Klipsch GiG Bluetooth portable speaker system

The GiG's wraparound case swivels out to make a speaker stand.

High quality Bluetooth audio

The system features aptX® audio coding, an advanced form of Bluetooth that allows higher-fidelity sound with compatible Bluetooth devices. The GiG is backwards-compatible with earlier forms of Bluetooth, too. So you can wirelessly stream music from your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or other portable and still enjoy outstanding sound.

Quick pairing with NFC

The system uses Bluetooth and has NFC (Near Field Communication) built-in. Just swipe your NFC-compatible smartphone or tablet close to the GiG to pair and start streaming music right away. You can also pair the GiG with other Bluetooth-enabled devices, such as a portable game console or laptop computer.

And it's a speakerphone

If a call comes in on your smartphone while you're listening to your tunes, you've got options. Answer the call and use the GiG as a speakerphone to talk hands-free. If you don't like the interruption, terminate the call, or just ignore it — all from the GiG's control button.

Innovative portable design

A single multifunctional control button operates the system. And the button also has the battery charge status and usage indicator built in — everything in one place. The wraparound case swivels out to make a speaker stand. There's an auxiliary input so you can play non-Bluetooth portable devices through the system, too. The built-in rechargeable battery provides up to 12 hours of continuous operation so you can enjoy music all day (or all night) long.

Features

Full-Range Sound: The Klipsch Gig Bluetooth powered speaker features dual front-firing 1" full-range drivers powered by a built-in 5 watt x 2 channel amplifier. Each full-range driver is complimented by a rear-firing 2" passive radiator for rich, musical bass. Advanced DSP equalization provides lifelike, dynamic sound at any volume level.

Built-in Bluetooth: The Klipsch Gig powered speaker offers built-in Bluetooth technology for wireless audio streaming and hands-free communication from your Bluetooth-enabled mobile device.

  • Wireless Audio Streaming w/ AptX: The Klipsch Gig supports Bluetooth A2DP which allows you to wirelessly stream audio from your Bluetooth-enabled Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, or laptop/computer. You'll be able to stream stored music or music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled device. AptX audio coding technology allows for lossless, audiophile-quality streaming. You'll be able to control basic playback function from the Gig's multi-touch rotary dial, such as Play/Pause and Previous/Next Track. You will continue to your Bluetooth-enabled device for advanced music navigation and to view song/artist information.
  • Hands-Free Communication: The Gig's built-in microphone and multi-touch rotary dial can be used to answer/end, ignore, transfer, or voice dial your calls. Using the built-in in mic, you can carry on your side of the conversation while the other party is heard through the Gig's speakers. You will continue to use your Bluetooth-enabled device to view video calls, manually dial a phone number, and control advanced phone functions.

Simple Pairing w/ NFC: A single button press pairs your Bluetooth-enabled device with the Klipsch Gig. The speaker also supports NFC (Near-Field Communication) technology for pairing. Simply tap your NFC-enabled Android smartphone to the NFC tag on the top of the speaker for instant pairing with the Gig; NFC is only available in select Android smartphones. The Gig can be paired with up to 8 devices (only one can be used at a time). Once paired, the Gig will automatically re-connect to the last device used when in wireless range (30').

Klipsch GiG Review

Written By MalibuMike, NY on Thursday, April 03, 2014

It's surprising how much quality sound comes from this speaker. The little guy sounds much bigger than you would think. The passive bass driver in the rear helps with that by giving you another dimension to the sound. In total they somehow managed to cram 4 speakers into this little guy, 2 x 1 inch full range drivers and 2 x 2 inch passive radiators. In terms of the EQ, I find it very well balanced. Vocals take the forefront and come across clearly. Bass is not overpowering which I appreciate, it kicks in just at the right times determined by the track you're listening to. Too many of these speaker mfgs tend to boost the bass to a point where mids become muddy, and it often drowns out vocals. Klipsch got it right, vocals and highs are at the forefront of this speaker and the bass enhances the overall sound.

When you buy anything by Klipsch you should expect it to be well built - so needless to say it feels solid. The nob on the top is solid and has a nice mechanical click to it when adjusting volume, or pressing the buttons. There is no creaking to any of the moving parts.

One of the best features is audible notifications. When you turn on the speaker, or it connects to your device, and when you turn it off, the speaker will tell you by a sound indication.

It comes with a micro usb charging cable, small wall charger, international adapters, silk like pouch to put the speaker in, 3.5mm cable, band that doubles as a stand, you can purchase other colors as well.

Pros: Sound Quality, Build, Portability.

You can charge this unit through the USB connection. If you connect into a USB port in our vehicle then it should recharge just fine. If your vehicle does not have a USB port, then an adapter like the Scosche reVOLT c2 should do the trick. [ Jeff  Dec 06, 2013 ]  Staff
