No-hassle home theater

In a perfect world, we'd all have tricked-out home theaters with speakers nestled into every nook and cranny, and cables routed through walls and ceilings. In the real world, the Klipsch Reference R-10B delivers an exciting home theater experience while taking up very little space and connecting to your TV with a single cable.

The R-10B consists of a sound bar, which can rest on your TV stand or be mounted on the wall, and a wireless subwoofer for deep, powerful bass without a cable running across the floor. Together, they'll restore clear dialogue, immersive sound effects, and low-frequency impact to movies and TV shows. And you won't need an architect to re-imagine your house to start enjoying it.

Klipsch Reference R-10B sound bar and wireless subwoofer

The Klipsch Reference R-10B sound bar makes a perfect mate for a large-screen TV. It can be wall-mounted (shown) or placed on a TV stand.

Clear sound at every seat

This system's two-channel sound bar offers uncompromised clarity with legendary Klipsch sound. Two 3/4" tweeters offer detail and nuance. Each is mated to a horn — a staple of Klipsch speakers — which disperses high frequencies across a wide listening area. This ensures every seat in the house is the best seat for sound quality. In addition, there are two 3" midrange drivers that excel at reproducing clear dialogue. You won't have to keep replaying the same scene just to understand the actors.

Bring back the bass

When you take the bass frequencies away from a movie soundtrack, you're left with a gaping hole. Everything just sounds a bit flat and lifeless. The R-10B's wireless subwoofer will correct that. Just find a spot anywhere in your room, sync it to the sound bar wirelessly, and you'll start to hear (and feel) just what you've been missing.

Built-in Bluetooth for music

The R-10B isn't just for movies. When you want to enjoy some music, just whip out your smartphone and pair it to the sound bar. It has Bluetooth built in, so you can stream music wirelessly from your phone, tablet, or Bluetooth capable computer.

One cable connection and done

Setting up the R-10B sound bar is easy. Connect the included optical digital audio cable to your TV's optical output. Then connect the other end to the sound bar's input. Plug it in, and you're all set. The sound bar decodes Dolby® Digital signals, so it's prepared to handle the output from most TVs. There are also stereo RCA inputs in case you have an older TV without an optical output.

    Product Research

    Features

Soundbar + Wireless Sub System: The Klipsch R-10B Soundbar + Subwoofer Speaker System improves your television and movie sound by simulating a multi-speaker surround sound system. It instantly upgrades your TV sound without requiring a separate receiver and multiple speakers. The Klipsch R-10B consists of a self-powered soundbar speaker and a wireless powered subwoofer, combining for 250-watts (Peak) of dynamic power. The system features an elegant black satin finish to blend in with your flat-panel TV and decor.

    • Active Soundbar w/ Horn-Loaded Technology: The Klipsch R-10B's self-powered soundbar speaker utilizes horn-loading technology designed to send sound more directly to the listening area. By incorporating highly efficient horn-loaded technology into the soundbar, all sounds are more detailed, dialog clarity is significantly improved, and overall output is maximized to cover even the largest listening areas. The soundbar speaker utilizes two 0.75" horn-loaded textile dome tweeters mated with 90° x 90° Tractrix horns that deliver crisp highs. Two 3" polypropylene woofers round out the enhanced sound with crisp vocals and dynamic soundtracks. The Tractrix horns both reduce distortion and increase dispersion more directly to the main listening area. Reduced distortion increases sonic detail while controlled dispersion sends more sound to the listening area for greater accuracy and openness.
    • Wireless Powered Subwoofer: The Klipsch R-10B includes a wireless powered subwoofer with a 8" side-firing fiber composite woofer in a bass reflex enclosure with a rear slot-port. The sophisticated 2.4 GHz technology automatically connects the soundbar and subwoofer together wirelessly; up to 50'. Subwoofer cabinet construction is critical for proper bass reproduction. Particleboard or, even worse, plastic subwoofer cabinets resonate in a manner that severely distorts bass, causing it to sound "boomy". The Klipsch R-10B subwoofer uses a very solid MDF cabinet to prevent unwanted vibration and distortion. The wireless powered subwoofer has an independent volume control dial located on its rear-panel.

3D Surround Mode: The Klipsch R-10B soundbar + subwoofer system features a selectable 3D Surround Mode designed to simulate the effect of a surround sound system. This effect will work at multiple listening positions in your room.

Digital + Analog Connection: The Klipsch R-10B is designed to quickly connect to most TV's using either a digital optical (toslink) connection or an analog (RCA) hookup. Using the digital optical connection, the built-in Dolby Digital decoder accepts sound from both the TV and any device (such as a DVD/Blu-ray player or Cable/Satellite receiver) hooked up to the TV. There is also analog RCA left/right input, if your television does not offer an optical digital output.

Note: The digital optical output terminals of most newer flat-panel TVs only send an audio signal in 5.1ch when receiving Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound from the TV's built-in tuner, network connection, or connected USB device; and will output only 2ch stereo from sources connected to the TV via HDMI, or RCA (like your Blue-ray/DVD player or satellite/cable box).

Bluetooth Audio Streaming: The Klipsch R-10B features built-in Bluetooth for wireless audio streaming of stored music and music apps on your Bluetooth-enabled Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, Windows PC, Mac computer,  and more to the Klipsch soundbar + subwoofer system. The R-10B even supports aptX audio coding technology which allows for lossless, CD-quality wireless streaming of music from an aptX-compatible Bluetooth device (like Android OS 4.0+). You'll continue to use your Bluetooth-enabled device to control music playback functions and to view song/artist information. A simple single button press will pair your device with the R-10B system. Once paired, the R-10B speaker system will automatically re-connect to your device when within range (up to 33').

Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the Klipsch R-10B.

Remote Control: You can program the Klipsch R-10B's Volume Up/Down and Mute functions into your existing TV remote for further ease-of-operation. You also have the option of controlling all functions of the system with the included IR remote control.

Note: Many newer TVs are coming with RF remotes and don't offer IR functionality. In this case, you would not be able to program the soundbar and TV remote to work together.

Mounting Options: The soundbar speaker can be positioned on a shelf or stand using the supplied rubber feet (the rubber feet add 0.25" to the height of the soundbar speaker). It can also be wall-mounted using its dual keyhole slots and included easy-to-use template (the keyhole spacing is 29.4375"). The slender soundbar speaker aesthetically matches either a wall-mounted or table-top mounted TV. Because the powered sub is wireless it can be positioned almost anywhere up to 50' from the soundbar speaker. It is recommended that the sub be positioned on the same wall as the soundbar. The wireless powered sub will require an AC wall outlet.

Auto Turn-On: This soundbar speaker system will turn on automatically when it receives an audio signal on its optical or analog inputs.

    Q
Keep having to turn down my 10-B soundbar for the commercials. Is there a fix for this?
    jennifer  Sep 12, 2018
    3 answers
    A
Truthfully, the only cure I know of is the mute button. The sponsors for the programs folks watch pay for advertising, want to get their moneys worth and the broadcasting stations agreed to over-modulate the audio associated with the commercials to make sure "you" hear them. I hate it but it's a fact of life. Many stations are worse than others. Since the 10B is an amplified system it may just be overly sensitive to the commercials over-modulation. Bummer!!!
    mark  Sep 20, 2018
    A
Commercials are amplified by networks and wether though tv speakers or sound at you'll have the same issue. There is no fix--there were tv's that had a feature that reduced the sound level of commercials automatically but I've not seen that feature for several years now.
    earl f  Sep 18, 2018
    A
No ive noticed this as well Most commercials are louder anyway and with the klipsch it is just magnified

    Q
The height of this sound bar is 4 1/8" it will block my 65" Samsung TV remote sensor if it lays on the table. Anyone else have this issue? I have not purchased this unit bc of the interference.

    A
Same here with my 60" Panasonic. I figured I had a couple of options -- Either elevate the TV slightly, which would have required something under the foot (it has the old foot, not legs), or merely slide the soundbar to the right slightly to uncover the sensor on the left side of the tv. It looked a little unbalanced at first, but I don't even notice it anymore. Obviously, it doesn't impact the sound or performance in any way. This soundbar is unbelievable. I also connect it to my Echo Dot and my phone via Bluetooth and stream music through it. If you can solve your sensor issue, you'll be really pleased with it.

    Q
I have an R10B system and love it! Is it possible to add a second sub to an existing system?
    anthony c  Aug 11, 2018
    3 answers
    A
I believe it might be difficult with this type of system. The audio signal is sent wirelessly from the "bar" speaker to the subwoofer. You would need a subwoofer that could correctly receive the wireless signal. Possibly Klipsch could assist you obtaining such a subwoofer. Additionally, I'm sure some audio electronics wizard could open up the existing subwoofer and connect into its preamp and send the signal to a non-Klipsch amplified subwoofer but. if possible. I doubt the procedure would be trival.
    mark  Aug 16, 2018
    A
The system is not designed to add another subwoofer. If you want more bass you might consider the R20B.
    eric  Aug 16, 2018
    A
No, one for one system. Sound bar comes paired with one subwoofer.

The model number of my universal remote provided by cable co is UR5U-8780L-BHC. Will I be able to control volume and turn sound bar on/off using this remote? Don't want to use 2 remotes or press a lot of buttons to turn on sound bar and control volume. Thank you.

Any remote control can be programmed to operate sound bar... Volume up/down and mute. Follow Klipsch instructions in the manual.
    kenneth  Aug 16, 2018

I have not used a universal remote but I would think you should be able to program with the soundbar to do that.
    donald  Aug 11, 2018
    A
I'm not sure about your universal remote. But here is my experience with this sound bar. When I first got the sound bar I was using two remotes to turn the TV volume down and sound bar up. When sound came from both it was slightly out of sync. I figured out that I could change the TV settings to choose which speakers I want to use. I was able to go into the TV settings With the TV remote, but I only had to do this once, changing from TV speakers to audio system. I can now use any remote to control volume; TV, universal, or sound bar. The power comes on automatically when I turn on the TV with my universal remote. The sound is great and I highly recommend this sound bar. I can even use the sound system to listen to music with Bluetooth on my phone. Maybe check your TV settings to see what speaker or sound options you have first. Hope this helps.

Can this sound bar be attached to a TV mounting bracket that extends from the wall? It appears that it can only be set on a stand or mounted directly to the wall.

I purchased some soundbar mounting brackets. These brackets work GREAT. Search the Web for soundbar mounting brackets. They are cheap. It's the way to go
    mark  Mar 08, 2018
    A
You are correct it can be mounted to the wall with it's own mounting holes. I would use the supplied template and see if it would match the mounting position on the tv bracket.
    vern  Mar 08, 2018
    A
The sound bar has mounting brackets 29.5 inches center to center for hanging on the wall. If you wanted to attach it to a TV mounting bracket and it is not 29.5 inches apart, you would need to modify it with an additional bracket to connect the sound bar to it.

Additional FYI--this unit will automactically energize when your tv is turned on--bought to potentially be a defect it is actually the way the circuitry is designed according to Klipsh. I think that this auto on function happens no matter how the sound bar is connected to the tv--mine is connected through a fiber optics cable.
    earl f  Feb 13, 2018
    A
Sorry but I don't know what "toslink" is. I connect my TV using an optical cable. This allows any device connected to the tv to play through the sound bar.
    robert  Feb 10, 2018
    A
You should be able to accomplish all that you asked about. The unit actually comes with a fiber optics cable. Any sound running through the tv will be able to come through the sound bar.

HI: Prak J. I never have any problem with my sound bar, why you don't try different wires or if you have it connect to your TV, CD player etc. maybe some audio signal coming from those sources and make the fan to be in motion most of the time. I hope this information can help you, I wish good lock, and merry Christmas.

I haven't had a problem like that. But, I have heard noises. Through listening to different tv stations I determined that the sound bar is so good that it picks up every sound bei g produced. Especially when I watch the news. I seem to be picking up their background noise. Give it some time. It's a big step up in quality of sound going from tv speakers to high quality sound from this Klipsch sound bar.
    jason  Dec 11, 2017

I haven't ever experienced this. I don't even think the sound bar has a fan. Does it do when all types of devices are connected? I found mine sounded better after several hour shifts of use. Sort of sounded harsh at first and sort of broke in. That may be your problem and if it doesn't get better in a week then maybe it's actually defective.
    andrew  Dec 11, 2017

Tv, DVD player, and works as a Bluetooth speaker
    kelly  Oct 26, 2017
    A
Yes. It works with my Samsung TV. There is some interruption via the optical cable-causing sound to briefly go silent. Bluetooth used to work great for iPhone and iPad streaming music, however, disappointingly the updates OS from Apple interferes with Klipsch's Bluetooth capability rendering that feature useless. Although the Klipsch has great sound, the lack of a software upgrade or solution or any recent online thread is very disappointing in trying to use the speaker for pure music. Haven't called it in yet. May replace with a different brand.

I believe that it has to do with the Tv you have it hooked up to. Most Tv's optical output is set up to turn on the device that it's hooked up to and some Tv's you can change that.

If I run the optical cable from my TV, will the volume adjustment work when I adjust the volume of the TV with the TV remote? Or do you need to use the included remote to adjust volume?
    david  Jan 06, 2017

    A
Once you install the soundbar, you will disable or mute your TV speakers and adjust the soundbar volume instead. You can adjust the soundbar volume with the included remote or by reprogramming your TV remote or another universal remote to control the soundbar. The way you connect them soundbar to the TV has nothing to do with it.

Your TV remote will adjust the volume after you follow the set up instructions. Mine works with a Samsung TV and a Direct TV remote.

Great speaker choice. We just connected speaker to our universal remote and it works fine. I don't believe your original TV remote would work unless it can be programmed to connect to other devices

Hi David. I haven't tried it honestly. I have it hooked up with a optical digital cable also. I have a Sony tv. When I use the tv remote to turn on it will turn on the Klipsch sound system. But when I turn off the tv it will not turn off the soundbar. I use the small remote supplied with the soundbar. I just came from Dish to Cable. The installer said the cable remote should do everything. I haven't got that far into it. I just moved for the second time. Sorry this doesn't help much. It's a good soundbar. I came from a Sony. I wish it had more controls for sound parameters. Only a 3d button. I don't really care for that. It helps some on movies. I haven't done any Bluetooth stuff. The sub works fine wireless.

Hi Keith - I am assuming that the 2 were paired before the move. Without the ability to troubleshoot this with you, my very first recommendation is to "forget" the device from your phone and re-connect them.

Are you hitting the Bluetooth button on your remote while your phone Bluetooth is searching for Bluetooth devices?

I am having a tough time pairing my directv remote to it. So I can use the directv remote to control volume. The first step was easy where u can control the mute. However now I'm trying to control the volume with no success. Does anyone have any suggestions? Help!

Try this: Step 4 press the -(minus) button once, then press your remotes volume down button slowly 4 times. The flashing green light should turn solid. Then do the same with the +(plus) button and the volume up on your remote. Of course follow steps 1,2 and 3 each time. Keep your remote within 12 inches of the sound bar. Good luck.

I was never able to use my remote had to use the one that came with it. I ended up sending back the sound bar because it would shut down by itself then turn back on with full volume. It did this a few times. Sorry and good luck

I'm a directtv customer and have a Samsung monitor/tv. I use the Samsung controller to manage the r10b sound level, quite well.
