Klipsch SW-110 powered subwoofer

The Klipsch SW-110 uses a strong-yet-light 10" woofer.

Strong, accurate bass for large rooms

Whether you're watching movies or listening to music, you'll enjoy deep, intense bass with the SW-110. This powerful, high-output subwoofer uses a 200-watt amplifier to drive a strong-yet-light 10" woofer that's designed for quick, precise movement. The front slot port helps minimize turbulence for clean sound. And since the port is in the front, you won't hear unwanted "boominess" from sound reverberating off your walls and floor. That means you can place this sub just about anywhere and enjoy punchy low-frequency effects.

Product Highlights:

  • front slot port for reduced turbulence and flexible installation
  • 200-watt RMS BASH® digital hybrid amplifier
  • 10" front-firing woven fiberglass driver
  • frequency response 28-120 Hz (±3dB)
  • variable 50-150 Hz crossover
  • phase switch
  • auto on/off
  • line level/LFE (low frequency effects) input
  • speaker-level inputs
  • compatible with the Klipsch WA-2 wireless audio adapter kit for an easy connection to a sound system
  • 12-3/8"W x 14-3/8"H x 20-7/16"D
  • warranty: 2 years
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Why add a powered subwoofer?

A powered subwoofer gives you bass you can feel as well as hear. Our customers love the depth and impact their subs add to music and movies. We hear comments like "it brings out sounds I didn't know existed in discs I've watched a million times." Powered subwoofers aren't just for big bass that rattles your picture frames; they can also deliver tight, accurate lows. If you haven't shopped for a powered sub in a while, you might be surprised at how small they get. Look for an ultra-compact model if you want to tuck your sub away under an end table or in a corner.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This sub was a definite improvement over my previous Energy Classic 8" sub. I have it paired with Klipsch RF62 towers, RC52 center & RS42 surrounds running on a Yamaha Aventage RXA710 amp. The sub balanced out the with other speakers very nicely. The system sounds great listening to bass players like Wayman Tisdale, Michael Mason, Marcus Miller & Stanley Clark.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great Sub for the Price. Replaced a 6.5 Klipsch Sub that was blown by power surge. Huge difference.

Pros: Had to adjust level down to balance with the rest of my surround system. Lots or room to go on the level of sound, even at the lower level, plenty of bass. Recommendations from Crutchfield Techs were spot on! Thanks.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is well made, good looking sub with a small footprint compared to my last one. It has a nice magnetic grill that exposes the 10' woofer. I am a little disappointed with the low frequency power. For the price, I was expecting deeper base so I docked it 1 star.

Pros: Great looking, well built subwoofer. Has nice feature set. Small foot print as far as subs usually go.

Cons: Not a very powerful sub. Doesn't hit low enough for my taste.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased a Polk PSW110 back in June of 2012 & it quit working in April of this year. Contacted Crutchfield Tech. support & was sent a new amplifier, but that didn't fix the problem. Offered to take back the Polk for a full refund & I then selected the Klipsch which had a special purchase price. Great choice, & I can't say enough about the hassle free service I received from the Crutchfield staff. Great to know if you have a problem, they stand behind what they sell.

Pros: Great special purchase price, more power than the Polk, my system sounds better than ever. Thanks Crutchfield.

Cons: None so far.

Good budget sub

Written By KevinR, Ohio on Sunday, June 21, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great sub-woofer in the less-expensive category. I tried another brand first, but had to return it because it caused severe FM radio interference -- a common problem with class D amplifiers if the input stage isn't designed correctly. This one (Klipsch SW-110) with its hybrid digital amplifier caused no interference at all. The auto-shutoff works well and is a very useful feature. The sound quality is good, after adjusting low-pass filter and balancing volume level against my Axiom bookshelf speakers. It gets muddy if turned up too far, but at reasonable volumes it's exactly what I was looking for.

Pros: Auto-shutoff, lack of FM interference, multiple connection options, light weight, looks great.

Cons: Muddy at high volumes.

Great clean bass

Written By Josh, California on Sunday, June 21, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Sounds beautiful. This sub has clean and accurate bass. It when setup correctly this sub has clean bass hits and no sloppy bass that just vibrate's out all other audio. currently being used with a Denon 7.2 home theater receiver.

Pros: Clean accurate bass, great value, perfect box size and volume for a ported sub.

Cons: None

Great Sound - Easy Setup

Written By Minneapolis audiophile, Minneapolis, MN on Tuesday, June 09, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this klipsch powered sub-woofer to compliment my klipsch 3800 in wall surround sound system.

It sounds great and really fulfills the deep bass sounds that was missing in my surround sound needed to augment movies.

The powered sub woofer has some adjustments (with instruction guide from Klipsch)to allow you to adjust the sound to match your seating area and surround sound speakers.

Pros: Quick delivery from Crutchfield, very easy setup (I only needed a single RCA cable to connect it up to my surround stereo).

Cons: It was little larger than I envisioned, but it sits in the corner out of the way.

Tremundous base

Written By LadyDawn, Florida on Tuesday, May 26, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

In the past I have had base speakers on my AV system, but nothing like this heart-stopping unit. From music to movies so far it is everything I could ever hope for in a base speaker and more. With it calibrated for my other spekers in the room it fills the room with crisp hard hitting base and lows that at times are enough to wake my deaf little Doxie from a sound sleep. Poor little girl. LOL

Pros: Great thunder and room-filling base for a great price that won't break the bank.

Cons: Haven't found one yet.

Great Subwoofer

Written By AK, Illinois on Friday, May 01, 2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I use a Zvox 555 speaker for my family room television and decided to add a subwoofer since the base of the Zvox is somewhat limited. The Zvox - Klipsch subwoofer combination sounds like a complete surround sound system. With the clarity of the Zvox speaker and now the added oomph of the Klipsch subwoofer, watching movies or any music shows on television is an absolute delight. I am truly astonished how much of a difference this subwoofer has made to the sound quality.

Pros: Sounds fantastic with a Zvox external TV speaker. Easy set-up with one cable connection.

Cons: It's a sizable speaker with a fairly large foot-print so make sure you have the room.

Very true

This is one of the most musical sub for the price, I love it...

Cons: a little big on size for 10 inch sub but it's ok..

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We bought this to replace an aging Sony sub-woofer in our home theater system. We are more than satisfied. The speaker complimented our existing system and was installed with no problems. The sound is superb. We did not understand what we were missing... our home theater experience is markedly improve. As always, shopping at Crutchfield was hassle free and a pleasure.

Good but not great. Sounds okay but does not have the same deep bass of previous subwooers, the subs of 5 or 6 years ago seem to have a lot more thunder.

Pros: Great price

Cons: Okay not great

SW-110 sub

Written By Jay W, Las Vegas, NV on Thursday, April 10, 2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is my 1st subwoofer, which has been a great upgrade to my stereo system. I was never aware how much more sound came from a subwoofer alone. Blu-ray movies are amazing, I'm now re-viewing a lot films with huge gains in sound. I have a pair of Reference RF-82 II speakers which provide some bass as well, so I found the SW-110 to provide more than ample low tones for my space. This speaker can produce frequencies that will shake your furniture like a low level earthquake. Highly recommended!

Pros: crazy low tones small size auto on/off adjustment dials

Cons: none

Klipsch Surprise

Written By Chrgri217, Southern California on Monday, February 18, 2013

A company not known for subwoofers, but this model does a great job for the money. I was shopping for a sub that could handle LFE for movies as well as deliver that tight fast punchiness needed for music. After having gone through some disappointing home demos of almost all that Polk Audio had to offer I stumbled upon the SW-110 at a local Fry's Electronics. Now I was also considering other brands such as Velodyne, HSU Research, and SVS, but I am happy with the SW-110 especially that I got it for less than $400 out the door. If you can afford the other brands I just mentioned then go for it, but if you can find an SW-110 or SW-112 take home and try it out. I think the design and the quality of materials used in this sub's construction were just what I was looking for with breaking the bank.

Pros: Front slot port, fiberglass driver, front power LED indicator, BASH amp, price, and good looks.

Cons: None considering the price.

Loving it so far

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Setup was a snap and sound has been an upgrade from our previous Infinity sub. I also purchased the WA-2 wireless module to make placement in our family room more flexible.

A slight disappointment is that despite Klipsch's American-made heritage, this unit is made in China. This probably doesn't matter to most people nowadays but I do try to keep my money close to home when possible.

Pros: Auto power feature Specific connector for wireless capability Reasonable size for a 10" sub

Cons: The China factor

BASH Digital Hybrid Class AB Amplifier: The Klipsch SW-110 powered subwoofer features a highly efficient BASH digital hybrid class AB amplifier which produces reliable, high-powered sound. The built-in amplifier is rated at 200 watts RMS (450 watts Peak). The RMS power rating indicates power available on a continuous, long-term basis. The Peak power rating indicates power available for large, short-term peaks in your music or movie soundtrack.

10" Fiberglass Woofer: The Klipsch SW-110 powered subwoofer features a front-firing 10" non-resonant woven fiberglass driver with a durable rubber surround for tight musical bass.

Bass Reflex Enclosure: The Klipsch SW-110 utilizes a bass-reflex enclosure with an advanced front-firing slot port to produce tight musical bass. This highly efficient enclosure design produces more output using less energy.

Power LED Indicator: Located on the powered subwoofer's front baffle, this LED indicates the operating status of the unit's built-in amplifier. The LED will be off when the amplifier is in standby mode and green when the amplifier is on and receiving a signal.

Rubber Feet: The Klipsch powered subwoofer is equipped with four integrated rubber feet to help prevent against vibration.

Placement: Klipsch powered subwoofers are designed to reproduce deep bass and deliver the impact that makes your movies and music come alive. Typically, optimum performance will result if you place the subwoofer in  a corner of the room on the same wall as your front channel speakers.

Gain Control: The gain control of the Klipsch SW-110 adjusts the subwoofer's volume relative to the rest of your home audio system. If the Klipsch powered subwoofer is connected to the Subwoofer Output (LFE) on your AV receiver, first set the subwoofer volume level control in the receiver to the "half-way" or the "0-dB" position. Then increase the gain of the subwoofer until the subwoofer's volume level matches the output of your main speakers. After this setup is completed, the volume control of your AV receiver will be the volume control for both the Klipsch powered subwoofer and your connected loudspeakers.

Lowpass Crossover: The Klipsch SW-110 powered subwoofer features a variable lowpass crossover which is adjustable from 50-150Hz. The crossover point chosen determines where low bass frequencies are "handed-off" from your AV system's loudspeakers to the Klipsch powered subwoofer. Set the crossover point based on the size of your systems' main left/right speakers. As a general rule, for larger, floor-standing speakers, set the crossover point between 50-90Hz. If using small bookshelf or satellite speakers for your mains, set the crossover point between 90-150Hz. The smaller the speaker, the higher the setting until the bass frequencies blend well between the loudspeakers and the Klipsch powered sub. If setting the crossover point in the receiver, turn the Lowpass Filter knob on the subwoofer to the farthest point right (150Hz).

Phase: The Klipsch SW-110 powered subwoofer has an adjustable phase control which can be set between 0° and 180°. This control is used to acoustically match the subwoofer's output to your system's main speakers. Select a position between 0° and 180°, in which the subwoofer has more output at your main listening position.

Power Auto/On/Off: The Klipsch powered subwoofer features a 3-way power switch. This is the main AC power switch for the subwoofer. This switch must be in the "On" position for the subwoofer to operate or the "Auto" position for the Auto-On feature to function. Set this switch to the "Off" position if the subwoofer will not be used for an extended period of time. When this switch is in the "Auto" position, the subwoofer will automatically turn on when it senses a signal. It will automatically turn off after 20 minutes with no signal.

Line-Level Input: The Klipsch SW-110 powered subwoofer is equipped with a pair of line-level RCA-type inputs. Most of today's AV receivers have a line-level subwoofer output (LFE) labeled Subwoofer Pre Out, Sub Out, or SW Out. If your receiver has this output, connect on end of a subwoofer cable to it and connect the other end of the cable into the powered subwoofer's line-level input labeled "LEFT/LFE". This connection allows the subwoofer to operate with both music and surround sound movies. In absence of a subwoofer (LFE) output on your receiver, as an alternative hookup, you can connect Left & Right channel pre-amp outputs from a receiver to the "Left/LFE" and "Right" input on the powered subwoofer.

Speaker-Level Inputs: If your AV receiver does not have an LFE out or subwoofer preamp output, you can connect the Klipsch subwoofer to the receiver via speaker-level connection, using the powered subwoofer's 5-way binding posts. Using 16-gauge or larger speaker wire, connect the Red 'positive' (+) terminal of the AV receiver's Left channel to the Red (+) terminal of the subwoofer's Left speaker-input channel. Connect the Black 'negative' (-) terminal of the AV receiver's Left channel to the Black (-) terminal of the subwoofer's Left speaker-input channel. Repeat this procedure for connecting your AV receiver's Right channel input. The terminals on the AV receiver used to connect the powered subwoofer will be the same terminals used to connect the AV receiver to your main speakers.

Note: Take care that no bare wires from any of the connection touch any other terminals, or each other, as this could damage your equipment.

WA Port (optional): The Klipsch powered subwoofer is fitted with a proprietary 4-pin "WA-Port" connector for wireless operation, using Klipsch's optional WA-2 wireless subwoofer kit (714WA2, sold separately). The Klipsch WA-2 wireless subwoofer kit consists of two components; a wireless Transmitter & wireless Receiver. The WA-2 wireless subwoofer kit makes adding the Klipsch powered subwoofer to your home theater system much easier, because it replaces the need for a separate subwoofer cable that traditionally must be connected between the receiver and the powered sub. Now, you can easily place your powered subwoofer where it both sounds and looks best in the room since you're not restricted by an audio cable.
