Product Research

Features

Overview: The Klipsch IK-800-C installation kit offers increased mounting flexibility for all of Klipsch residential in-ceiling speakers that employ a 8.0" woofer. This installation kit also fits Klipsch's commercial IC-6T in-ceiling speakers. This installation kit design incorporates two color-coded brackets for easy speaker size identification. A flat side with a raised wall allows it to be mounted directly to a joist, making it much easier to align the speakers with other items in the ceiling. The kit also comes with four perforated metal wings that easily fasten to the studs via screws, staples or nails. Ribbed for increased rigidity, these wings enable a kit to span up to 24 inches easily. Painted white for easy marking and placement, these metal wings will fold around the edge of the studs if necessary.

Q
Can These be used in a drop ceiling?

A
Yes. you can buy ceiling mounts that work just great. I used a threaded extension pipe 1-1/2 " that mounts very easily to the Chief mount that is designed for this method and it works great and is easy to install.

They are not designed for a drop ceiling. The thickness of these plus the thickness of the drop ceiling tiles would most-likely be too thick for the mounting tabs of the speakers. When I've installed in a drop ceiling, I've used a thinner metal version of these (sold by another company). Hope that helps. Aloha

A
I believe so. However, since a ceiling tile is loosely fit and just laying on some metal supports I would imagine that when sound is played through the speaker and it vibrates, your tile will vibrate as well.

Hey, I installed them in a Sheetrock ceiling. The thing is they need to be screwed into a ceiling joist. If the drop is not directly attached to the joist, which I imagine it wouldn't be, you would have to fashion something to support the mount, and ultimately the speaker. The speaker is too heavy to only be supported by the drop ceiling panel. Off the top of my head either you use 2x4s attached to the joist and making their way down to just above the drop panel or maybe use some thick wire attached to the joist and then to the mount. Hope this helps.

Q
can this be used for a wall that already has sheet rock?

A
this is a pre sheetrock product to let the sheetrock.
travis  Jul 13, 2020
A
Unfortunately no. The included Straps actually mount to the studs and the drywall is placed over them.
jonathan  May 27, 2020
A
No this is used pre sheet rock
richard  May 23, 2020
A
No. These are meant to be installed before the sheetrock so that: a) you have perfect placement of your speakers (in-between rafters, etc.) and b) the sheetrock installers use them as a guide where to cut the holes in the sheetrock and mud around. If you already have sheetrock, you'll have to use a stud-finder for placement and the tabs/flip-out wings on ceiling speakers are used to hold onto the sheetrock. Hope this helps. Aloha
adam  May 23, 2020
A
No, not easily. These are designed to be used for pre-construction since they are secured with nails to the ceiling joists.
robert  May 23, 2020
A
The rough in bracket is designed to be used for new construction and is not needed for existing construction
james  May 23, 2020
A
Not effectively, and if you already have sheetrock this will not save you any trouble; just use the template provided with the speakers to cut the hole in the sheetrock ( between studs). Thising ring is designed to be fastened directly to studs, which be near
steven c  May 23, 2020
A
NO, i would say not. You would have to cut a hole that is big enough to get the mount inside. You can mount them without these anyway, the speakers have the wings on them that will flip out and hold on top of your sheet rock.
richard  May 23, 2020
Q
What is the full measurement across the green rings; not the internal hole, but from one external side to the other?
merritt  May 08, 2017

A
Thanks for your question. If you are measuring from the flat bottom edge to the opposite edge it would be 11.125". The other two sides are 12.5" from edge to edge. Hope this helps.
