Overview: The Klipsch Icon XL-12 LCR bookshelf loudspeaker has been designed with today's home theater applications featuring a flat-panel television in mind. An excellent choice for flat-panel displays, the Icon Series XL-12 bookshelf speaker flawlessly blends exquisite beauty and intelligent engineering for dynamic music and movie performance. Designed for crisp, dynamic listening, the XL-12 employs a premium titanium diaphragm compression driver and high-output fiberglass cone woofer. The XL-12 can be used as front, center or rear channel speaker.

Tractrix Horn-Loaded Tweeter: The Klipsch Icon XL-12 utilizes a 0.75-inch Titanium diaphragm compression driver mated to a Tractrix horn-loaded tweeter with XT technology, allowing the slender XL-12 to deliver an extremely smooth response with constant directivity and precise high frequencies. The XT Tractrix Horn is round in shape and delivers a 80-degrees x 80-degrees high dispersion pattern for a broader and more even sound-stage.

Fiberglass Cone Woofer: The Icon XL-12 features a single 4-inch high-output, fiberglass cone woofer with a rubber surround for intense, hard-hitting mid-bass response.

Bass-Reflex Enclosure: The 4-inch fiberglass cone woofer and 0.75-inch titanium diaphragm compression driver are mounted in a Bass reflex enclosure which features a front-firing port. The XL-12's beautifully crafted aluminum extrusion enclosure features an eye-catching black-grain anodized finish and high-gloss black accents.

Magnetic Grille: The bookshelf loudspeaker features a removable magnetic grille which easily snaps into place over its cast-aluminum front baffle. The speaker can be used with or without its grille in place.

Binding Posts: The Klipsch Icon Series speakers are equipped with sturdy binding posts to ensure a secure connection to many types of speaker cables and connectors.

Mounting: The Icon XL-12 speaker can be mounted as a front, center or rear speaker. The speaker features two threaded keyhole slots on the back of the cabinet that can be used to attach the supplied wall-mount bracket or to attach to the speakers to an optional Klipsch speaker stand (714XFS). The XL-12 comes supplied with two screws to attach the supplied wall-mount brackets to the speakers (mounting screws to attach bracket to wall not included). The wall-mount bracket is stationary and does not swivel or tilt. The LCR speaker also comes supplied with a rubber pad to protect the bottom edge of the speaker and the surface you are placing it on (the rubber pad adds 0.25" to speaker's height). In addition, the Icon Series speaker features two metal tilt rods that allows you to adjust the angle of the speaker to compensate for placement.

Placement: The XL-12 bookshelf loudspeaker can be used as a front, center, or rear speaker and is designed to perform well in a wide variety of locations but you will get the most out of the speakers by following these simple guidelines.

• Front Speaker Placement: As a front speaker, the XL-12 bookshelf speaker should be placed on a common wall 6 to 15 feet apart at the same height as each other with the high frequency drivers at seated ear height. The speaker should be angled toward the listener and even with or forward of any adjacent obstructions (if are not wall-mounted). Asymmetrical placement of a pair of speakers from adjacent side walls can smooth room-induced bass unevenness.
• Center Speaker Placement: As a center speaker, the XL-12 LCR speaker should be placed immediately above or below the center of your video display. The speaker is supplied with a tilt rod to compensate for placement above or below seated ear height.
• Rear Speaker Placement: As a rear speaker, the XL-12 loudspeaker should be placed above seated ear height (approximately 4-5 feet above the floor) on side or rear walls or on optional floor-stands.
