Klipsch's most affordable Reference surround speakers
The RS-41 II surround speaker can easily fill smaller rooms with lifelike, engaging Klipsch sound at an entry-level price. Its angled driver design spreads ambient effects over a diffuse soundfield, completely enveloping the listener. This design also helps this speaker produce great sound even if you place it in less-than-ideal locations. Building on Klipsch's previous Reference speaker line, the Series II models have updated drivers and a new crossover system for even more spacious sound. You'll enjoy dynamic surround sound that enhances your movie experience, from soft sounds like falling rain to the roar of a dragon flying overhead. Plus, the stylishly curved grille helps minimize its appearance in the back of your room.

Horn technology for "front row" sound
All Reference Series II speakers feature a redesigned version of Klipsch's famous horn-loaded tweeter. Because high-frequency sounds are more directional than bass frequencies, it's especially important to target them right toward your ears. Klipsch places their titanium tweeter inside a flared opening, known as a "horn," which disperses the highs evenly across your listening area in a 90°-wide, 60°-high pattern. With their Series II speakers, Klipsch has redesigned the shape and slope of their famous horn enclosure, so your movie soundtracks and music will sound more "open," with improved dynamics and efficiency. All in all, you can count on powerful, "front row" sound that's crystal-clear at all volume levels.

Check out the rest of our Klipsch lineup, and build a complete Reference Series II home theater system. And don't forget to add a Klipsch subwoofer for high-impact bass.

Great match for the Klipsch surround speaker system

Written by: billgran from Florida on March 26, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently upgraded my surround system to 7.1 using Klipsch speakers exclusively. These sound great as side surrounds combined with RB-5 and RC-5 front and center speakers and the RB-41 rear surrounds.

Pros: great sound and perfect match for other Klipsch speakers

Cons: They don't come in white

Perfect Surround Sound Speakers

Perfect surround sound speakers . High quality and great sounding. True to the Klipsch brand name . I use these as my left and right surround sound speakers, and will purchase another pair to act as my front presence speakers. Crystal clear highs and mid range create a perfect 3 dimensional sound stage for my home theater. Plan to buy another pair or two to act as front presense and rear surround sound speakers.

Pros: Beautiful design. Great sound. Crystal clear highs and mid range.

Cons: None

Great surround speaker

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great speakers. I use these as back surround speakers and had to mount them higher than recommended due to room dimensions/wall space; however, movie surround effects come through loud and clear and appear to bounce all around the room (in a good way)! These also sound great when playing music in multi-stereo. Buy with confidence!

Pros: Great sound and nice/discrete look.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased Klipsch speakers to replace an old theater in a box system. There is no comparison and sound is nothing short of amazing. After also comparing Bose and Polk - Klipsch won out on sound quality and value. They brought our movie viewing experience to a whole new level. Very pleased with this purchase.

Pros: True rich sound Well made product

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have these mounted on the back wall in my small room about 2' above my head at a seated position from the couch. I was worried about getting much sound from them since my couch Is against the wall but I am impressed. They really add a good accent to my front height surround setup.

Pros: They look as good as they sound

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

During remodeling we were able to hide the rear channel speaker wires for the new RS 41 II surround speakers to complete our system which features RF 42 II front and RC 42 II center speakers and an 8" Velodyne sub. Replaced some 15 year old Polk surround speakers.

Pros: Sound quality, design, weight, and easy mounting

Cons: None!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Crutchfield technical staff helped me to put the pieces together for my home theatre system. I was not comfortable with these speakers, however the technicain convinced me that these will suit me fine. He was correct!! A million thanks to your technical staff for such an excellent recommendation. These speakers are light weight, clear and crisp.

Pros: Light weight, easy to hand, and excellent sound quality.

Cons: Could have had groove in the back to help conceal speaker wires.

Great little speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My Boston Accoustics 5.1 speaker setup was upper-end stuff when I bought it but is now several years old and when one of the surround speakers developed a "buzz," I had to replace the surround units. After doing my due dilligence research, I bought the Klipsch RS-41s. My "home theater" is what was originally a game room - big enough for a pool table, but only barely, so I didn't need anything larger. The speakers are (in my view) the proper arrangement with the outward facing midrange and the tweeter horns angling front and back. They really do disperse the sound nicely. They were inexpensive and visually unobtrusive, but fill out the surround sound even better than the Boston units did. Needless to say, I'm very pleased with these speakers!

Pros: Small size and inexpensive for a quality surround speaker

Cons: None

Surprisingly clear for the size

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

As an owner of mostly mid to higher end Polk, I was taking a leap of faith when i purchased two of these speakers to fill a void in my system. And I must admit, I have always appreciated Klipsch, but now I am a fan. These small speakers are clearer than my RTi6's. That's saying something. Polk sells those for double the price. And not that price has anything to do with it... I have always enjoyed the bright sound of Polks. Now I am finding that sound comes as a compromise for the mid-range clarity that this has. The only disadvantage of the Klipsch is when there are magnetically sensitive equipment near where I'd want to place certain speakers. Klipsch has the sound, but can make a compass tell you North is South. That being the only con I can think of.

And to be clear, this speaker will not be as full as Polk's RTi6 (or any other speaker with a larger driver (or driver/woofer combination)). But for the price, this speaker is seriously worth it!

Driver Technology

Highly-Efficient Design: The Klipsch RS-41 II utilizes a highly efficient design to produce more output using less power & energy for louder sound with less distortion. The RS-41 II is able to fill smaller rooms with outstanding, accurate, non-fatiguing surround sound that you can listen to for hours.

Wide Dispersion Surround Technology (WDST): The Klipsch RS-41 II delivers precise sonic detail through the careful positioning of two Tractrix Horn loaded titanium-diaphragm tweeters and one 4-inch woofer. By aligning the two horns at 90 degrees with respect to each other, along with a centered woofer, the RS-41 II smoothly covers a 180-degree horizontal arc, allowing maximum placement flexibility. This unique Wide Dispersion Surround Technology delivers a new dimension of reality and convenience, and produces a smooth, seamless broad distribution of sound, which is the perfect vehicle for every surround format.

Tractrix Horn Tweeters: The RS-41 II utilizes dual Tractrix Horns for a more genuine, lifelike sound. The Tractrix Horns deliver a 90-degree wide by 60-degree high dispersion pattern for a broader sound-stage. In addition, behind each horn lies a 1.0-inch titanium tweeter with a linear travel suspension for open, natural, sound.

Cerametallic Woofer: The single 4-inch woofer of the RS-41 II surround loudspeaker feature Klipsch's distinctive, copper-colored Cerametallic material. Made with an anodized aluminum, this cone is strong and dent resistant. The anodizing process converts its inner and outer surfaces to ceramic. The outcome is a rigid cone with superb damping characteristics that will not flex or resonate at frequencies within the woofer's operating range The 4-inch woofer also employs a rubber surround for added durability.

Crossover Network: The Klipsch RS-41 II's crossover network is constructed using extremely high-quality components including top-of-the-line internal wiring, polyester film-type capacitors and an air-core inductor to ensure signal purity and proper driver integration. The speaker's enhanced crossover frequencies offer smoother on-axis and off-axis integration.

Enclosure Design

Acoustic Suspension Enclosure: The 4-inch Cerametallic cone woofer and dual 1-inch titanium diaphragm compression drivers are mounted in an acoustic suspension enclosure. The sealed enclosure features a MDF cabinet finished with a Matte Black vinyl and an aluminum front baffle. The RS-41 II's rigid cabinet offers improved internal cross-bracing to minimize panel vibrations that can color sound.

Magnetic Grille: The surround loudspeaker features a removable magnetic low-diffraction grille which easily snaps into place over the front of the speaker. The speaker can be used with or without its grille in place.

Binding Posts: The Klipsch Reference Series RS-41 II is equipped with sturdy binding posts to ensure a secure connection to many types of cable and connectors. The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single only), pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and bare wire.

Mounting Options

Rubber Feet: The surround speaker comes supplied with four self-adhesive rubber feet so you can sit the speakers on a stand or shelf securely. The rubber feet add approximately 0.3125" to the height of the speaker.

Wall Mounting: The Klipsch Reference surround speaker feature a single keyhole slot on the back of the cabinet for wall-mounting the speaker without any additional wall-mount bracket (mounting screws not supplied). There is also a 1/4"-20 threaded insert on the back of each loudspeaker for mounting the speaker to the wall using an optional articulating bracket (sold separately).

Note: The 1/4"-20 threaded insert on the speaker are recessed, requiring a Pinpoint screw-kit (121RCMICRO, sold separately) to attach the speakers to a wall/ceiling bracket or speaker stand. The screws supplied with most optional wall/ceiling brackets or speaker stands are too short to mount the speakers

Placement: The Klipsch Wide Dispersion Surround Technology surround speakers in a typical 5.1-channel system can be mounted to side or rear walls. It is recommended that the RS-41 II be mounted above the ear height of seated listeners (between 5 to 7 feet above the floor).
