Lifestyle

Horn-loaded tweeter produces renowned Klipsch sound
The G-16 uses one of Klipsch's patented Tractrix® horn-loaded tweeters, which helps to increase the speaker's high-frequency output and to produce more lifelike sound. You'll also hear a larger soundstage with excellent imaging that allows you to pinpoint the direction of birdsong or the sound of revving cars from off-screen. It's flanked by two 3-1/2" mid/woofers for rich mids and balanced bass that'll make you think you're listening to a much larger speaker.

Contemporary design to match any flat-panel TV
The polymer cabinet has a stylishly curved front baffle that give it both a contemporary look and low-resonance structural stability. The cabinet undergoes an extensive twelve-step finishing process to achieve a stunning high-gloss piano black luster. And the incredibly thin grill — it measures just half the thickness of a credit card! — easily pops off and on with magnetic attachments. Use the included glass base to place this speaker on any tabletop or shelf, or mount it to your walls using the dual keyholes slots. The G-16 produces the same great sound whether mounted horizontally or vertically.

Driver Technology

4 Klipsch Principles: Klipsch believed four principles to be the foundation for great sound. Together, these four design principles (high efficiency with low distortion, controlled directivity, flat frequency response, and wide dynamic range) have and always will be the foundation for Klipsch stunningly powerful and precise sound.

LCRS Design: The Klipsch Gallery G-16 is equally capable for use as a main Left, a Center channel, main Right, or as a Surround speaker; and can be configured with any other Klipsch Gallery Speaker to build one of a large variety of different sized surround systems.

Tractrix Horns: The Klipsch Gallery G-16 LCRS utilizes Tractrix Horn technology for lifelike sound, more output using less energy, improved reliability, reduced distortion and a large soundstage with well-defined imaging. Proprietary Klipsch technology with a refined 90° x 90° dispersion pattern expands the prime listening area and improves dynamics, increases soundstage dimension and produces pinpoint imaging for an enhanced listening experience.

Titanium Diaphragm Compression Driver Tweeter: The Klipsch Gallery LCRS employs one 1" Titanium diaphragm compression driver mated to 90° x 90° square Tractrix Horn. Combined with the Tractrix Horn, the 1", solid-formed, very lightweight metallic diaphragm works in conjunction with precise phasing plugs at the horns throat to create a highly efficient driver with excellent transient response and lack of distortion. The new Linear Travel Suspension assures the most precise diaphragm excursion, increasing high-frequency detail and smoothness.

Long-Throw Injection Molded Graphite Woofers: The Klipsch Gallery G-16 utilizes two 3.5" active long-throw IMG woofers. A woofer with a light, yet very stiff diaphragm matched with a large motor structure, designed for maximum controlled excursion to reproduce balanced bass output that rivals speakers twice its size

Enclosure Design

Bass Reflex Enclosure: The Klipsch G-16 LCRS features a bass reflex enclosure with a side-firing port for deeper bass and higher efficiency. The side-firing port is perfectly matched with the cabinet and woofer, precisely flared to minimize turbulence and distortion, and positioned to be fully functional wherever the speaker is placed or mounted.

Molded Polymer, Low-Resonant Cabinet: The elegant, injection molded polymer cabinet has a front baffle that curves to the rear on both sides to create both a highly aesthetic appearance and a solid, low-resonant structure.

High-Gloss Black Finish: The detailed, twelve-step cabinet finishing process achieves a sleek, high-quality piano black high gloss luster that perfectly blends into any interior setting.

Acoustically Invisible Grille: With the thinnest grille ever to come from Klipsch (one-half the thickness of a credit card), the sound is equally detailed with the grille on or off. With it off, the high gloss appearance and fine lines of the speaker are preserved due to the lack of visible fasteners on the speaker baffle made capable by a unique magnetic grille rod attachment.

Connections

Binding Posts: The Klipsch G-16 is equipped with one pair of sturdy binding posts to ensure a secure connection to many types of speaker cables and connectors. The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single only), pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and bare wire (16-gauge or larger).

Wire Management System: The Klipsch Gallery G-16's wire management system keeps wiring flush with the back of the speaker for perfect surface alignment and a clean, uncluttered appearance from the front or back.

Note: Speaker wire larger than 18-guage may not fit in wire management system channels.

Mounting Options

Horizontal/Vertical Mounting: The Klipsch G-16's symmetrical horn dispersion pattern allows placement of the speakers vertically or horizontally, on its included glass base or mounted on a wall, and covers all dimensions of a typical listening area.

Tempered Glass Base: The included dark tint, tempered glass bass allows flexible vertical or horizontal speaker placement on stands, tables, or shelves; and provides an elegant contrast to the high-gloss black speaker cabinet. The tempered glass base attaches to the speaker's back-panel dual threaded inserts (5mm) using the supplied two M5 screws.

Note: The Klipsch G-16 LCRS loudspeaker measures 6.0625" (w) x 17.4375" (h) 5.0625" (d) with the tempered glass base attached vertically.

Wall-Mount Bracket: The Klipsch G-16 LCRS loudspeaker features dual keyhole slots on the back of the cabinet for wall-mounting the speaker without any additional wall-mount bracket (mounting screws not supplied).

Customer Q&A

Q
Are these G-16 Klipsch series good with Dolby Atmos??
kckarla  Aug 27, 2017

A
I am not using them for Atmos so I do not know from experience. However, Atmos requires ceiling-mounted speakers, speakers designed to reflect off the ceiling, or an enabled sound-bar. I am using the G16 as my front channel but it is to my knowledge not enabled as a sound bar for atoms. There is specific instruction with the Gallery series (I use 12's as well) stating they are not to be mounted to the ceiling. I'm not the most qualified but I think that the answer is "no".

I am using a pair as my front height speakers and I think they do a good job.

Q
Can this speaker be mounted on ceilings and and angled toward listening area ?

A
Yes. Have a 28, a pair of 16s, and a pair of 12s-16s and 12s are all mounted on slanted ceiling in our media room. Installer said it was easy-measured the distance between the mounting holes on the back and kept tightening the surface screws until they were snug against the ceiling. Powerful, clean sounding speakers. Media room is 14' by 18'. Really didn't need the 28 as a center (16 would have been plenty) but we live in TX so we had to go big!! Hope this helps. Merry Christmas!! dr

This speaker can be mounted on ceiling and give good sound quality I have four mounted two in front of listening area and two behind listing area. To the best of my knowledge they are not designed to be angled toward the listening area.
willard l.  Dec 24, 2015
A
yes but you must modify the bracket for your angle or get a different mount

I have a drop ceiling and mounted 4 G-12's in home made boxes aimed at the MLP for atmos. Worked very well. For no real reason other than having them I may switch them out for the G-16's. It depends if your capable of mounting them properly.
