Overview

Our take on the Klipsch Reference RC-52 II

The RC-52 II also uses newly machined, light-yet-rigid Cerametallic woofers that produce smoother mids and tighter bass. The specially treated aluminum in the cones helps to dampen unwanted vibrations and reduce distortion, while an integrated dustcap gives them a cleaner look and adds stability. And the rigid, braced cabinet comes in a handsome woodgrain vinyl finish.

A smart balance of performance and value

Klipsch's RC-52 II delivers robust, lifelike center channel sound. Using patented Klipsch speaker technology, it lends sonic realism and presence to the action on screen, letting you hear every word, every detail of your favorite movies. Whether you place this speaker above or below your TV's screen, you can use the included adjustable foot to tilt and aim the speaker precisely at your listening position for the best possible sound.

Horn technology for "front row" sound

All Reference Series II speakers feature a redesigned version of Klipsch's famous horn-loaded tweeter. Because high-frequency sounds are more directional than bass frequencies, it's especially important to target them right toward your ears. Klipsch places their titanium tweeter inside a flared opening, known as a "horn," which disperses the highs evenly across your listening area in a 90°-wide, 60°-high pattern. With their Series II speakers, Klipsch has redesigned the shape and slope of their famous horn enclosure, so your movie soundtracks and music will sound more "open," with improved dynamics and efficiency. All in all, you can count on powerful, "front row" sound that's crystal-clear at all volume levels.

High-tech driver design

The RC-52 II also uses newly machined, light-yet-rigid Cerametallic woofers that produce smoother mids and tighter bass. The specially treated aluminum in the cones helps to dampen unwanted vibrations and reduce distortion, while an integrated dustcap gives them a cleaner look and adds stability. And the rigid, braced cabinet comes in a handsome woodgrain vinyl finish.

Fantastic Sound

BrianH from Beaverton, OR on 9/8/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'd like to say this is the perfect match to my current Klipsch RB-51 II bookshelf speakers. Its perfectly tuned frequency response and large dynamic range give it the perfect sound I was looking for. It was fortunate enough I found the item still in stock at a low price at Crutchfield as the product had been discontinued. I was able to get an open box item that was in great condition. I didn't care for the shipping, as they didn't put it in another box, meaning when delivered to my doorstep neighbors could see I had a Klipsh speaker waiting at my door. Anyways, its been over a week since I received it and it fills my living room perfectly with great full sound and is in great condition. Thank everyone!

Pros: Perfect sound, exactly what I wanted at a good price.

Cons: don't discontinue it.

Steve from Washington on 5/4/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am very happy with this speaker. I wanted a speaker to emphasize dialogue and with the speaker size set to small on my receiver it does just that. With the fronts and subwoofer the bass is now balanced with this center to allow me to enjoy the full sound experience and clearly hear dialogue.

Pros: Great dialogue

Cons:

Really nice center!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just got this center with a pair of RF-62 II's about 2 weeks ago and have been watching blu-rays and such with them a few hours everyday. This center sounds amazing. I used to have a home theatre in a box, but after setting up all my new klipsch speakers and putting on my first TV show, I started laughing immediately because of how incredible the voices sounded. So crystal clear. Game of Thrones never sounded so good. The tilt bar works super well also. I used it to tilt it perfectly to my ear. Works like a charm. Lastly I will say that the 5.25 inch woofers on this center match the 6.5 inch woofers on the RF-62 II's perfectly. I was afraid of it not matching when I was buying them but everything worked out amazingly.

Pros: Super crisp and clear sound Dialog sounds incredible Amazing design Build quality is top notch

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

After buying the RB-61 II for my computer and decided to to buy these to upgrade my AV system. I had a 'Energy classic 5.1' surround speaker system which was OK for movies, but I really wanted better sound for playing music. These Klipsch speakers had so much more body, clarity & presence to the music than I had before. I also bought the Klipsch RF-52 II to replace my left & right channel speakers. Next up is to replace the rear speakers with some Klipsch Reference RS-41 II.

Pros: Great sound for music and clarity for vocals.

Cons:

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Per Crutchfield's reco, I purchased this speaker to replace my Jamo center channel speaker used in a 5 .1 set up. I'm glad I did! I can know hear the dialogue in films much more clearly. The mids and highs in music have much more detail. Best way to describe the difference between a reference speaker and a standard center channel speaker is that it is much more layered - the dialogue and other cinematic detail is much more 'in front', where the center channel tended to blend in more with the movie efx. Some audiophiles may prefer the latter, but I needed to hear the dialogue in films better at low volume as to not wake up my kids in the house when the other speakers and subwoofer would be too loud. This reference speaker works! The magnetic front screen is a very nice touch if I want to easily pop it off and show off the horns. It is also 22 lbs., and has heft so make sure you have a solid wall mount.

Perfect center channel speaker from Klipsch. Fits perfectly in my entertainment center and provides crystal clear sound for my home theater. Tremendous improvement to the all around sound from my system. I am now able to clearly understand dialog when watching television or movies, which has greatly enhanced my viewing pleasure. Sound is perfectly balanced and precise. Could not be more pleased with this addition to my home theater.

Pros: Perfect , crystal clear and well balanced sound. Beautiful cabinet. Able to adjust angle of the unit for precise placement and performance.

We already had Klipsch floorstanding speakers for years - with a smaller center speaker and surrounds. We bought this larger RC-52 II center speaker and then we also got the Klipsch Reference RS-52 II surrounds. Wow! What a difference these speakers make. Having an entire Klipsch speaker system is amazing. My in laws are here from France for the Holiday season and beyond and they can't wait to watch a movie almost every night. The sound makes every movie 100% better.

Night and Day

randymessman from Fort Worth, TX on 12/17/2014

I've been running an bose accoustimass 6 system for over ten years and felt like it was time to upgrade to 7.2 and upgrade my speakers. I don't have my fronts yet so I'm still running this with my bose system except i'm not routing it through the bose module. The easiest way to describe the sound is to mention that movies I've seen many times are now different and more enjoyable. The dialogue is crisp, clear. After changing the crossover on my receiver it instantly took on a fuller sound. Music through this is superb as well. Mumford and Sons was a new experience, Subtle notes in the vocals could be heard for the first time. I can't wait to get my polk bookshelf speakers, new surrounds, and my new polk sub tomorrow. I know they aren't tone matched but this thing has made my current setup sound incredible and I'm not that much of a purist. We'll see how the sound together but I'm anticipating it to blow me away. It is like experiencing home theater for the first time. I'm in love.

Pros: Sleek design. Extension foot for placement below or above the listening level. Mine is much higher as my tv is mounted above my fireplace. Beautiful speakers too.

Cons: None

Excellent speaker

Blues lover from Nebraska on 11/21/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This speaker is incredible. The quality of vocals reproduced from it are nothing short of amazing. I haven't yet had the chance of watching a concert recorded in 5.1 but am relishing the opportunity. For a/v purposes, I really don't understand how this speaker can be topped. The efficiency for a center channel this size really sells it. It truly makes your tv/movie experience far more enjoyable.

Pros: Klipsch build quality, clarity, tight/accurate sound.

Cons: Size may make it difficult place in some home entertainment furniture.

Matt from Los Angeles, CA on 5/14/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As a first step to upgrading my sound system (a pair of 15-year-old Klipsch bookshelf speakers), I picked the RC-52 II. I live in an apartment, and the RC-52 II provides the right balance between sound output and the amount of space it takes up in my entertainment setup. I love having a center channel in my setup, and the Kilpsch looks great and sounds great.

Pros: Looks great (black ash finish); doesn't overwhelm your room; sounds great

Cons: None that I can think of

Klipsch Reference RC-52 II

Anonymous from ID on 3/14/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I assembled RB-61ii fronts, RB-51ii surrounds, an SW 112 sub and this center speaker. I compared this system to Definitive Technology's 1000/2000 and their 800 systems. The DefTech systems actually distracted me from the movie, overpowering my possibly too small screen, and burying the dialogue and acoustic music under a heavy layer of bass. This Klipsch system delivers floor-rumbling bass effects but in a way that is much better balanced and matched with the center and surrounds. Dialogue is clear and lifelike, and acoustic passages in soundtracks swell with no distortion when needed and play musically when they just fill in background. All five speakers integrate with each other well, including the sub, and three-dimensional imaging--completely missing in the Def Tech systems--is dramatically clear. My system is powered by Marantz separates with an amp delivering 140w/ch--more than the Klipsches are rated for--but I consider the amp money well-spemt given the relaxed power reserves that effortlessly produce the extreme dynamics of today's Blu-Rays. The speakers were set up using the Marantz custom (Rocky tells me--and you can tell) Audessey set-up. No further tweaking was needed. I also upgraded Blu-Ray players--the Yamaha BD-S473 adds Dolby TrueHD sound that my old player lacked, and the difference in audio is obvious. All these years my home system has failed to deliver half the movie experience--the audio--and I never even knew what I was missing!

Pros: Natural balance of frequencies. Handles movies' dynamic range just fine. Creates the rumble without boominess or distractingly going over the top. Well-styled. Seem well-built.

Cons: Confusion with lower cost, very similar models. (I'm sticking with what works!)

Great speaker!

Nick from Beaumont, CA on 1/13/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I will start by stating that this is my first "real" home theater purchase, and prior to this I had a "home theater in a box" system. My system is powered by a SONY STR-DN840 and I will say that this speaker is quite good. It size is rather large, but that's to be expected from a decent speaker. The sound, like mentioned in previous reviews is very crisp and clear at all volume levels. Whether listening to classical guitar, or watching a kaboom heavy movie this speaker performance is fantastic and it does not struggle to fill my "great room" (approximately 30x30ft). The only thing I have noticed is that I may get some slight clipping from the speaker during an action heavy sequence in a movie at higher volumes. Currently the speaker is set as "large" from the receiver, and I am uncertain if I should switch it to "small" and let my sub do all the work. Either way its a great speaker and I would buy it again if I had to.

Pros: Sleek, loud, Amazing vocal clarity at all volumes, great mids and highs when listening to music.

Cons: Size (measure carefully), possible speaker clipping in action sequences at higher volumes.

A Klipsch Christmas

Lindsay from Albuquerque, NM on 1/6/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My living room/great room came wired for a 7.1 surround sound system. Wishing to take advantage of this, and while working on a budget, I've been slowing amassing the necessary speakers, receiver, and subwoofer. This Klipsch Reference RC-52 II center speaker was the pièce de résistance. I am 100% happy with it and realize, retrospectively, just how badly I missed it. On one hand, it sounds great cranked up loud when I'm cleaning the house. On the hand, its sounds equally great when I'm watching a movie or TV on regular volume levels - particularly the character dialogue which I sometimes have a hard time hearing. To top it off, I snagged this from the Crutchfield scratch n' dent for a sweet discount. It arrived fully functional, albeit with two tiny (e.g. less than a .25"), cosmetic scratches. I used a wood marker to fill them in, and no one is the wiser. The speaker sits approximately a foot below my TV and does not cause any distortion.

Pros: Great sound high and low. Manages to fill my large great room with sound easily. Classy, unobtrusive color and finishings.

Cons: I did not measure how this speaker would fit on my entertainment console; i just eyeballed it. I was therefore a bit surprised at how big it was once it arrived. Nevertheless, it still fits. I would just recommend that you measure the spot intended for this speaker before you purchase.

Just What I Needed

This is just what I needed. I previously had a Martin Logan center channel speaker. My system is powered by a Marantz SR6007. The system at full volume during a party blew the Martin Logan. I got the Klispch RC-52 and at full volume it purrs like a finely tuned watch. We love the sound and would recommend this to anyone.

Pros: Handles any power or volume load. Matches the living room décor.

I am very pleased with the sound performance of the center speaker which is matched with two Klipsch RC62 speakers & run through. Denon receiver & Samsung HD TV. All 3 speakers are at the same height and provide excellent listening experience. I really enjoy the look of the system with the speaker covers removed as a bonus. Need to add a sub woofer to complete for watching action movies. Crutchfield process was easy all items delivered in a few days of placing order with email tracking provided.

Better than I had hoped for

SteveG from Ontario, NY on 5/21/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I ordered this Klipsch RC-52 II Center Channel speaker when I saw it come up on the Scratch and Dent page. I previously had a Yamaha NS-C310 center but it just didn't put out the sound to match up with the Klipsch Heresy II main speakers I had. Although a few users on the Klipsch forum said I should go without a Center since this one did not exactly match the timbre of my mains, I have to say they were wrong. Much cleaner voices coming from my Sony XBR television through my Yamaha receiver. Much better than I had expected. A great buy especially at $90 off of list for a few nicks you can't even see in my cabinet.

Pros: Much nicer sound from my Home Theater setup.

Cons: Box it came in, looked like it had been through a war, and the packing only consisted of heavy bubble wrap, but that didn't affect the speaker, and I can't necessarily blame Crutchfield for what was obviously a unit that had either been returned or refurbished through the manufacturer.

Fantastic upgrade

RobertS from Farmington, NY on 5/19/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I already owned a Klipsch sub-woofer and had just purchased a pair of RF-52's to go with it in my existing home theater system but I was still not happy with my surround sound (in surround mode) until I got this center channel speaker. Suddenly dialogue was crystal clear and sound was seamless across the entire sound-stage!! I was blown away by the fact that I no longer need to crank up the volume just to hear dialogue. With this speaker, coupled with the RF-52's, I can hear every detail. This includes subtle background sounds as well as dialogue. My Onkyo receiver drives this speaker effortlessly (just like the RF-52's) because it is so efficient. I highly recommend this speaker, even if you don't have Klipsch speakers as your main speakers.

Pros: Clear, precise, easy to drive (efficient), natural sound, excellent highs and lows (especially for a center channel).

Cons: None. Price may seem high but, once you hear it, you will feel like it was a bargain.

WesleyS from Fountain Inn, SC on 4/1/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have never been more pleased with immediate results by switching to this speaker. My surround sound system was built on the Bose Cube Speakers and the Bose Center Channel Speaker. My wife and I had to constantly select "subtitles" when watching a movie as we could not understand the dialogue. I have an Onkyo 809 Home Theater Receiver with the Audyssey Speaker Set-up. This did not improve the quality of sound from the Bose Center Channel Speaker. The Klipsch fits well with our TV and the sound is awesome. We can now hear what we had been missing for years. I have come to believe the Bose system is highly overrated. The proof to me was in the much improved sound. I am sorry it took me so long to find a replacement. The speaker is well worth the investment. It makes me wonder what I may be missing with my other Bose speakers.

Pros: Attractive case and detachable grill.

Cons: None.

Great center speaker

Chad from Eau Claire, WI on 12/3/2012

I have this paired with Rf 52ii's and RB 51ii's with a RW-12D with a new Denon reciever. I had an older Klipsch center I thought was good but this thing sounds amazing. Crystal clear with NO distortion and also hits hard when listening to music. Overall I <3 it!

Pros: Crystal clear, no distortion. Dialogue is dead nuts watching movies. Fills the room perfectly

Cons: NONE!

Klipsch RC-52 II Center Speaker

Russ C from Cuyahoga Falls, OH on 2/26/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This unit is the final addition to my "vinyl" system that is music-only and Klipsch speakers are utilized in conjunction with a Polk sub-woofer. The room is fairly large, about 35' deep and the sound stage is very convincing and dynamic, yet not overwhelming. I am very pleased with the purchase and highly recommend the unit. Purchasing from Amazon was less costly than local dealer from direct price and no sales tax involved.

Pros: Range and dynamics

Cons: Weight and mounting on walls.

Klipsch one of the best

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The center channel is used for about 60% of movies. Most conversations, etc come from the center speaker so its the most important speaker in a home theater system. These are fantastic, very flat sound, very crisp. Using them with a Pioneer VSX920 and Audioquest X2 speaker cable (surprisingly made a huge difference as well as keeping the receiver cooler running). The horn tweeter works fantastic, they get pretty loud and stay sharp without distortion. Paired up with my RF52 II they sound incredible. Better then theater surround sound. A nice velodyne Impact 12 does the bass.

Cons:

AWESOME!!!

EXCELLENT!!!! I am using them with a pair of Klipsch RB 61 II fronts and smaller Klipsch surround speakers with an Onkyo A/V. Great volume and well matched combo. These speakers sound better and better with more and more volume. Very loud, tight, crisp and clear.

I had a little Pioneer center speaker but it sound muffled all the time. This center performs great and sounds crystal clear. This speaker made a big difference in watching movies for our family.

Awesome Sound.. .. ..

Jared from NY on 10/18/2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was hesitant to purchase a center channel because my two RF-52's sounded so good on their own. The RC-52 however works seamlessly with the RF-52's and fills in the sound. I didn't realize what I was missing until I had one. It was well worth the money for the sound improvement and I am extremely happy. Addition of the center channel completes the front sound stage and pull it together. I enjoy music and movies and it does both justice.

Driver Technology

Highly-Efficient Design: The Klipsch RC-52 II utilizes a highly efficient design to produce more output using less power & energy for louder sound with less distortion. The RC-52 II is able to fill medium-sized rooms with outstanding, accurate, non-fatiguing sound that you can listen to for hours.

Tractrix Horn Tweeter: The RC-52 II features an exclusive Tractrix Horn which provides a more genuine, lifelike sound. In addition, behind each horn lies a 1.0-inch titanium tweeter with a linear travel suspension for open, natural, sound. The Tractrix Horn delivers a 90-degree wide by 60-degree high dispersion pattern for a broader sound-stage.

Cerametallic Woofer: The dual 5.25-inch woofers of the RC-52 II center channel loudspeaker features Klipsch's distinctive, copper-colored Cerametallic material. Made with an anodized aluminum, this cone is strong and dent resistant. The anodizing process converts its inner and outer surfaces to ceramic. The outcome is a rigid cone with superb damping characteristics that will not flex or resonate at frequencies within the woofer's operating range The 5.25-inch woofers also employ a rubber surround for added durability.

Crossover Network: The Klipsch RC-52 II's crossover network is constructed using extremely high-quality components including top-of-the-line internal wiring, polyester film-type capacitors and an air-core inductor to ensure signal purity and proper driver integration. The speaker's enhanced crossover frequencies offer smoother on-axis and off-axis integration.

Enclosure Design

Bass Reflex Enclosure: The dual 5.25-inch Cerametallic cone woofers and 1-inch titanium diaphragm compression driver are mounted in a bass reflex enclosure which features two front-firing ports. The twin front-firing ports eliminate turbulence noise, while increased baffle ribbing around the horn mouth and woofers dramatically improves acoustics across the sonic range. The bass reflex enclosure features a MDF cabinet finished with a Black Ash wood-grain vinyl and an aluminum front baffle. The RC-52 II's rigid cabinet offers improved internal cross-bracing to minimize panel vibrations that can color sound.

Magnetic Grille: The center channel loudspeaker features a removable magnetic grille which easily snaps into place over its cast-aluminum front baffle. The speaker can be used with or without its grille in place.

Connections

Binding Posts: The Klipsch Reference Series RC-52 II is equipped with sturdy binding posts to ensure a secure connection to many types of cable and connectors. The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single only), pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and bare wire.

Mounting Options

Magnetically Shielded: The Klipsch RC-52 II center channel loudspeaker is magnetically shielded to prevent video interference.

Placement: The RC-52 II should be centered directly above or below your video screen. If necessary, you can place the speaker on an optional floor stand in front of and below the screen that elevates it to the correct height. Ideally, however, the speaker's front baffle should be flush with the front of the screen.

Rubber Feet: The center channel speaker comes with six self-adhesive rubber feet to secure the speaker in place and prevent any damage to your stand's or shelf's surface.

Note: The rubber feet add approximately 0.3125" to the height of each speaker.

Adjustable Angle: If the center speaker is well above or below the ear height of seated listeners, you can improve performance by angling the center channel slightly to compensate. Included with the speaker is an adjustable foot that you can screw into one of the two threaded inserts on the bottom of the cabinet. To tilt the speaker down, install the foot in the insert near the back of the cabinet; to tilt the speaker up, install the foot in the insert near the front of the cabinet.

There is no limit on the case as to horizontal or vertical. However, you should consider the shape of the sound envelope. Horizontal will project an envelope with some vertical component, but more left to right component. If it is placed vertical, that would be reversed; some left to right component and more vertical. If that is not critical to your listening area then there is no problem. The speaker placement is symmetrical with the drivers on each end and a horn in the middle (the horn is more square than rectangle). While we use ours for a center speaker, the audio for the TV has almost no stereo to it so the center speaker gets used the most. It's only when we use the Blu-ray player that we get to enjoy the whole sound system. [ JOSEPH  May 01, 2015 ]
Theoretically yes, you could mount it vertically, but you won't be getting the best performance from your speaker, most notably the way the sound is projected from the speaker to fill the room. Mounting it vertically will drastically reduce the outward "spread" of he sound, meaning that the both "sweet spot" and the total area of the room that will have good quality sound will be drastically reduced if you were to mount it vertically. Also, you would have to find a way to retrofit a vertical mounting mechanism: the speaker only comes with small padded "legs" for non-mounted installation, so if if weren't on the wall the cabinet would have to sit directly on the ground or furniture, which would alos interfere with its ability to produce ideal sound. So in short: yes, you could place/mount it vertically, but you shouldn't if you want to ensure the best sound from the speaker. I might add that for the price, this is, like all klipsch speakers I currently own (and have owned in the past) an excellent center channel. I have yet to find anything better in the price range (and I looked and listened for 2+ years and found that it even outperforms some of its more expensive competitors). So if you can find a way to use it as its designers intended (ie horizontal installation), do it, even if it means a non ideal aesthetic. Highly recommended, especially when paired with other klipsch reference series speakers. I've had a pair of reference towers since 2001 and have never had even the slightest problem, and receive compliments on the quality of sound all the time. Best of luck, let me know if you have any other questions, as I just installed control 4 system and reworked my whole home audio using all klipsch speakers; to say I'm very pleased is an understatement. Even the installers, who typically deal with super high-end products, were impressed with the sound quality klipsch delivered at that price point. [ RUSSELL C  Apr 30, 2015 ]
Im unsure. I did not have any reason to use it that way. The box seems strong enough, but I cannot say what it would do to the sound. [ Melinda  Apr 30, 2015 ]
You can stand it on end, and I'm fairly sure if it would sound exactly the same. The reason it is meant to be on it's side is to get it as close to your viewing screen so the sound appears to come from the screen itself and not a misplaced speaker. [ STEPHEN  Apr 30, 2015 ]
Absolutely you can place it vertically! great idea..I might do that myself! Steve [ STEVE M  Apr 30, 2015 ]
I don't see any reason why you couldn't. It's flat/square on the sides so it should stand straight and solid. [ STEPHEN P  Apr 30, 2015 ]
Dave - While it is physically possible to place this speaker vertically it is not designed to disperse sound from that position. The sound stage will likely be adversely affected, although to what extent is hard to know. [ ROBERT A  Apr 30, 2015 ]
Yes, it is possible to place the speaker vertical. Because the speaker is rather large it will have a large enough footprint to sit stable. If you remove the grill so that the logo and model do not throw off the look, the tweeter and cones will look very cool. [ GABRIEL  Apr 30, 2015 ]
DO NOT PUT ANY TV ON TOP OF ANY SPEAKER!!!! Speakers consist of magnits which can be linked to shorter TV life. It is recommended that all speakers be a min. of 2ft away. Ready he manual and it'll tell you the min. distance from a TV. (May be in TV or speaker manual). [ DEREK  Aug 03, 2015 ]
What is the exact height of this speaker? Can it be modified any? I really want this speaker, but the 6.5" height is too big by about 3/4 of an inch. [ jturman35  Oct 08, 2014 ]
I would not put a flat screen on top. It would not be stable and the speaker has a front support piece to lift up the front part of the speaker [ CESAR  Mar 04, 2014 ]
Yes, but I don't think it makes a good support. [ GLENN E  Mar 03, 2014 ]
Bill, I am not expert but was given this question to answer. I definitely would not put a tv on this speaker. It is a speaker, not a tv stand. I would pursue a different solution. An 80lb tv can be very dangerous if not properly mounted or supported. You can find tv mounts for reasonable prices if you seach the internet. Even ones with articulating arms that can bring the tv off the wall. Eric [ ERIC  Mar 02, 2014 ]
This really isn't a true answer to your question, but only my recommendation. Although this Center Channel speaker is built very ruggedly, I would not risk placing an 80 pound television on top of it. You have to realize that you aren't talking about a fully formed box of thick material. The front of the speaker is comprised of the mounting surface for the speakers, and probably not the thick MDF board of the sides. Also, I'm not sure of the construction of the back of the speaker box. There is a forum right on the Klipsch website where the people more involved with it's construction can possibly answer your question better. Since this would also raise your flatscreen off the base cabinet another 6.5", I would think it would make the television somewhat unstable. I hope that helps. [ STEPHEN  Mar 02, 2014 ]
I would say...yes. This speaker is VERY beefy...but I certainly don't know the ramifications of putting 80 lbs of TOP of a speaker? Personally, I would not do it...but I feel confidant is will support 80 lbs. [ STEVE M  Mar 02, 2014 ]
We did not place our flat screen on the this. We mounted the TV [ PATRICIA  Mar 02, 2014 ]
My guess would be a strongly confident YES. There's no way to know for sure of course unless I've tried it, which I haven't, but the speaker is very solidly built and heavy in it's own right. I'll think you'll be safe with your 80lb flat screen on top of this speaker....good luck!!! [ CHRIS  Mar 02, 2014 ]
I wouldn't do it Bill. Although this speaker is in a well designed heavy box, 80 lbs seems like a lot. I'd worry about an eventual fracture, and, even in the short term, transmitted stresses to the speaker itself; causing distortion, or damage. I have my center speaker on the the bottom shelf of a bookcase shelving unit, and the flatscreen on a separate shelf above it. [ STEVE  Mar 02, 2014 ]
It is so solidly built, I can't imagine any problems supporting that weight. That's my opinion but you might want to verify this with Klipsch directly. [ JEFF  Mar 02, 2014 ]
