AudioQuest Vodka

If you want to take advantage of the very latest HDMI features, and enjoy top-notch performance from all your high-def gear, you should take a close look at AudioQuest Vodka. It's an ideal match for your high-end home theater gear, providing superior signal transfer to ensure that you get every ounce of performance you paid for. And with its "High Speed with Ethernet" rating, it supports the most cutting-edge features available today, and prepares you for what's on the way.

Advanced digital formats require advanced cable design

Watching 3D video at home not only requires a 3D-compatible TV and source, but also a 3D-compatible HDMI cable. The connection between a 3D Blu-ray player and a 3D TV must be able to simultaneously pass dual 1080p video signals along with multichannel lossless audio. AudioQuest Vodka is certified to handle the maximum data rate that HDMI allows — 10.2Gbps.

Silver-plated solid copper conductors for better signal transfer

AudioQuest Vodka uses solid-core, 10% silver-plated conductors to ensure every bit of picture and sound information makes it to your gear. Silver is the most conductive metal; silver-plated copper conductors are ideal for very high-frequency applications, like HDMI audio and video. Because these signals travel mostly on the surface of the conductor, Vodka's high-purity silver plating provides performance that's close to that of a solid silver cable, but at a much lower price. Bottom line: you'll enjoy exceptionally clear, noise-free video and audio.

Product Research

HDMI: The HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) standard was created to transfer uncompressed digital audio and video. An HDMI cable's many internal conductors include communication channels, which allow automatic display and source matching for resolution, format, and aspect ratio.

Construction: The Audioquest Vodka HDMI cable uses solid 10% Silver-Plated LGC (Long-Grain Copper) conductors to eliminate inter-strand distortion and reduce jitter. Its solid HD Polyethylene insulation ensures critical signal-pair geometry. The Audioquest Vodka HDMI cable features silver-plated HDMI standard size (Type-A) connectors for maximum signal transfer. The cable also has a braided cable for added flexibility when routing the HDMI cable between your components.

HDMI 1.4: The Audioquest Vodka HDMI cable is version HDMI 1.4 compatible. This means the HDMI cable is High-Speed rated and supports transfer of 1080p/120Hz, 4k, and 3D video; as well as supports ARC (Audio Return Channel) and Ethernet Channel function.

  • 1080p/120Hz: Supports high-definition 1080p video resolutions with up to 120Hz refresh rate.
  • 3D: Defines input/output protocols for major 3D video formats, allowing true 3D gaming and 3D home theater applications.
  • 4K Support: Enables video resolutions (3840 x 2160 or 4096 x 2160) beyond 1080p, supporting next-generation displays that will rival the Digital Cinema systems used in many commercial movie theatres.
  • ARC (Audio Return Channel): Allows an HDMI-connected TV with a built-in tuner to send audio data "upstream" to a surround audio system, eliminating the need for a separate audio cable.
  • Ethernet Channel: Adds high-speed networking to an HDMI link, allowing users to take full advantage of their IP-enabled devices without a separate Ethernet cable.

In-Wall Rated: The Audioquest Vodka HDMI cable is CMG/FT4 rated for in-wall installation.

Directional: For audio signal, the HDMI cable is directional. Please use cable with arrows pointing form source to receiver, such as set-top box to receiver or monitor.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered AudiQuest cinnamon HDMI cable for my blu-ray to receiver connection initially, but opted for the vodka cable instead. I like the upgrade so well that I ordered a 3 meter vodka HDMI cable for my receiver to TV connection. Like the ol saying goes "you get what you pay for" I think the quality of this cable is dynamic and superior to any other out there.

Pros: Another outstanding product from AudiuQuest.

Cons: $pendy...

I use this cable for all my equipment.

Good Upgrade

Written By Tom, Rochester NY on Sunday, September 29, 2013

I've made some significant upgrades in my main system and basement system over the past year or two, mostly related to music, and more recently streaming hi-res files. Finally getting back around to the video side. When I have a weak link somewhere, I usually try to upgrade the main system, and pass along the replaced items to the basement and bedroom as upgrades there as well. In this case the basement TV (Sony) just wasn't looking or sounding great, had an old cheapo Monster HDMI going from my NAD T757 to the TV. Decided that the best route might be to upgrade the Audioquest Chocolate HDMI that was between my Oppo 93 and NAD T787 in the living room, and pass the Chocolate along to the basement.

Decided to jump over the Carbon but not get carried away with prices, so settled in on the Vodka for the Oppo -- it definitely made a difference with the audio, especially notice the center dialog clarity and separation, and the video on the Sony HX929 seems slightly clearer (may be my imagination/placebo effect) -- but moving the AQ Chocolate to the basement gave me the biggest bang, sounds like I upgraded a component or speakers, and the video is significantly sharper and brighter. So a win-win, both systems improved for a few hundred bucks -- I'll take that every time!

Pros: quality construction & connectors, excellent audio and video

Cons: none
