Overview Details Customer Reviews Category Info Accessories Our take on the Klipsch AW-525 by Loren Barstow Outdoor speakers let you move the party outside Outdoor speakers are built tough -- they laugh at wind, rain and weather. Tuck a pair under your eaves and they'll pump out the tunes to keep everybody smiling and swaying at your next cookout or pool party. We also have some "rock" speakers that blend seamlessly into your landscaped lawn or garden. Do you want clear sound in your garden, on your patio, or by your pool? Check out the Klipsch® AW-525. These speakers don't need a huge amplifier to give you great coverage in open outdoor areas. That's because they feature a high sensitivity rating, which measures how loud a speaker plays with a given amount of power. Rugged, all-weather design Mount these outdoor speakers in a corner or under roof eaves with the included brackets. All-weather enclosures and rust-proof aluminum grilles stand up to the elements, ensuring years of worry-free performance. Horn technology for powerful performance Because high-frequency sounds are more directional than bass frequencies, it's especially important to target them right toward your ears. Klipsch places their titanium tweeter inside a flared opening, known as a "horn," which disperses the highs evenly across your listening area. This design brings out details in everything you listen to, while reducing reflections that can color the sound. The horn also improves dynamics and efficiency, for powerful, "front row" sound that remains crystal-clear at all volume levels. Got wire? Most speakers don't include any. Driver Technology Enclosure Design Connections Mounting Options Driver Technology Tweeters: Each speaker has a 1" Tractrix Horn loaded dome tweeter for a natural, lifelike sound. The Tractrix Horns deliver a 90-degree by 90-degree dispersion pattern for a broader sound-stage. Woofers: Each speaker uses a 5-1/4" IMG (Injection Molded Graphite) woofer. The dual ports are front-firing. Enclosure Design Weather Resistant Cabinet: Klipsch Reference All-Weather loudspeakers are constructed from UV-resistant, glass-reinforced polypropylene, designed to handle the outdoor elements. They can be painted to match any trim or siding color. Connections Binding Posts: The gold-plated binding posts will accept bare wire up to 12 gauge, pin connectors, spade connectors, or single banana plugs. Mounting Options Mounting Brackets: The included mounting brackets are corrosion resistant powder coated zinc and offer great placement flexibility. They allow you to rotate the speakers almost 180 degrees after they've been mounted, letting you direct the sound to different areas as needed. If the speakers are mounted vertically, the brackets allow them to swivel side to side. If the speakers are mounted horizontally, the brackets allow them to swivel up and down. The speakers' shape makes corner placement easy. Written By Ray J, Deltona, FL. on Saturday, August 02, 2008 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. Few people know just how important the speaker efficiency rating is. Klipsch historically made and stills makes the most efficient speakers going, as this was founder Paul Klipsch's vision (Remember the awesome 104 db Klipschorns?). These outdoor speakers boast a 94 db rating, a full 5 db higher than most other offerings from Polk, Boston Acoustics, etc. Trust me, if you have a big back yard and want commanding sound, only Klipsch will do. These are very sweet sounding too and the bass is impressive but won't rattle ribcages. You definitely want to aim these babies at your primary listening area too. The swivel brackets allow 180 degree rotation which gives me two sets of speakers for the price of one. I mounted them horizontally on my screened in porch up high. When relaxing on the porch, I rotate them inward/downward for a great imaging effect. When I am hanging on my outdoor deck about 25 feet away from the porch, I rotate the speakers outward to face the deck. This is the real test of speaker's muscle and sound quality and the Klipsch's really deliver. Out of the 4 models Klipsch offers, this second best is the way to go. The smaller cheaper two models are acoustic suspension design and lower efficiency. This model and the AW-650 have bass reflex design that really enhances badly needed bass outdoors. If you have an extra C-note to burn, get the 650's, but you won't get much difference. Pay the price for the AW-525's and you will never regret it. 20 out of 20 people found this helpful Was this review helpful? Yes | No 5 out of 5 Unbelievable! Written By Santi, Bossier City, LA on Monday, September 14, 2009 Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?) Crutchfield Customer Review The reviewer purchased this item from us, verified by the email address on the order. I was having trouble deciding between the AW-650 and the AW-525. At the last second, I decided I wanted a smaller speaker and purchased the AW-525. When they arrived, I pulled them out and they were quite a bit larger than I imagined them to be (even after I pulled out the tape measure before ordering). I hooked these badboys up (which, with the mounting bracket enclosed was pretty easy) to my yamaha receiver and HOLY COW! These things are awesome. Unless you are trying to play music for the entire neighborhood (seriously), these are great! I am 100% positive that that from at least 75 yards away you can hear these speakers very clearly. They fill up my entire back yard when not turned up very loud. My neighbors are going to hate me. Again, these speakers are unbelievable! I'd buy them again. 5 out of 5 people found this helpful Was this review helpful?
