Realistic home theater sound starts with the center channel

Klipsch's RC-62 II delivers all the subtleties and dynamics required for a riveting home theater experience. Using patented Klipsch speaker technology, it fleshes out the front soundstage, ensuring that you hear every word, every detail of your favorite movies. Whether you place this speaker above or below your TV's screen, you can use the included feet to tilt and aim the speaker precisely at your listening position for the best possible sound.

Horn technology for "front row" sound

All Reference Series II speakers feature a redesigned version of Klipsch's famous horn-loaded tweeter. Because high-frequency sounds are more directional than bass frequencies, it's especially important to target them right toward your ears. Klipsch places their titanium tweeter inside a flared opening, known as a "horn," which disperses the highs evenly across your listening area in a 90°-wide, 60°-high pattern. With their Series II speakers, Klipsch has redesigned the shape and slope of their famous horn enclosure, so your movie soundtracks and music will sound more "open," with improved dynamics and efficiency. All in all, you can count on powerful, "front row" sound that's crystal-clear at all volume levels.

High-tech driver design

The RC-62 II also uses newly machined, light-yet-rigid Cerametallic woofers that produce smoother mids and tighter bass. The specially treated aluminum in the cones helps to dampen unwanted vibrations and reduce distortion, while an integrated dustcap gives them a cleaner look and adds stability. And the rigid, braced cabinet comes in a handsome woodgrain vinyl finish.

Driver Technology

Highly-Efficient Design: The Klipsch RC-62 II utilizes a highly efficient design to produce more output using less power & energy for louder sound with less distortion. The RC-62 II is able to fill larger rooms with outstanding, accurate, non-fatiguing sound that you can listen to for hours.

Tractrix Horn Tweeter: The RC-62 II features an exclusive Tractrix Horn which provides a more genuine, lifelike sound. In addition, behind each horn lies a 1.0-inch titanium tweeter with a linear travel suspension for open, natural, sound. The Tractrix Horn delivers a 90-degree wide by 60-degree high dispersion pattern for a broader sound-stage.

Cerametallic Woofer: The dual 6.5-inch woofers of the RC-62 II center channel loudspeaker features Klipsch's distinctive, copper-colored Cerametallic material. Made with an anodized aluminum, this cone is strong and dent resistant. The anodizing process converts its inner and outer surfaces to ceramic. The outcome is a rigid cone with superb damping characteristics that will not flex or resonate at frequencies within the woofer's operating range The 6.5-inch woofers also employ a rubber surround for added durability.

Crossover Network: The Klipsch RC-62 II's crossover network is constructed using extremely high-quality components including top-of-the-line internal wiring, polyester film-type capacitors and an air-core inductor to ensure signal purity and proper driver integration. The speaker's enhanced crossover frequencies offer smoother on-axis and off-axis integration.

Enclosure Design

Bass Reflex Enclosure: The dual 6.5-inch Cerametallic cone woofers and 1-inch titanium diaphragm compression driver are mounted in a bass reflex enclosure which features two front-firing ports. The twin front-firing ports eliminate turbulence noise, while increased baffle ribbing around the horn mouth and woofers dramatically improves acoustics across the sonic range. The bass reflex enclosure features a MDF cabinet finished with a Black Ash wood-grain vinyl and an aluminum front baffle. The RC-62 II's rigid cabinet offers improved internal cross-bracing to minimize panel vibrations that can color sound.

Magnetic Grille: The center channel loudspeaker features a removable magnetic grille which easily snaps into place over its cast-aluminum front baffle. The speaker can be used with or without its grille in place.

Connections

Binding Posts: The Klipsch Reference Series RC-62 II is equipped with sturdy binding posts to ensure a secure connection to many types of cable and connectors. The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single only), pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and bare wire.

Mounting Options

Magnetically Shielded: The Klipsch RC-62 II center channel loudspeaker is magnetically shielded to prevent video interference.

Placement: The RC-62 II should be centered directly above or below your video screen. If necessary, you can place the speaker on an optional floor stand in front of and below the screen that elevates it to the correct height. Ideally, however, the speaker's front baffle should be flush with the front of the screen.

Rubber Feet: The center channel speaker comes with six self-adhesive rubber feet to secure the speaker in place and prevent any damage to your stand's or shelf's surface.

Note: The rubber feet add approximately 0.3125" to the height of each speaker.

Adjustable Angle: If the center speaker is well above or below the ear height of seated listeners, you can improve performance by angling the center channel slightly to compensate. Included with the speaker is an adjustable foot that you can screw into one of the two threaded inserts on the bottom of the cabinet. To tilt the speaker down, install the foot in the insert near the back of the cabinet; to tilt the speaker up, install the foot in the insert near the front of the cabinet.

Q
Is the RC-62 II a good match/within the same series for the RB-81 II speakers?? I'm using the 81's as fronts right now, with an RW-12D sub. Can't afford, nor do I have the space for the RC-64. Thanks much!

THIS IS THE MATCH FOR THE 81. BEST CENTER CHANNEL ON THE EARTH. GET IT WHILE YOU CAN.
kenneth  Jul 19, 2017
A
Considering your budget and ability to house a larger set of speakers, I believe this combination would work for you.
daniel  Jul 13, 2017
A
Hi Lonnie, I think it would be a good fit for you. I have it as part of my home theater and it sounds great. Having the 6.5" woofers as part of the center gives it a lot better frequency response than smaller center speakers. Even though it is pretty large for a center speaker, I don't notice it overpowering the rest of the system. I have it connected to an Onkyo TX-NR646 with an R-12SW sub, R-28Fs for fronts and RB61-II for surrounds. I really don't think you can go wrong with it. Will S.

It is pretty big however quality/sound amazing. Movies and video games are brought to life with this center channel. Would buy again.

Q
I would love to have this speaker to match my Klipsch main speakers. But my video center/ cabinet has an opening which is exactly 8.0 inches high. The specs say this speaker is 8 inches high. I am hoping it is 8.0 not 8 1/16 rounded down to 8. I know, details details, but that is where I am. So does anybody know for sure?

Mine measures exactly 8 inches, although one or two places it looks like it might be just a shade more.
michael g  Nov 12, 2016
A
Including the rubber feet it is 8 3/16 inches
michael  Nov 12, 2016
A
I measured the one that I have it is 8" exactly.
eric  Nov 11, 2016
A
I just measured mine an it is exactly 8" tall.
jose  Nov 11, 2016
A
My speaker is 8" high not measuring the rubber feet. I just measured the wood cabinet. The feet add another 1/4" or so. If I recall, the feet don't come preinstalled, but it's been a couple years since I installed them.
robert  Nov 11, 2016
A
Mine measures 8" exactly.
david  Nov 11, 2016
A
So, I just measured mine real quick for you. Using a standard wooden "school type" ruler I measured exactly 8". There is no rounded edges on the main enclosure to throw off the measurement so it is 8". I am unfamiliar with their return policy, if I were you, I'd make sure you could return it if it doesn't fit. Assuming our measurements are accurate and from what I'm looking at with MY EYE, MY RULER and MY RC-62 II....I measure more inside of 8" more like 7 31/32". Putting this inside of an 8" high shelf...cutting it very close. It may scrape on the way in. Hope this helps.
keith  Nov 11, 2016
A
Its definitely a bit over 8 inches closer to 8 1/16.

Q
i do not have room to lay this speaker horizontally ....is it ok to place it in vertical position ?
shawn  Apr 26, 2015
6 answers
A
You can put it upside down as well and your ears will not have a clue what yo have done. If you place it vertically, then you would want it close to your TV, rather than away on top of a left or right front speaker. No matter how you do it the sound will be there for you to enjoy
david  Apr 27, 2015
A
The horn is square so I think vertical orientation would be ok. However where the speaker is placed will matter. Behind a perforated projector screen would be great. Below the TV would be so-so. If the space is wide between Front L and R speakers then just buy two center speakers and flank the TV on each side. These center speakers are so clear and able to handle low and high volume with ease if powered well.
greg  Apr 27, 2015
A
Should do fine
carlos  Apr 26, 2015
A
Yes it will be fine vertical. It will need to be placed in the center of your viewing area that is of course if you are still going to use it as your center channel.
jeff  Apr 26, 2015

Horizontally only this is a big heavy speaker.Unless you attach some sort of bracket to keep it standing up.

Q
Can these speakers be wall mounted?
daryl di  Feb 27, 2015
5 answers
A
I only purchased the RC-62 II center channel speaker and I would have to say that it cannot be wall mounted. There are not holes or hangers in back, and no hardware provided to do such. Plus, with the weight and depth, I really can't imagine wall mounting it. However, I can see putting up a wallshelf and then sitting the speaker on top. Keep in mind that the depth of the speaker is about a foot. Hope this helps.
louis  Feb 28, 2015
A
No they cannot be wall mounted. You will need wall brackets of some sort as there are no wall mounting options on the back of these speakers.
jeff  Feb 28, 2015
A
Just about anything can be wall mounted. I found some flush mounting picture hardware for up to 75 lbs. I also had the wall opened up so I could get wiring concealed and a 2 x 6 brace in the wall. I do not think you would want to use only sheetrock with expanding toggles for supporting your investment. But if you can locate them over studs, you could get creative and get the job done.
david  Feb 27, 2015
A
Not without a shelf
jeffrey  Feb 27, 2015
A
Wall mounting brackets are not included in packaging, nor are they integral to the cabinet. The speakers are also quite heavy. That said, you could wall-mount if you find a suitable bracket. The rear-firing bass port should have some clearance from the wall, or room to breathe. I suspect drilling holes in the cabinet would void the warranty...

Q
Will putting a 60" LCD TV on top on the speaker hurt it?
zhen wen  Aug 15, 2014

A
Build a 3/4" plywood box to go over the speaker and spray it black. I used matte black and it looks great. The back wall of the box will give it the strength it needs. Drill for your speaker wires. You will be good to go.
david  Feb 27, 2015
A
I wouldn't put anything on top of a speaker! The speaker is heavy but so is tv...it would look very bad, in my opinion, and not very professional looking
annette  Aug 20, 2014
A
It isn't something that I did, however The speaker is pretty solid so I think that it should work.
craig  Aug 16, 2014
A
I don"t think it would hurt the speaker,These speakers are built built good.
jeffrey  Aug 16, 2014
A
Not sure I would do this...think it's likely better to mount the TV behind the speaker on a broader surface
john  Aug 16, 2014
A
I don't know how much that tv would weigh but the box is heavy and seems to be well made. Speaker sounds great to.
mark  Aug 16, 2014

I have had a Samsung 55 plasma on mine for several years with no problem
richard l  Aug 16, 2014
A
I had a 60" Panasonic plasma on top of mine for several months, no harm done.
james t  Aug 16, 2014
A
I wouldn't suggest doing this; the speaker is large and very well constructed, but not built to have a heavy television on top of it. Also, the television would not be very stable on top of the speaker and could easily fall.
mark  Aug 16, 2014
A
No it won't .

Q
the shelves on my entertainment unit are to small to fit this speaker. I was wondering if my 50" hdtv could be placed on top of the speaker.?
john  Jul 18, 2014

A
The speakers are very solid and can hold a standard LCD / DLP / Plasma HDTV. But I'm not sure I can see how this would work for you. You don't want to put the speakers next to one another...they should be to the left and right of the TV not directly next to one another.
marc  Jul 19, 2014
A
I'd say do not place the TV directly on top of the speaker, but you could call Crutchfield and see what they say. They are always very helpful and may have some ideas that could work in your situation.
david  Jul 19, 2014
A
Manny, The speaker is sturdy, but I would not do it. I made a frame-two painted black concrete blocks-8x4x16, plus a 1'' piece of wood on top, plus a piece of shelf board, screwed together, paited all black. Then I just set the frame of on top the blocks and slid the speaker underneath-using the adjustment to point the speaker up toward my ears-the TV setting on the frame and blocks. You can leave the back open to put speaker wires through-just measure the speaker and leave alittle room for adjustment. You could probably make it all out of wood but I did not have the tools for all of that, and the span is pretty wide, so must be sturdy. The speaker sounds great!
steve  Jul 19, 2014
A
I would not recommend it!
