Team the RS-52 with other Klipsch® Reference Series speakers to enjoy rich special effects with all your favorite movies. These surround speakers feature two sets of drivers angled 90 degrees apart from each other. This clever design delivers ambient effects in a full 180-degree arc, for a diffuse soundfield that completely envelops the listener. It also allows these speakers to deliver great sound even if you place them in less-than-ideal locations. You'll enjoy dynamic surround sound that enhances your movie-watching experience, from soft sounds like crickets chirping to the roar of a jet plane flying overhead.

Horn technology for dynamic performance
The RS-52 uses horn-loaded tweeters. Flared openings in the enclosure project high frequencies toward your listening area and prevent sound waves from simply spilling out in all directions. It's the same principle that makes your voice easier to hear when you cup your hands around your mouth. This horn design brings out details in everything you listen to, while reducing reflections that can color the sound. It also improves dynamics and efficiency, for powerful, "front row" sound that remains crystal-clear at all volume levels.

    Klipsch Reference Series RS-52

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These surrounds are amazing, heavy and BIG! They look like they could be bookshelf speakers and weigh about 15lbs. The sound is very accurate and the design is such that you could pretty much place them anywhere. I purchased 4 of these and paired them with the CF-62 and RF-62 speakers, a perfect combination! Another plus is that they supply rubber nipples to apply to the back of the speaker to allow proper hanging. It will also help with unwanted vibration on the wall. As you hang them they will probably scuff your wall but it comes off easy.

The only con i can think of and this is one that plagues most surround speakers is that i could not use banana connectors. At least not the Monster ones i purchased. They stuck out too far and wouldn't allow hanging with the supplied keyhole slot. So what i did was purchase the Monster flex pin connectors and that worked great. Anything is better than just bare wire that will corrode over time.

    Product Research

Overview: The Klipsch Reference Series RS-52 is a surround loudspeaker which delivers high-performance sound using Klipsch's advanced technologies and world-class materials. The RS-52 employs dual 4-inch woofers, dual Tractrix horn-loaded 1-inch titanium tweeters and WDST (Wide Dispersion Surround Technology).

    Driver Technology

Wide Dispersion Surround Technology (WDST): The Klipsch RS-52 delivers precise sonic detail through the careful positioning of two Tractrix Horn loaded titanium-diaphragm tweeters and two 5.25-inch woofers. By aligning the two horns at 90 degrees with respect to each other, along with the two woofers, the RS-52 smoothly covers a 180-degree horizontal arc, allowing maximum placement flexibility. This unique Wide Dispersion Surround Technology delivers a new dimension of reality and convenience, and produces a smooth, seamless broad distribution of sound, which is the perfect vehicle for every surround format.

Tractrix Horn Tweeters: The RS-52 utilizes dual Tractrix Horns for a more genuine, lifelike sound. The Tractrix Horns deliver a 90-degree wide by 60-degree high dispersion pattern for a broader sound-stage. In addition, behind each horn lies a 1-inch titanium tweeter with a powerful neodymium magnet motor structure to provide a unique combination of precision, clarity and effortless dynamics.

Cerametallic Woofers: The dual 5.25-inch woofers of the RS-52 surround loudspeaker feature Klipsch's distinctive, copper-colored Cerametallic material. Made with an anodized aluminum, this cone is strong and dent resistant. The anodizing process converts its inner and outer surfaces to ceramic. The outcome is a rigid cone with superb damping characteristics that will not flex or resonate at frequencies within the woofer's operating range The 4-inch woofers also employ a rubber surround for added durability.

Crossover Network: The Klipsch RS-52's crossover network is constructed using extremely high-quality components including top-of-the-line internal wiring, polyester film-type capacitors and an air-core inductor to ensure signal purity and proper driver integration.

    Enclosure Design

Bass Reflex Enclosure: The dual 5.25-inch Cerametallic cone woofers and dual 1-inch titanium diaphragm compression drivers are mounted in a bass reflex enclosure which features two side-firing ports (one one each side). The twin side-firing ports eliminate turbulence noise, while increased baffle ribbing around the horn mouth dramatically improves acoustics across the sonic range. The bass reflex enclosure features a MDF cabinet finished with a Matte Black vinyl and an aluminum front baffle. The RS-52's rigid cabinet offers improved internal cross-bracing to minimize panel vibrations that can color sound.

Magnetic Grille: The surround loudspeaker features a removable magnetic low-diffraction grille which easily snaps into place over its cast-aluminum front baffle. The speaker can be used with or without its grille in place.

Binding Posts: The Klipsch Reference Series RS-52 is equipped with sturdy binding posts to ensure a secure connection to many types of cable and connectors.

    Mounting Options

Mounting: he Klipsch RS-52 comes with a back-panel keyhole for on-wall mounting and two threaded inserts for attachment to popular adjustable wall and ceiling brackets. The speaker also come supplied with four self-adhesive rubber feet so you can sit the speaker on a stand or shelf securely. The rubber feet add approximately 0.3125" to the height of the speaker.

Placement: The Klipsch Wide Dispersion Surround Technology surround speakers in a typical 5.1-channel system can be mounted to side or rear walls. It is recommended that the RS-52 be mounted above the ear height of seated listeners (between 5 to 7 feet above the floor).

Note: The Klipsch RS-52 surround speakers are packaged and sold individually.
