The RP-450C features four 5-1/4" woofers for plenty of bass and midrange punch, plus Klipsch's signature 1" horn tweeter for outstanding intelligibility and sparkling clear highs.

The Reference Premiere Series difference

Never one to rest on its laurels, Klipsch has been busy refining and improving its designs to create loudspeakers that blow the doors off of its loyal followers' expectations. The new Reference Premiere Series builds on the acoustics and technologies of Klipsch's classic Reference Series, with important enhancements that provide an even more intense listening experience.

Klipsch RP-450C center channel speaker

With its Hybrid Tractrix horn and Cerametallic woofers, the RP-450C center channel speaker is built to effortlessly deliver clear, powerful Klipsch sound.

Hybrid Horn technology for dynamic performance

Horn technology is one of Klipsch's long-standing hallmarks. Flared openings in the speaker cabinet project sound waves toward your listening area and prevent them from simply spilling out in all directions. This design reduces reflections that can color the sound, and boosts dynamics and efficiency for powerful sound that remains crystal-clear at all volume levels.

Klipsch's newly designed Hybrid Tractrix® horn features a circular throat around an advanced titanium diaphragm tweeter that transitions into a square 90º x 90º mouth. This unique shape provides a cleaner, more efficient transition of sound waves into your listening space. Compared to previous Klipsch models, this horn design delivers a wider sweet spot with more precise placement of instruments and vocals. Even the horn material itself has been upgraded to molded silicone rubber that helps decrease resonance for smoother, warmer highs.

Klipsch RP-450C Tractrix horn port

The RP-450C's Tractrix horn shaped port eliminates air turbulence for reduced noise and distortion.

A horn that can enhance bass, too

Look around the back, and you'll see that instead of the conventional round port tube found on many speakers, Klipsch uses a Tractrix horn-shaped opening for smoother, more efficient airflow in and out of the cabinet. The resulting decrease in air turbulence makes for cleaner, more powerful bass with reduced port noise and low-frequency distortion.

High-tech woofer design

The RP-450C's Cerametallic™ woofers dish out smooth midrange and articulate, well-defined bass. Klipsch makes its cones out of specially treated aluminum that's strong yet lightweight, to dampen and prevent distortion. With the Reference Premiere Series, Klipsch also gave these woofers newly developed titanium voice coil formers that allow more linear movement for enhanced efficiency, lower distortion, and extended low frequency response.

Build a complete Klipsch system

Team an RP-450C center channel speaker with other Klipsch Reference Premiere Series speakers to create a high-impact home theater system.

Product Research

Features

90° x 90° Hybrid Tractrix Horns: A redesigned Tractrix Horn utilizes a circular horn throat paired to a square horn mouth to further improve high-frequency response and extension, while enhancing imaging and dynamics. The compressed molded rubber construction adds high frequency damping to reduce harshness and improve detail. This creates the cleanest, most natural sound possible. These 90° x 90° Hybrid Tractrix Horns provide a wider sweet spot while maintaining controlled directivity of the sound.

LTS Tweeters: Behind each Tractrix Horn lies a 1" titanium tweeter with a linear travel suspension for open, natural, sound. The Linear Travel Suspension minimizes distortion for enhanced, detailed performance.

Cerametallic Woofers: The four 5.25" woofers of the RP-450C center-channel loudspeaker feature Klipsch's distinctive, copper-colored Cerametallic material. Made with an anodized aluminum, this cone is strong and dent resistant. The anodizing process converts its inner and outer surfaces to ceramic. The outcome is a rigid cone with superb damping characteristics that will not flex or resonate at frequencies within the woofer's operating range The 5.25" woofers also employ a rubber surround for added durability.

Crossover Network: The Klipsch RP-450C center-channel speaker's crossover network is constructed using extremely high-quality components including top-of-the-line internal wiring, polyester film-type capacitors and an air-core inductor to ensure signal purity and proper driver integration. The speaker's enhanced crossover frequencies (500/1500Hz) offer smoother on-axis and off-axis integration.

Bass Reflex MDF Enclosure: The Klipsch RP-450C employs a bass reflex enclosure with a rear-firing Tractrix port for greater efficiency and bigger bass response. Utilizing Tractrix geometry, the all new Reference Premiere bass port allows for the most efficient, fastest air transfer from the cabinet for a clean, powerful low frequency response. The speaker's rigid cabinet offers improved internal cross-bracing to minimize panel vibrations that can color sound.

Magnetic Grille: The center-channel loudspeaker features a removable magnetic low-diffraction grille which easily snaps into place over its polymer front baffle.

Binding Posts: The Klipsch Reference Premiere series RP-450C is equipped with sturdy binding posts to ensure a secure connection to many types of cable and connectors. The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single only), pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and bare wire.

Placement: The RP-450C should be centered directly above or below your video screen. If necessary, you can place the speaker on an optional floor stand in front of and below the screen that elevates it to the correct height. Ideally, however, the speaker's front baffle should be flush with the front of the screen.

Rubber Feet: The center channel speaker comes with four self-adhesive rubber feet to secure the speaker in place and prevent any damage to your stand's or shelf's surface. The rubber feet add approximately 0.125" to the height of each speaker.

Q
My receiver is only 100 watts per channel at 5 or 6 ohms will it be enough?
big nate  Jul 20, 2018

A
My receiver is 110 and it's driving rf280's and a pair of surround along with this center speaker and it sounds wonderfull. Awesome center speaker don't go for the size under it. I did and sent it back for this one.
kenneth  Jul 21, 2018
A
My receiver puts out 150 watts per channel. This center channel speaker can handle 150 watts per channel (600 Watts max) 8 ohms. Your receiver will work fine with this speaker. If you upgraded your receiver to one that puts out what this speaker can handle it would be providing optimum performance, but it will still sound great with your current receiver.
james  Jul 20, 2018
A
What's the receivers power rating for 8ohm speakers, as the Klipsch is an 8ohm speaker. Also, are you powering other speakers along with the Klipsch using the same receiver? Klipsch are very efficient speakers and do not require a lot of power to drive them but i would recommend giving them at least 50 Watts continuous power or sometimes seen as RMS, into 8ohms. Hopefully this helps you

Q
60" plasma tv with base. Probably pushing 75 pounds. Will this speaker support the tv?
james  Apr 09, 2017

A
I think it'd be fine. I've got a 54" OLED tv, probably 35 or 40 lbs, on top of mine. My feeling is that twice that wouldn't stress it at all.
john  Apr 12, 2017
A
I have my LG 55" with abase sitting on top of my Klipsch. It's pushing nearly 60lbs. I haven't experienced any problems so far. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't support the weight. If you have. Facebook page, send me a friend request for some photos of my theater.
otis  Apr 11, 2017
A
i think it would
mark s  Apr 10, 2017
A
The centerpiece speaker should have no problem with the 60" flat screen all pending on the style of your base. My footprint has the feet toward the ends of the tv so not an option for me.
victor  Apr 10, 2017
A
This Center Channel Speaker is pretty well built. Think 75 Pounds would be pushing it
julius  Apr 10, 2017
A
i would strongly suggest you contact the manufacturer directly. While it may support, I am not sure that over time the top won't sag......ask the manufacturer directly.

Q
Can this or does this replace a soundbar?
james l  Mar 10, 2023
1 answer
A
The RP-450C is a center channel speaker designed to use with a home theater receiver as part of a surround sound system. It wouldn't be a directly replacement for a soundbar.

Q
Can the Denon AVR-S760H which is 75 watts per channel drive this?
markp  Nov 10, 2022
1 answer
A
The S760H could drive this speaker. However, depending on room size and seating distance, more power may be preferable. For detailed help with your project, please reach out to our advisors via chat or phone at 1-800-324-9695.

Q
Could I use this center channel with the Klipsch R-625 FA atmos speakers?
bill  Mar 05, 2022
2 answers
A
Yes but make sure you have enough space for your front stage. This center channel covers a lot of space and has a very wide projection. You don't want to get that muddy sound when watching movies.
michael  Mar 07, 2022
A
I don't see why you couldn't. For home theater, the larger the center the better. No one ever says I should've bought the smaller one.
craig  Mar 05, 2022
Q
Will a Yamaha RX-V581 receiver provide enough power for the RP-450C? The Klipsch website seems to indicate that at least 150 watts are needed for this speaker. Thanks.
christopher  Dec 17, 2021

A
I ended up returning it bc it was too large and got the sent size down. I do believe it requires a lot of power more than the 95 watt as per channel I have from my Yamaha TSR 7850

Q
I have a denon 3313ci 125 rms. In stereo so we all no how wattage works anyway my question is the 404c or the 450c ? Not worried about space want best performance for my power. Thanks

A
The 450c is an older model but specs out a little better (larger drivers) and goes a little lower. Both are great and would work well with your receiver in my opinion. I own both of them and have one in each system. the 404c is not as large. If you have a larger room go with the 450c. Still, both are great.
jerald  May 01, 2021
A
I really like 450c. Not putting that many watts thru it but always sounds great. Perfectly clear. Plus crutchfield has greatest service out there. They'll take care of you if you don't like it.

This is a passive speaker so yes, external power/signal from a receiver is required.
donald  Dec 11, 2020

This speaker works great but requires amplification that the TV cannot provide. May want to look at powered sound bars if connected direct to a tv.

Q
What are the differences between the RP-450C and the RP-404C? Which is the newer model released by Klipsch between these two?
ricardo  Dec 07, 2020
3 answers
A
The 404c has a 4"woofers rather than 5" on the 450c. The 404c has a slightly lower power rating amd is physically smaller and lighter. I believe the 450c is discontinued from Klipsch (the 404c is the newer, current model). I bought the 450c due to the lower price (being discontinued), very similar freq, etc specs, and I had room for the larger box. I also tend to like a slightly larger woofer for the center as they tend to sound a bit less bright. I didn't do a back-to-back to see if that was true for these two centers. My 450C is paired with CDT-5800-C II ceiling speakers and a R-120SW sub. I'm pretty happy with the overall system sound given that this isn't in a dedicated media room. Also, I'm not an audiophile so keep that in mind.
gordon  Dec 08, 2020
A
404 is 3 years newer...
david  Dec 07, 2020
A
Those are not comparable models but the RP-404C is newer. The newer version of the RP-450C is the RP-504C and the differences are largely cosmetic. The RP-404C you mention has 4" drivers whereas the RP-450C and RP-504C have 5.25" drivers.

Q
Can I placed my receiver on this speaker?
roberto  Sep 27, 2020

A
I don't think any avr or stereo reciever would safely rest on top of this speaker.. I have my rp-450c on the top of a three shelf stand, wich it takes up most of the space. My Denon 6500 is on the bottom shelf due to it wieghing 40 lbs.The performance of this center speaker is awesome , but measure to make sure it fits where you want to put it. This speaker should rest alone where ever its installed..
flavio  Sep 28, 2020
A
It is sturdy enough, very strong build. I have my TV setting on top of it. However, most receivers are deeper than this speaker (front to back) so might need a shelf board on top of speaker?
william  Sep 28, 2020
A
You should be able to. It's pretty big. It doesn't vibrate enough to move receiver

Q
will the RP 450c match well with R26FA towers?
mark  Jul 25, 2020
3 answers
A
There will be a slight color variation, because one is ebony and the other are black
jason  Aug 08, 2020
A
Not sure. I don't have the towers. I like the sound from my RP450c speaker but I do have some concerns. Video and sound travel through the speaker to monitor. So speaker controls all watch and sound functions. My monitor and speaker are mounted high on a shelf. Sitting in a chair using the remote does not always work. I have moved everything to the edge but it does not always work. The receiving apparatus is weak. It is often necessary to stand to change volume or channel. I also use this speaker via Bluetooth to listen to my music. Connecting is often difficult. Sometimes I can't connect. :( It is frustrating but the beautiful sound makes it tolerable. My wife dose not agree.
stephen  Aug 07, 2020
A
No - they should be matched to something from the Reference Premiere line, such as the RP-250F, RP-260F, or RP-280F. Those are all discontinued and the newer models are (respectively) the RP-5000F, RP-6000F, and RP-8000F.

Q
Can you mount the RP-450C to a wall?
jeff  Aug 06, 2019
3 answers
A
There are no brackets on the back to use for mounting directly, and there is a port facing out the back. It will take a creative solution, it's a hoss!
steven  Aug 08, 2019
A
No, you could not on it's own. No mounting points and this is both huge and heavy. Incredibly strong and large angle brackets possibly but it would have to be high up to achieve the size of bracket needed. I mounted mine on two center speaker stands which worked great.
peter m  Aug 07, 2019
A
You will need to use a wall brackets Pinpoint AM38CC. I installed them to beams in the wall and it holds the speaker nicely.
