Treat yourself to top-notch sound with a speaker that blends seamlessly into your home's décor. The Klipsch® R-2650-C II installs in your ceiling, so it won't take up one inch of floor space. And its high-tech design and solid construction make it a great choice for movie and music lovers alike. You can use multiple R-2650-C IIs for surround sound in an all-Klipsch home theater, or install them in pairs for stereo listening with your multi-room audio system. Either way, you'll enjoy crisp, clear Klipsch sound without the clutter of conventional speakers.
The R-2650-C II's 1" silk dome tweeter delivers clean, clear sound. The 6-1/2" woofer adds warmth and heft to the sound of movies and music alike. Klipsch speakers are renowned for their high efficiency and room-filling sound.
The R-2650 II keeps a low profile with its SlimTrim™ grille. The visible frame size is reduced by 90% and grille depth is reduced by 80% over previous designs, for a nearly flush finish that blends in beautifully. The paintable aluminum, magnetic grille attaches securely to virtually eliminate resonant distortion.
An optional in-ceiling bracket is recommended for installing the R-2650-C II in new construction.
I have a 5.1 Klipsch system and decided to put the R-2650 C II speakers in the ceiling above the rear speakers that are down low. When i first turned it on with a movie track I was glad I made the choice. With these additional speakers I am in the middle of the sound and it is great.
Pros: Since I had roughed in the in-wall wiring before, the installation took me maybe 2 hours and the flush grille is very attractive as opposed to the rectangular grilles that really stand out
Cons: none that come to mind
I have the Klipsch HD Theater 300 surround system but the new house has no good place for rear speakers on stands. So I went with in-ceiling speakers. I wanted to stay with Klipsch brand and settled on the R-2650-C II for their magnetic grills, size and good sound quality. I had the Klipsch new construction brackets installed to make installation easy. Even without these brackets I believe the installation would've been quite easy. Once you have the hole cut you push the speaker in and turn 4 screws until the feet grab. The sound quality of these speakers is great compared to my HD Theater 300 small speakers. I now want to buy 2 more for the screened in porch.
Pros: Easy installation Good sound quality Outlet version was like new except for the Crutchfield tape MAGNETIC GRILLES!

High Efficiency: The high-efficiency design of the Klipsch in-ceiling speakers allows you to get much more output than most in-wall and in-ceiling speakers. Due to the long speaker wire runs that are common in whole-house audio systems, the power coming from the amplifier is significantly reduced by the time it reaches the speakers. The 91dB efficiency of this speaker means it will play much louder at low power than other less-efficient speakers.
2-Way Driver Design: The Klipsch R-2650-C II uses a high-quality 1" silk dome compression driver (tweeter) mated to an exclusive Tractrix Horn, combined with a 6.5" polypropylene woofer in a 2-way design.
Speaker Terminals: The speaker has a pair of spring clips that can accept up to 12-gauge wire or pin connectors.
ABS Basket/Frame: The R-2650-C II has a sturdy ABS basket and frame. The frame can be painted to match any decor.
SlimTrim Magnetic Grille: With an all new grille, the visible frame size is reduced by 90% and grille depth is reduced by 80% over the previous design, for a more edge-to-edge consistent look that blends in with the wall more attractively. The new aluminum, paintable, magnetic grille attaches tightly and securely with ease to virtually eliminate resonant distortion.
Power Specifications Note: The manufacturer has specified the maximum power handling of this speaker as 50 watts RMS (200 W Peak). Klipsch has also published a recommended amplifier power specification as 100 watts.
Installation: The speaker can be installed in new or existing construction. It requires a cutout diameter of 8.1875". For new construction, purchase of the IK-650-C installation kit (714IK650C, sold separately) is highly recommended. For existing construction, the speaker should be installed in drywall at least 3/8" thick. It can also be installed in a drop ceiling (2' x 2' or 2' x 4' ceiling tiles only). In both cases, to maximize the acoustic performance of the in-ceiling speakers, Klipsch recommends you replace the original mounting panel with 1/2" or 3/4" plywood or MDF. A cardboard template is included to assist you in making the cutout.

Thanks for all the replies! I think I'll give the plastic bubble wrap a try and see how it works. Great idea! [ BuilldingHT Jul 26, 2015 ]
SPEAKERS ARE GREAT, SOUND GOOD - THE INSTALLATION BOOKLET SAYS NOTHING ABOUT ENCLOSING THE SPEAKERS. I WOULD GO TO KLIPSCH.COM AND ASK THE QUESTION. I DID NOT ENCLOSE MINE AND INSATLL WAS VERY SIMPLE. IF YOU CLEAR A SUFFICIENT AREA OF INSULATION YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY WORRIES. BOTTOM LINE ASK KLIPSCH. [ Daniel Jul 25, 2015 ]
These speakers were installed in my home ceiling with attic insulation above them. I have had no issues with my situation whatsoever after 2 years of use. Sound is great. If concerned, you might be advised to contact the manufacturer. [ Lauris Jul 24, 2015 ]
Yes at least I did. I was also concerned about laying on the speakers. What I did, I went to Home Depot and purchased a roll of that silver plastic bubble insulation wrap that they sell (I surmise you can purchase at many hardware stores). I then made baskets large enough to completely cover the speaker . I formed the wrap into bowls cutting and stapling them together. For me our home was pre-wires, so I just cut the holes from below and just before I installed the speakers I placed each insulated bowl above the felling hole. I felt that it solved to things. It kept insulation from touching the speakers and I feel it will help direct the sound into the room. Hope this helps..... [ JEFFERY Jul 24, 2015 ]
On my installation I have mine in a fake ceiling so insulation is not a problem I honestly cannot say if it should be inclosed or not if you enclose it to protected from the installation I would make a big enough enclosure so there's no interference from a sound box effect but them people put speakers in boxes all the time. Sorry I didn't enclose them [ Tim Jul 23, 2015 ]
