If you have a serious surround sound or 2-channel audio setup, AudioQuest's high-performance Vodka OptiLink will provide a distortion-free connection between your digital audio components — CD players, Blu-ray or DVD players, satellite or cable TV boxes — to A/V receivers, DACs, and even some sound bars. Vodka uses 217 narrow-aperture synthetic fibers to carry the signal, which minimizes jitter (time-based distortion). The cable has full-size Toslink connectors at each end, reinforced by a brass ferrule, which helps ensure ideal light transmission for the highest quality sound.

Optical cables carry signals as pulses of light rather than a stream of electrons, so they are virtually impervious to magnetic or electrical interference. Whether you're feeding stereo music to a DAC or Dolby® Digital surround sound to your receiver, the optical cable is an important and often overlooked link in the signal chain. The quality of your cable matters.

Product Highlights:

  • length: 1.5 meter (5 ft.)
  • low-jitter design
  • conductor is made up of 217 narrow-aperture synthetic fibers
  • full-size Toslink connectors with brass ferrule plugs for a snug, secure fit
  • warranty: 5 years
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Features

Audioquest OptiLink-Vodka Series Optical Cable: Audioquest OptiLink-Vodka optical (toslink) cables feature 217 narrow-aperture synthetic fibers for its conductor in order to minimize signal loss and jitter (time-based distortion). Precision polished fiber ends also contribute to ideal light transmission and the highest quality sound. The conductor is surrounded by flexible black PVC with a black and blue nylon braid. Each connector has a clear plastic protector that should be removed before use. The plug is shaped so that it will only fit one way into the component's Toslink connector.

excellent cable

Written By Tom, Rochester NY on Tuesday, June 11, 2013

I've never been a big fan of optical cables, always preferred RCA coax. But my NAD M51 DAC only has one input each, and I wasn't thrilled with the Cirrus DAC in my Marantz NA7004. I had a few AQ Cinnamon toslinks lying around, but decided to move up the chain a bit just out of curiosity. The Vodka is a HUGE improvement over the Cinnamons, very comparable to the VDM-5 RCA coax. Realized why I didn't like opticals previously, I just had the wrong cables :)

Pros: clear, crisp sound - good quality connectors
