product, typical high audio-quest quality.

Cons: ?

Product Research

VDM-XR Series: AudioQuest/CinemaQuest VDM-XR Series cables are designed to minimize distortion across an extremely wide bandwidth. The 75Ω cable acts like a conduit which has to carry relatively low frequency analog video (Composite, up to 4.2MHz), or super sensitive digital audio (SP/DIF, up to 24.576 MHz), or uncompressed High Definition video (HDTV, up to 750 MHz), or cable TV/broadband (CATV, up to 1 GHz). The VDM series cables are designed to carry all these signals with minimum interference from the cable.

Construction: The VDM-XR uses a 24 AWG, Silver-Plated center conductor insulated with Hard Cell Foam (HCF). Silver-plating greatly improves high frequency performance. Nitrogen Injected HCF reduces distortion caused by the insulating material and helps maintain a stable 75-ohm. The combination foil and Silver-Plated braid shield provides 100% protection coverage and lower distortion. Gold-Plated RCA plugs are professionally attached with superior AudioQuest solder.

Directional Arrows: When using the VDM-XR cable for digital audio, please be sure to observe the directional arrows (input or output arrow on each connector). Video is not sensitive to directionality.

Nylon Jacket: The AudioQuest/CinemaQuest VDM-XR Series cable features a multi-color nylon braided flexible jacket.
