Our take on the OWLink FO2800

Enjoy all your high-definition movies and TV shows on any HDTV in your home without running thick, bulky cable across your floor or through your walls. The OWLink FO2800 carries high-definition video and stereo audio over a single, flexible cable that's about as thin and lightweight as fishing line. You can use this innovative system to watch a movie playing in your living room Blu-ray player on your bedroom TV, or to connect your television to components hidden away in a cabinet. It even carries remote commands, so you can control your components without the need for extra cables or remote repeater systems.

High-definition video and stereo audio through an ultra-thin cable
The FO2800's fiber optic cable can carry video, audio, and infrared (IR) remote commands up to 1000 feet with no interference or signal loss. And it's only around 1/16" in diameter. So unlike thick HDMI cable, it's easy to run along baseboards and around door frames. Plus, the cable's transparent, so it virtually disappears into your room. You can run it right up the middle of your wall and it's barely noticeable. You can also paint, spackle, or caulk over the cable for an even more inconspicuous look.

How it works
The FO2800 system features a separate transmitter and receiver. Just connect your Blu-ray player, HD satellite receiver, or high-def cable box to the transmitter with the included HDMI cable. Then, connect the receiver to your HDMI-equipped TV, and link the receiver to the transmitter with the included 30-meter fiber optic cable. The system also includes an IR sensor and emitter so you can control the source component with its regular remote. The receiver's compact design and pre-attached mounting tape let you fasten it to the back of your TV for a clean installation.

Expanding the system's capabilities
Out of the box, the FO2800 lets you connect one source to one TV. If you would like to connect additional components, simply add an HDMI switcher to the transmitter or use the HDMI switching capabilities of your home theater receiver.

Features

Overview: The OWLink FO2800 Digital Light Link is an innovative connectivity system that is capable of transmitting high definition video, audio, and control signals simultaneously down one thin, transparent, fiber optic cable at distances up to 300M. This system uses no compression, and supports Hollywood approved content protection, HDCP. Focused on improving the digital home, FO2800 Digital Light Link allows you to place your home electronics in the most convenient places in your home without running cable through your walls. The FO2800 system supports 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080P (24/30fps). The OWLink F02800 Digital Light Link system consists of an AC powered Receiver and Transmitter, 98' Fiber optic cable with proprietary DLI connectors, two HDMI cables (20" and 40"), and an IR emitter as well as IR sensor.

Receiver and Transmitter: The F02800 consists of a Receiver module and Transmitter module which are both powered by AC current using the supplied AC power adaptors. Each unit features an 3.5mm IR connection, a proprietary DLI port, and HDMI port. The HDMI cable from your audio/video component such as a DVD player is plugged into the Transmitter, the supplied 300' fiber optic cable is then run from the Transmitter to the Receiver in another location of the room or your home. An HDMI cable is then run from the F02800's Receiver to your A/V receiver or television.

Transparent Fiber Optic Cable: The F02800 comes supplied with a 98' transparent fiber optic cable with proprietary DLI connectors on each end that runs from the system's Transmitter to the system's Receiver in another location of the room or your home. The fiber optical cable features a transparent PVC jacket which is only 0.9mm in diameter making it almost invisible. The transparent thin cable is similar to fishing line with respect to size and weight. Plan to secure the fiber optic cable to the wall using invisible tape, clear silicon, or another form of adhesive.

HDMI Cables: The OWLink FO2800 system comes supplied with two HDMI cables (20" and 40") with male HDMI connectors on each end to plug from your DVD player or Satellite Tuner to the system's Transmitter and from the system's Receiver to your A/V receiver or television.

IR Emitter and Sensor: The FO2800 Digital Light Link system comes supplied with an IR emitter and Sensor so you can still control your DVD player or Satellite tuner which is in a different location than your television and/or AV receiver. The IR sensor plugs into the back of the Transmitter while the IR emitter plugs into the rear of the Receiver. By pointing your audio/video component's remote at the IR emitter, it then transfers that control signal to the IR sensor plugged into the Transmitter.

Multi-Room Audio/Video: The OWLink F02800 can be used in a multi-room audio/video application. A multi-room configuration requires an A/V switch and on FO2800 system per display.
