Our take on the Etón FR400

Stay informed in emergency situations with the hand-cranked Etón FR400 radio. Its water-resistant build also makes a great companion when you're camping or even white-water rafting. You can power up the radio's rechargeable battery pack with less than two minutes of cranking, so the FR400's ready when you need it. An analog tuner pulls in all seven NOAA weather bands as well as AM and FM signals. It also receives NOAA alerts.

Two bright white LED lights serve as a built-in flashlight. There's also a flashing red LED light and emergency siren to alert others to your location.

It Keeps Coming On

Written By Bill, Arkansas on Monday, May 19, 2008

I guess I was expecting this radio to only come on when there was a storm or tornado warning for which I needed to be alerted, like the weather radios do. Instead, the Eton comes on whenever it feels like it, simply to give the weather conditions. If I want simply to hear the weather, I will turn the radio on. But when I have it set on "Alert", I expect it to come on ONLY IF (IFF) there is a true alert.
