With the SoundBase 220, ZVOX delivers their powerful platform speaker technology in a version sized for smaller TVs. Flexible connection capabilities include analog and digital audio inputs, for both newer and older TVs and components. Best of all, you'll enjoy clean sound that's surprisingly robust.
If you can't hear what the actors are saying, it's nearly impossible to follow the story. That's why ZVOX created a dialogue enhancement feature that gives voices new clarity and prominence. What's more, ZVOX knows how sponsors love to blast us out of our seats when they go to a commercial break. Thanks to the output leveling feature, the SoundBase 220 keeps commercials on a short leash so you can just relax.
This one-piece system houses three full-range speakers, a high-output woofer, and built-in amplification — there's no need to use a separate receiver or run wires to any external speakers. Plus, the 220 is designed to serve as a convenient base for smaller flat-panel TVs with screen sizes up to 32". Even older TVs sit perfectly atop this sturdy wooden cabinet that can support up to 120 lbs. Place the SoundBase directly underneath your TV and you won't have to worry about making extra room for it on your entertainment stand.
The SoundBase 220 is a great place to plug in your iPod® or portable player for terrific sound. It has a minijack input on the front panel for easy access. Its front-panel display lights up from behind the front cloth grille to show you volume and mode then disappears when not in use. The system also learns the commands of your TV remote, giving you one less clicker to keep track of. Signal-sensing circuitry powers the system on and off along with your TV.
Add big sound to your TV without a roomful of speakers. Sound bars require minimal space and wiring, and their sleek designs complement today's flat-panel TVs. Most sound bars have their own built-in amplification, so you won't need to use a home theater receiver. Some models use advanced surround processing and carefully aimed speaker drivers to simulate the effects of a full home theater audio system.
This is a great easy set-up soundbar.
Great product! This was purchased to use with an older LG 28" LCD TV in the exercise room/smaller spare bedroom. Admittedly it was a pretty low bar, but the sound improvement was as expected impressive. Great improvement for both voice and for music on the cable music streaming channels. This provides good quality room filling sound for a smaller room. Five minute plug-and-play setup and a neat clean-looking installation with the TV sitting on top of the Zvox unit. I think I need a larger one for the 50" plasma in the bedroom.
Pros: Great sound, easy setup, looks good, quick Crutchfield delivery
My wife has a minor hearing problem and, as a result, the TV volume needs to be annoyingly loud. This product makes an unbelievable change in sound fidelity and clarity. TV volume requirement is about half what it used to be. Highly recommended.
Excelent product and convenient size!!!!
Pros: easy setup!!!! great sound for the price
Cons: Bluetooth connectivity
This is the first Crutchfield product that I will be returning. I will exchange this for a better sound bar. This wasn"t better sound than my Toshiba TV-just louder .
Not much to say except Wow! A great product for the money. I am impressed. I have a small flat screen in my bedroom and this sound bar makes a huge difference.
Great product for televisions that do not have good speaker systems and are hard to hear clearly. You will think you just purchased a Bose sound system for less cost. I cannot believe how easy the system is to install and how great it sounds. I highly recommend this product and would purchase it again absolutely!! A+
Pros: Great sound with reasonable cost and easy install...I would recommend to family or friends absolutely! Great product at a preferred price.
If like Me, You have a hard time hearing dialog thru the Mini Speakers on most Flat Screen TVs...this is a simple, effective answer.
Pros: Super easy Set-up
Received one day after placing order, hooked up in 10 minutes, learned to use it in 10 more minutes. Sounds fantastic! The dialog clarity setting really works, and my tv no longer has to be played as loud as it had been without this speaker system. I am very pleased with this product, and couldn't recommend it more.
Pros: Ease of set up and use, and the fact that the dialog enhancement works, and works well.
Cons: Wish it had USB input.
I purchased this unit for my older mother and she absolutely loves it! She no longer needs closed captioning because the dialogue is clear, loud and enhanced. She's amazed at how many background sounds she now hears that she never knew existed before. She also likes the fact that the TV is higher now that it sits on the base. All in all, she is simply thrilled with this unit and wishes she had it years ago!
Pros: Excellent sound, excellent clarity, easy setup, good price.
I have never seen an electronic component that was as easy to install as this was. It took me longer to unpack it than to install it ! It easily programmed to my DirecTV remote. Now just one click and everything is on and ready ! Dialogue is so much clearer than my previous soundbar (SONY). It is great for music also, but I could use a bit more bass. All in all this is a terrific unit for the price point.
Pros: Ease of set-up, great sound, easy to program to your current remote
Cons: A little more bass would be nice....
Instant improvement to sound quality. I can hear all of the dialogue without having to turn the TV up to 45. Great unit, great price.
Pros: Easy set-up and easy to program TV remote.
Cons: Not a one.
I bought this unit as a sound enhancement for the bedroom TV. I didn't need the unit to use as a base, as the TV is wall mounted, but I also didn't want a free standing subwoofer in the bedroom - so this seemed to fit the need.
After hookup, I had some difficulty in getting sound from the unit. I called Crutchfield and was assisted through the setting change necessary on the Google Fiber TV box. The PCM setting needed to be applied on the Google device, even though the Zvox is being fed from the TV via digital optical cable.
The sound is much better than the stock TV speakers (40" Sony) with the biggest improvement being in dialogue, which is what we needed. There is obviously much more overhead in volume range over the small stock speakers. But, the audio quality has that "sound from a box" sound, so if you're looking for superior audiophile quality from the Zvox, you should look elsewhere. But for the price, size, and convenience, it is adequate for me.
Pros: Clear dialogue, good volume, good sound range, "all in one" unit
Cons: "sound from a box" sound
The theme here seems to be grandma and her TV. I think we fended off an insurrection with this device. It's simple and she likes it. And her flat has thick walls, so no neighbors pounding on the door. Can't speak to Bluetooth connections: hers is a CRT house.
Pros: Quick set up, ample volume, simple.
Cons: Probably won't support the ancient CRT it amplifies, but one thing at a time.
Finally purchased a high end entertainment furniture unit. Got me to thinking about downsizing all the Hi Fi stuff. It was clear the center speaker would not have a new home in the unit. Not to mention switching between remotes to run the sound from DVD,and TV thru the Home receiver. Sound Bars? So went to Crutchfields ( as I have for the past 25 years) and started to review my options. After reading the reviews from customers and noting the dimensions of the ZXOX unit;I decided to try it. Well three days later it arrived (optical and analog connections included) and I hooked it up in about five minutes. Then I followed the instructions and within 10 minutes I had programed my Sony TV remote for the ZVOX. How did it sound to me? I went to Netflix and put on "Daredevil" and brought up one of the fight segments. I couldn't believe it. It sounded great.I tested it with Pandora for music and was equally impressed. I demo'ed it for my son in law and he's going to order one. Which led me to reconsider the whole set up. I will buy next the NAD integrated amp from Crutchfield and use it for my music and if I want DVD sound thru the fixed audio outputs on my Sony. I have the NAD cd player and it is quality in every respect. Audiophiles, may scoff at my pedestrian remarks but the proof is in the sound. If you watch your money but want the best possible bang for your buck, the ZVOX is a clear choice. Stand alone or part of a total system I'm sure you'll love it.
Pros: Great sound, ease of set up and remote capability.
Exellent Sound Bar
Pros: Very Good Sound and Price
This is a tremendous product, very high quality look and feel and most importantly SOUND. Connection to TV was simple and variety of cables are provided to work with your TV. This is an analog device so you just need to be sure to set the output on your TV if it doesn't make the adjustment automatically based on the output used. Sound quality for TV is very good and the dialog enhance works well. There are three surround sound settings and I like that none of them is really over the top, but they do provide a nice natural full sound depending on the source. To be honest, I don't watch much TV, and I've used this mostly for listening to music through and iPod. I'd rate it very good for music, loud and clear enough for a decent sized living area. It sounds best at moderate volume and the more I listen the more I notice greater detail in the music, such as individual instruments. The unit did seem to take a few hours of play to break in the speakers. Admittedly I hooked it up when it was still cold from being on the delivery truck in winter weather, so perhaps that is the cause. So it sounded tinny and dull for a few hours and I was wondering what the fuss was about, and then it opened up and sounded like the decent hi-fi system that it actually is.
Pros: Good build quality, solid sound performance
Cons: None so far
The LED TV I purchased had great picture but poor sound quality, especially on dialog. Crutchfield Advisor (Stone) recommended this as a solution. It dramatically improved the sound from the TV and was very easy to program my Comcast remote to turn on the unit and adjust the volume. Very pleased with the purchase.
Pros: Good sound quality All needed cables included Attractive box that sits under the TV
Excellent choice for a sound "bar" I have this connected to my 32" HDTV. A great choice for the price.
Pros: Would definitely buy again and recommend to anyone looking for great sound.
Cons: No Bluetooth
Just bought a 24" Samsung Smart TV. Great picture, dreadful audio. Tried computer speakers but no remote volume control. Just installed ZVOX 220. I now have a great picture and great sound.
Pros: Simply installation and remote programing instructions.
The unit works very well.Installation was a snap and the price was great.
Pros: The soundbase does everything I expected it to do.
This gem is at a great price, performs as expected, and fits my need perfectly. Expected this sound base to provide dialogue clarity with some movie punch and it provides just that. This is not an audiophile unit nor should you expect it to be, but it is a great value for limited spaces with today's very thin panel TVs.
Pros: Size, sound and easy setup. Works seamlessly with my other equipment and remotes too.
Cons: Would like the volume (loudness) increments to be smaller, but that is a preference and does not negatively reflect on the performance of this sound base.
I bought this for my Mom, who is 95 and wears hearing aids. She complained that she can hear alright, but that she can't distinguish voices. She would love to watch, but has limited herself to music. This device has changed her mind. She loves it and says she can understand everything andone says--including British accents. The device isn't their high end, but has virtually every feature she needed including dialogue clarification and surround sound. The only down side is the Learn function. If anything doesn't finish in this process, there is no way to go back. You have to disconnect and start all over. Instructions offer no assistance in this regard. I had to call Crutchfield. Once you get it going, however, you're home free.
Pros: Features are great and just the right ones. Connection is easy
Cons: Learn function is difficult if the process has the slightest glitch. Instructions allow for no errors.
Great sound compared to tv & easy to connect. Good price also & good people to deal with.
A good product at a good price. It does what it says it will. We have a small TV in the bedroom that has very tinny speakers. This does enhance the sound to give it more volume and with a much better sound quality.
Pros: Easy hook up. It is small enough for our space and the TV sits nicely on top of it.
Cons: Although the sound quality is very good, I do wish it had a little more bass.
The Zvox 220 is an awesome sound system for anyone who wants crisp clear sound without breaking the bank! I hooked it up to my new 39 inch Samsung LED and could not be happier. The quality of the sound is amazing especially when you take the price into account. The surround sound mode is not real surround sound sound, but if your watching a good action movie, it will greatly improve your viewing experience! I am not a huge electronics guy, but for the average consumer you will not be disappointed.
Pros: Crispness of sound Volume Projection Quality Price Clean simplistic looks
This product is everything I was looking for. It's easy to set up and it connects with my regular remote so the volume and power buttons are synced. The sound is good and has made TV watching more enjoyable.
much better than the Shape box it replaced
does a really good job in the small room its in.
Pros: very good sound from a small box
This box is awesome! I never dreamed that the words could be so clear above the background music in movies and everything else, too. Somebody wrote a review that the TV had a fuller sound than the box so they sent it back. My answer to that is we use the TV volume control which gives us the "fuller" sound of the bass and we also have the ZVOX volume which does give you more of the 'treble' for the voices. It is no trouble at all to control both volumes. It is not wise to turn off the sound of your TV control because then you get just what the other person said and that is only the voices and not any bass. They work beautifully together and feels like in the movie theatre.
Pros: It does not take up much space at all. It was easy to install and easy to operate. It works well with other remotes.
Cons: There are zero cons to this miracle box.
The box greatly improved the listening quality for the TV in my kitchen. I used the optical cable which I also have for my big screen television which is set up as 5.1 with a powered base in my entertainment room. Setup could not have been any easier! Instructions made it very easy to program the Direct TV remote to also control the ZVOX Z-Base V220.
This little audio base is hooked up to my 27 inch iMac using a mini toslink to toslink. The audio is great and my desk is clutter free. It does raise the iMac a bit higher than I am used too but the tilt on the iMac helps. At first I didn't know that the iMac had a digitial audio option so I used the RCA option. Sound was crap. The lows were horrible and the highs were not as good. I plugged the digital wires to the ZVOX and it was like day and night. Digital is the only way to go. I would highly recommend this sound base if your device has digital capabilities.
Pros: Less clutter on desk. Audio is amazing. Setup is easy. It has a very clean look to it. Very smooth and easy on the eyes for today's modern technology.
Cons: Audio is horrible when using analog cables.
A great product , just as advertised . I have a main stereo/theater system , I am more into music . I bought Zvox for my 2nd TV I use in my Florida room when watching baseball or whatever during warm evenings . It is a great improvement , way better sound and dialog . It serves as a good TV base , nice and compact , good product , great price . Very good sound for regular TV programming .
Pros: Good sound in a compact size . Just what I wanted , just as advertised by Crutchfield . Delivered in 3 days .
Cons: none .
Well, I'm not sure this was worth it. I'm slightly hard of hearing, so I can make the TV louder, but the dialogue isn't clearer.
Really enjoying my ZVOX and it was very easy to hookup. The only tricky part was the syncing the DIRECT TV remote with the unit. Although I got some help with Crutchfield Tech Support, I had to call ZVOX to finish the syncing. There were a couple of things not included with the unit that it appears only ZVOX was aware of. Not a problem though and would definitely purchase through Crutchfield again
We have a TV mounted on a swivel on the wall and it wouldn't quite work with a sound bar and my wife wasn't interested in having a sub box sitting on the ground so this left the best option for the component shelf. I was a bit apprehensive about it and didn't think I would get the sound I was looking for out of the ZVOX. I have been pleasantly surprised at its sound and even has a bit of the bass that I wanted. It certainly doesn't compare to the theater room we have in the basement but then again, I wasn't expecting it to. I would put it on par with other sound bars I have heard and even put it about a regular sound bar with no sub. Great option for table mount TV's as well. For the price, it was a great option. Definitely better then the TV sound.
Pros: Small package with no extra sub. Easy to hook up. Volume control goes away after a few seconds so you don't have to stare at it.
Cons: Another remote.
After many e-mails to Crutchfield and ZVOX, they both conceded that the instructions supplied with the speakers to integrate the AUX button on the Comcast remote was not accurate. I tried everything that was suggested, and the remote turned on the speakers and then immediately turned them off. I then had to hit another button on the remote to turn on the speakers. A minor inconvenience, but something that should be corrected by ZVOX. Otherwise, the sound is a definite improvement over the TV speakers.
Pros: Sound is improved.
Cons: Incompatible with the Comcast remote.
I read through a bunch of reviews on soundbars before deciding on the ZVox 220...It was an "open box" which made the deal sweeter. After making the proper hook-up and enjoying the improved sound of my LG set, I found that not mentioned in other reviews is the fact the remote that came along with the unit was programmable and was easily "synced" to the remote that came with the LG. What a BIG plus.
Pros: programmable remote
Cons: none so far
First unit I received didn't work. Spoke to the Zvox folks - I sent the defective unit back and they sent me a new replacement which worked fine. Sound is much better than the TV's speakers (32" Vizio) but "soft" conversations are still a tad difficult to hear.....but certainly better than the TVs speakers. I was hoping the Zvox was going to make a big difference in sound quality but as it turns out, it's just a slightly noticeable improvement.
Pros: Easy to set up. Improved sound over just the TVs speakers.
Cons: Not the big improvement in sound I was hoping for.
I bought this to use with a Samsung Flat Screen LED thinking it would have better sound than the TV. Both me and my wife agreed that the TV provided fuller sound so I ended up returning it.
Pros: Extremely easy to hook up and program to a direcTV remote.
Cons: Didn't provide the full rich sound I was looking for.
I bought the ZVOX 220 to improve the sound coming from my 32" TV. This did not disappoint. The TV sound was tinny and the ZVOX considerably made it sound fuller. My TV is a Vizio.
If you put ZVOX-V220 and satellite TV box each on other, ZVOX can interfere with the TV box (electromagnetic action of speakers?!) - loosing signal when you watching TV. Before to call to TV-company check your system for this problem. Just put the Power switch off on ZVOX. If it is, you have to divorce the units or (what I did) put the metal plate between them.
Pros: Better sound than Sony TV-set speakers give you.
Cons: No socket for headphones.
Right size to fit under tv. can hear tv over the parakeets.
Right size to fit under tv. can hear tv over the parakeets.
Pros: Good size. Live music sounds great.
Cons: Although it came with three types of connectors it did not have one for my setup.
I have an older model for some time. [575HDS] that I am very please with. So I needed another small soundbar for the bedroom. Was looking at the Boss Solo, but settled with this one. I am glad I did. Fast delivery, great sound and lower price. Would highly recommend, especially with lower price now.
Pros: Great sound. New lower price. Easy setup.
Unit arrived quickly as promised and installed like a dream. Small question on remote activation was answered promptly and courteously by ZVOX staff. Certainly has plenty of power, far more than I would ever need, but still didn't help with quiet conversation in movies, no matter how I tried to adjust the settings. Since this was my purpose in purchasing it, I reluctantly had to return it. Crutchfield staff also very polite and helpful
Pros: Easy installation. Plenty of power for such a small unit.
Cons: Didn't help me with soft conversation.
I purchased this ZVOX 220 from Crutchfield. I received it within 3-days with FREE shipment. My purpose for the ZVOX was to keep wifey from wasting my 55-inch Samsung LED HDTV speakers listening to her soaps and talk shows. The Samsung TV is excellent, but like most thin TV, the speakers produce scratchy and tinny sounds. Wifey does not appreciate good sound. Hence, It was not fun having her using the 7.1 Onkyo HTS for her simple TV programs. Yes, I agree other customer reviews, it's an excellent system, it's compact but has great full-body sound. In fact, now I can honestly stand to be in the same room as wifey when the ZVOX going.
As with most products, the instructions are quite disjoint. At first I tried using the DirecTV to program the ZVOX. It did not work. After about a 1/2 hour, I tried the Samsung TV remote to program the ZVOX. The ZVOX responded just like the regular TV when using the remote. Then I tried the DirecTV remote which was already set to control the TV & DirecTV receiver. The DirecTV remote controlled the ZVOX just like the regular TV remote.
My setup: The Samsung's audio Optical output is connected to the ZVOX audio Optical input. The 7.1 Onkyo HTS audio input is connected via Samsung's HDMI/ARC output. The Samsung speaker select menu was set to External TV speaker.
Based on the results, I now have two audio systems completely independent of each other. Thanks to ZVOX, I have the best of both worlds.
Pros: Can be programmed to control VOLUME, MUTE, and POWER just like the DirecTV remote does for the TV Does not run hot after hours of continuous operation..
Cons: The setup guide is a bit too confusing especially the part that is suppose to lead the user into using the ZVOX Learning mode to program the remote. There is no need to discuss the cable or satellite remote, when it's the TV remote which should be used in the ZVOX Learning mode.
Aside from the fact that the first remote I got didn't work. That was resolved, the product is excellent it's just enough sound that I need With great quality. Thank you
Pros: Compact, easy to set up . No fuss straight out of the box
Cons: Only problem I see is if you have a TV where you can't turn off the internal speakers When you raise the volume on the unit the tv volume comes up as well.creating a doubling effect kind of sound
After reading all the reviews and doing all my homework I decided that this was the exact item for me. I cannot tell you how happy I am with that decision. I have it in a small TV room maybe 15 by 20 and the sound is spectacular. it changes the way that movies and music are enjoyed from my TV.
Pros: Hookup was way to easy.
Excellent system, compact but great sound. It was only one that would fit in our entertainment center shelf. It has base and treble adjustment, dialog enhancement works very well and much better price than the Bose. Very pleased with the product for the money.
Pros: same as above
This was a perfect find for our space limitation and sound delivery need. The speaker as a base for a light weight flat screen TV was just the ticket. We are impressed by the sound quality; the depth, with good bottom end and the crispness of the highs, The voices on movie soudtracks are easy to understand (no more CC). Great music and sound, what more do you need from a TV speaker?
Easy to set up with better-than-average instructions for the unit and the remote. The unit has a nice learning/programming feature that allows you to transfer most of the functions of the remote to an existing TV or Cable remote. I noticed a dramatic increase in sound quality over the TV's speakers and the Surround function works remarkably well. Decent highs and lows, but the midrange really stands out. This is not a substitute for a high fidelity system, but is perfect for under a bedroom TV.
Pros: Multiple input options. Seems sturdy. Clean lines. Great sound for the size.
Cons: Does not ship with coaxial digital cable.
Very easy to set up and use. Fits perfectly under 32 inch tv in bedroom. The Tv's own speakers are not loud enough to be heard over air conditioner and street noise; now, that is not a problem. The fake surround is surprisingly good, and the sound is not buttressed by unnatural bass. And the price is very reasonable, and Crutchfield service is excellent. Recommended.
Pros: Price; size; ease of use; sound quality.
This is the 2nd one of these I have purchased. The first went in my guest house in Utah and this one is at my summer cabin on the lake. It is simply to set up and really helps the sound with DVD's and I can play Pandora through the speakers. I like that the TV can sit on top. This is a good product and priced well.
Pros: Small compact, good sound easy to set up
Cons: I need to figure out how to keep it turned off since it doesn't play TV sound when I turn on the TV it comes booming on with some weird noises.
We purchased the ZVOX ZBASE V220 to enhanced the sound form a 32 inch tv. My sister in law was having a hard time hearing the sound from the tv. The ZVOX sure did the trick. The sound is so much better that that which came out of the original tv speakers. Another plus was how easy it was to set up. We would highly recommend this unit. As usual, Crutchfield was most helpful in choosing this unit and getting it shipped out.
Pros: GREAT SOUND FOR SUCH A SMALL UNIT. IT IS GREAT THAT THE TV SITS ON TOP.
We all know TV speakers suck, and in those installations/locations where a home theater is impractical an alternate solution is required. The V220 is the solution in my bedroom where the 50" wall mounted Samsung plasma had awful sound to go with its stunning picture. What a difference this little box makes. Great sound, wide soundstage, a hint of surround, clear dialogue and vocals, output leveling, optical digital input, tone controls on the remote, what's not to love? And IT PLAYS LOUD without a hint of distortion when the Blu-Ray player demands it. Granted, it is not my Def Tech setup in the living room home theater, but I never tire of listening to it, and that is high praise indeed. ZVOX, you rock!
Pros: Compact size, great sound, ease of use.
I am a Crutchfield believer. I have a bigger ZVOX hooked to my 50" set. I had bought a 32" Samsung from Crutchfield and really like the set but not the sound. The ZVOX makes all the difference. Crisp sound without having to blast the volume.
Pros: Inexpensive, easy to set up.
Cons: Not really a con. The Samsung set does not allow me to turn off the speakers. I wanted them off so I had to fiddle with the volume controls on the set and the ZVOX so that the volume on the set was off at the level we wanted to listen.
Great soundbar for small TV. Bought a 24" television for the kitchen. The sound on smaller TVs leaves something to be desired so we searched and purchased the ZVOX based on others reviews. We were not disappointed with the ease of installation or the quality of the sound.
Pros: Small size, easy install
Cons: No cons for the ZVOX only the fact that most smaller TVs have no way to turn off their speakers which means we could not teach the cable remote to operate the sound. Have to use 2 remotes, 1 for on/off, channels and the other for sound.
Mighty fine equipment for the money!
Product lived up to expectations. Moderately easy to set up; instructions clear and concise. Sound quality quite good and with enough controls to satisfy different program circumstances. Size and price just right.
Pros: Size, price, good sound, flexible controls
Even though this was from their scratch and dent store everything was in the box and it worked fine.
Pros: Easy to install
The additional clarity and sound quality was exactly what we wanted. The base is in an enclosed cabinet but the sound projects just fine. We weren't looking for true surround sound, just better quality and we got just that. My wife likes to listen to the sat. dish's music channels and now she can hear the music.
Pros: Easy to install. Reasonable cost. Good quality sound.
Cons: Need to make sure the TV speakers are sync'ed to the base. Our TV doesn't have the ability to turn off the speakers so the volume adjustment needs to be the same for both speakers in the TV and the box to sound right.
The easiest and best sounding speaker bar I have ever used. Two mins to set up and WHAMO. This Lil box sounds extremely detailed and plays LOUD. I have readreviews stating sub woofer shook the whole TV. I have topped my V220 with a 47 inch Sony LCD. The base is just one inch smaller than the v220. No shakes or rattles of any kind. So easy to set up to my ATT Uverse remote. I will admit the Surround leaves it a little short but the three different settings are useful and noteable both on TV and DVD. Great midrange and highs. To my ears the lows are perfect and yes you can feel the impact. Dialouge emphasis is outstanding, If nothing else worth the price of unit aolone.. Build quality and fit and finish are excellent. I have not been this excited about TV since cable came about. Buy this , YOU WILL NOT regret it.
Pros: Small size. Solid wood cabinet. Fit and finish. Ease of hook up. Clear sound.
Cons: Lacks a little bit in surround sound area but still ACCEPTABLE.
Couldn't be more pleased with the ZVOX. The size is perfect for out 32" tv and the sound is unbelievable.
Pros: Impressive sound
Just received, great directions, easy to use and the sound is wonderful...makes all the difference in the world! Would definitely recommend and buy again. Crutchfield was very prompt on delivery and communication!
Pros: Ease of use, quality product
Cons: Setting up with local remote, easy but not that easy.
I am using the ZVOX Z-Base V220 in my kitchen and it's a vast improvement over the TV speakers. The ZVOX has a small footprint and fit right under the Direct TV receiver. Connections and setup are extremely simple and I can operate the ZVOX using the Direct TV remote, which is a plus. The device has decent sound quality and a number of preset sound modes that can be used to enhance dialogue, increase surround effects, reduce volume during commercials, etc. ZVOX claims a frequency response of 55 Hz- 2 kHz so, while it's adequate for my kitchen application, you'd probably want one of their larger units for your primary TV setup.
Pros: Good sound quality overall Easy to connect and setup Small form factor
Cons: Dialogue enhancement OK but not great (could be due to speaker location, room interaction, etc.)
I wanted some way to boost the audio quality of my 32" Sony Bravia, but was constrained by 1) furniture size; and 2) budget size. Most regular sound bars were simply too big for my TV cabinet. So I thought I'd try the ZVOX since it fit under the TV. I've had the unit for a couple weeks now, and am very pleased. I ordered it from Crutchfield on a Monday and got it Friday (with standard shipping). After reading the materials (there's a quick set up guide), I had it installed in about 10 minutes. Synchronizing my (AT T U-verse) cable remote took a bit longer, but after about 30 minutes I was set and ready to go. The sound, while not "home theater" quality, was still far and away better than TV alone. The black front looks fine (volume indicator goes off moments after level is set/reset), and lifting the TV monitor a few inches up helps with viewing, too. Audiophiles might scoff, but this was exactly what I needed.
Pros: Easy to install. Very nice sound quality. Perfect for those who want audio improvement but don't want to invest in a home theater system, or don't have the room to do so.
Cons: none yet
Very nice unit. Using this in the bedroom with a 26" TV. Used to have to turn the TV up high to understand dialog in the shows, now can play at a low volume and hear everything quite well. Lots of inputs and like the fact that it shows no lights when on or off.
Pros: Great sound, fits nicely under the TV.
Product works as expected. Had to get with ZVOX customer support to set up due to my 39" Toshiba not having an internal speaker cut-off capability (why Toshiba would have all the external audio jacks w/o this cut-off is beyond me, but that's a different story). Only problem is a loud sub-woofer pop when the unit is turned off with the Direct TV remote. Customer support was no help, almost indifferent to this problem.
Pros: Works as expected, low end price for a 2nd TV.
Cons: Set up difficulty, sub-woofer pop when turned off.
Simple to set up, sound quality is a huge improvement over my TV speakers. Called customer support with a customer support with an issue with the triggering of Auto Standby . The Customer Service agent was very knowledgeable and helped to isolate the problem, which was caused by the cable signal and not caused by the Z-Base.
Pros: Setup is very easy. Sound quality is great. Compact form factor looks nice. Affordable.
For awhile I thought I was losing my hearing. I could see people's lips moving on TV shows, but what they were saying was badly garbled. Same with music, especially on the lower notes. On talking with a Crutchfield rep it was suggested to me that a supplementary speaker system would be of great help. Most TV sets, especially the smaller ones, do not have the space to install larger speakers. The ZVOX Z-Base V220 V220 was recommended as a likely remedy for my problems, so I ordered one from Crutchfield. Written setup instructions were minimal but adequate, especially on the use of the supplied remote. A couple of calls to Crutchfield's tech support quickly resolved them. A good feature is that this equipment may be programmed to operate with your regular TV remote. Bottom line: It constitutes a great improvement over your original equipment.. I highly recommend it.
Pros: Much better sound from your TV.
Cons: Setup a bit difficult. Be sure to read the instructions twice before attempting it. Crutchfield's tech support is of great help here if and when necessary.
Sounds just as good as the 550 we have in the living room. Would recommend this small unit to anyone who wants to fill a small room with great sound. Very easy to program to work with my Directv remote.
Pros: Small size works well with my 22inch LG. Ease of use.
Easy to set up in a few minutes. Just enough inputs for a simple system. I have it connected to Apple AirPort Express (3.5mm) and Apple TV (optical) as well as cable (D COAX) and old school gaming systems (RCA). It is a substantial improvement over the TV sound. As others have noted, the bas is not what you could expect from a dedicated sub, but is good for TV and great for most music (I stream my library from multiple devices). Bass heavy music is less impressive. The the price, it is a good value, and accurately reviewed. The surround simulation is a small improvement, but nothing spectacular .
Pros: Simple, good value, unique form factor, awesome large disappearing display
Cons: No sub output.
The ZVOX base 220 is everything and more than the reviews and description of sales say, Great design, compact and delivers sound so much better than expected and so easy to connect. The settings displayed on the front panel allow for volumn control, balance of base and trebel but also "Dialog Enhancement" "d e" The purchase allows 30 days trial period for return and full refund if not satisified. Believe me, You will NOT return it or give it up under any circumstances. The very best sound enhancement system available anywhere for the money. compared to other systems offered costing double, this one has double the pleasure. I know, I shopped going to stores and listening to demonstrations. If you have a large screen TV you have got to have this sound system. JUST-DO-IT !
I couldn't be happier with my purchase of the ZVOX Z-Base V220. Very easy to set-up, connect to TV, with included cables, including toslink cable. Greatest problem I had was understanding some of the written directions. Other than that, no problems. Bought originally to improve dialogue, and it's just terrific being able to understand, again. Thanks to Crutchfield, for the great price, and outstanding next-day delivery.
Pros: Easy hook-up - Clarity, and greater volume of sound. Compact, easy to place for set-up...
Cons: Written directions are a little difficult to comprehend.
The ZVOX-Box has a great sound and is a perfect additon to the Samsung 32" HDTV. The remote controlled the TV and the ZVOX-Box. The ZVOX sound filled a large 20x 30' kitchen with ease. The sound was perfect! This is my second ZVOX.
Pros: Great addition to the TV, and good sound quality in a small package!
No improvement in sound quality with system
LOVE THE SPEAKER. MY SON SET IT UP FOR ME WITHOUT ANY DIFFCULTY. REALLY SOUNDS GREAT, AND SO COMPACT.
First experience with this product and it pretty much delivers as promised. Treble sounds very good (better when sitting directly in front of it and speakers are at ear level), bass is better than TV speakers, but not incredible. However, I did not expect earth rattling bass. I suppose bass would improve as you go further up the range and the power level increases and since I bought the cheapest one, I am satisfied. Unbelievably easy to connect it to my FioS remote. Have it below a 37" TV with no problems. Used TosLink optical cable that it came with and it works fine. Literally took less than 10 minutes to completely set up unit.
Pros: Good highs, very easy set up, extremely easy to program other remotes.
Cons: Bass output fair, no batteries for remote (but you wont need it once you set up other remotes anyway).
I ordered an open box item that Crutchfield said they went through and checked everything on it and it was all working. Can you believe it, the volume down switch on the front panel went bad during shipping? (or they didn't check it, I think they might not have checked it) They made good on it though and exchanged it. I had a hard time setting up the remote to work with a universal remote that came with Comcast's cable box. I have installed home theater systems for over 15 years and I am a pro, so if I struggled, it's not easy. All that a side the unit sounds great and is perfect for the bedroom. Time will only tell on quality of the product.
Pros: 1. sounds very good 2. works by remote 3. compact (no sperate sub to take floor space)
Cons: 1. would be nice if it had a clock on the front 2. hard to setup remote on basic universal. 3. manual refferences a power button on front that isn't there? (need to use a auto off feature) 4. This price seems like a lot for what you get, I only paid $300 for the small 27" tv that had sound so bad I needed this thing. (I check around and listen to almost every brand out there, 32" and down flat screen tv's as a whole sound really bad)
I really like my speaker, so do my parents. Very compact and sounds awesome. I don't think I could go back to the stock TV speakers. I had some issues with learning my satellite remote, but I called ZVOX and they helped me figure it out. It really working out for us. Very happy with the speaker.
Pros: Sound system I can actually afford. Easy to install. Great sound.
Great little sound system that fit perfectly in the cabinet below the TV. The only complaint would be at high volumes it does sound a little boxy, but that is probably due to where I placed it. If it were directly under the TV this would probably be eliminated. This was exactly what I was looking for as the other Sound Bar that I have downstairs would not fit in our bedroom as it was too long. You can't beat the price, or the fast shipping and it works very well with a 37' flat screen TV in the bedroom. I called Crutchfield to get it to link with my Dish remote and 5 minutes later it was working great!
Pros: Compact size, ease of use, convenience, all in one design, price.
Cons: Boxy sound if not placed correctly.
Easy to install. Sounds great;very satified.
Amazing sound, listened to other sound bars same price no comparison. Worth the money, works well in bedroom
Pros: very nice sound with bottom sub-woofer.
First of all this is not surround sound, if your looking for a cheap way out for surround sound stop reading this and go elsewhere!!!
This is a great way to enhance your Tv's speakers which usually sound limited and this helps out greatly.
Apartment dwellers this is for you!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did get my Directv remote to work with this on AV mode and the instructions state to press and hold during set-up which did not work, had to press and release continuously for the unit to program.
I purchased an optical cable along with this only to find out it comes with one and I'm glad I bought it because the one included was terrible and used the other one and worked perfectly. I cut the included cable in half and put it in the circular file.
Its made of wood, sturdy, and sleek looking.
Playing an MP3 player with this sounds awesome....
I have this in our living room which is 12'Lx12'Wx11'H and fills the room with plenty of sound....
This is like a center channel speaker with a pleasant sound of bass.
There were no AAA batteries included for the remote....
I shouldn't be saying this, but I have a 40" Tv that weighs 78 pounds and hold its without a problem.
Would I recommend this to a friend for great sound enhancement..........Absolutely!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went with ZVOX V220 because of great reviews in many tech publications, and I had limited space in bedroom where I was going to use it. Wow was I amazed at the sound of something so compact! I'm still amazed at the sound, and how richly it fills the room. The sound when their is dialog is 10 times better than TV speakers and even a center channel speaker in a full system. Still fan of full surround system in a large room, but if you have limited space for full system and it's intended for a small to medium size room you cannot go wrong with ZVOX.
Pros: Takes limited space, great sound, versatile, great for using with iPod or other mp3 players, and easy to use, price.
Sound on new Toshiba 24" flat panel was horrible. The Zvox V220 solved the problem completely. Very. very simple to hook up, even programming the V220 to accept the TV's remote was a no brainer. The sound is rich & spacious. Sure, it's not a 5.1 but it's truly amazing how well it works for its small size.
Pros: Easy set up. Modest price. Very good sound. A quality product.
Great product for the price. I use on my tv in the bedroom sounds great!!!! Fits perfect on my shelf.
Pros: price, sound, size
I knew this unit would not give me surround sound, but hoped it would give me better sound than the TV speakers. It does, and I am pleased with that. ZVOX says you can teach the unit to respond to your satellite remote's volume buttons. You can, BUT...! I have Dish network for my TV source, and I was not able to make the "teaching" process work. The volume controls were easily taught to work with the V220, but I was unable to make the power control work, and ZVOX won't allow you to teach only the volume controls without the power control. It's all 4 or nothing. ZVOX support was not helpful in the matter. I'm still trying to find a working method, because having to use a second remote for sound control is a nuisance. Also, the ZVOX remote buttons require a more robust pressure to operate.
I had to swap my first unit for a new one, when the first unit stopped working. But Crutchfield, as always, was just geat about the swap, making it as easy and pleasant as one could hope for.
Pros: Better sound than the TV speakers. Dialog enhancement works well, and is at times a useful feature. The low profile of the V220 fits my living room setup very well; I like it.
Cons: Could use a more detailed user guide, especdially when it comes to programing another remote. And ZVOX really needs to show how a DISH remote cab be programmed for the V220.
Great sound for the price. Purchased when TV went from stand to wall mount when nearby furniture muffled/distorted output from TV speakers especially during dialogue intervals. You can really hear the improvement when switching between TV speakers and this unit. Don't let the small speaker size discourage you from purchasing this model.
Pros: Easy set up. No distortion at near maximum volume settings.
Cons: Can't use Dialogue Emphasis and Output Leveling at the same without switching between the two functions.
This sound bar is absolutely wonderful. The sound is rich and it has improved my enjoyment of TV by leaps and bounds. My ears no longer have to deal with the irritating sound of the tiny speakers in my 32" LED TV, and now I can understand all the words. This was money well-spent. And the ZVOX 220 was very easy to hook up, even for someone who is not knowledgeable about electronics. Believe me--If I can do it, anyone can! I love that my TV remote turns on the TV and sound bar at the same time, and I can use the TV remote to control the main functions of the sound bar.
Pros: Quality, Appearance, Ease of hook-up
very good sound
Great Value, easy setup and awesome sound! I wanted something for my Vizio 32" flat screen. It is located in a great room and the TV speakers were weak for the room size. This was the perfect product.
Pros: Price, quality and ease of setup.
I needed something small enough tofit on ashelf under my 42" flatscreen which is located in a small room. This unit fits perfectly. Set up was a snap. The sound is so much better than thru the tv speakers. I purchased the open box unit and saved 20.00. I'm very pleased.
Pros: Fast shipping. Easy set up.
Cons: None so far.
I really like the ZVOX V220.Easy to set up and good sound. Also,I am very satisfied with Crutchfield and their products, service, and price.I'll buy again.
Wonderful Home Theater system. The ZVOX V220 sounds amazing. Have mine sitting underneath my 32" Vizio 3D TV. Watched The Lion King Blu-Ray last night and it sounded amazing.Love having the surround turned on. No you don't hear anything behind you.But it does sound like you are hearing things from the right and left of you're TV set when you watch a surround sound movie or TV show. I'm so glad I bought one.
Pros: Great sound for the price.
Cons: None that I can see so far.

Overview: The ZVOX SoundBase 220 is a single-cabinet audio system for your flat-panel television. It combines high-quality speakers, a built-in amplifier, a built-in subwoofer, and ZVOX PhaseCue II Virtual Surround Sound processing to give you an easy surround sound solution. Since there are no speaker wires to deal with, you just need to connect the power and audio cables to get started.
TV Compatibility: Most 19"-27" flat-panel TVs (and some 32" TVs) can be placed directly on top the SoundBase 220. The television should weigh 70 pounds or less. The TV's pedestal base should not exceed 16" width or 13" depth. You can also place the unit on a shelf directly below the TV, if desired.
Class D Amplifier: The ZVOX SoundBase 220 is bi-amplified, using a specially designed, highly-efficient 35 watt Class D amplifier that includes electronic contouring for superb frequency response.
Three 2" Drivers: The ZVOX SoundBase 220 uses three 2" main speaker drivers that use a long-throw design to create a remarkable wide range, and accurate sound.
5-1/4" Subwoofer: In addition to the three main speakers, the SoundBase 220 has a built-in down firing high-mass, long-throw 5-1/4" subwoofer in a ported enclosure.
PhaseCue II Virtual Surround Sound: The SoundBase 220 uses ZVOX's proprietary PhaseCue II virtual surround processing to give you rich, three-dimensional sound with movies or music. PhaseCue II, as its name implies, manipulates the phase of the separate channels to "fool the ear" into believing that sound is coming from a variety of sources throughout the room. The benefits of PhaseCue II vary greatly based on program material. Live music and well-recorded modern movie soundtracks will deliver rich, three-dimensional sound - pulling the sound out from the speakers and into the room, literally surrounding the listener.
Note: While the virtual surround experience isn't the same as a high-quality 5.1-channel system, the performance is much better than the speakers built-in to most TV's.
Wood (MDF) Cabinet: The SoundBase 220 features a cabinet made of MDF (medium density fiberboard), the same material used in most high-end loudspeakers. Its low-profile design blends perfectly with most flat-panel TVs.
Disappearing Display: The SoundBase 220 features a four-digit display located behind the speaker grille that shows the current setting for volume, bass/treble, and PhaseCue II (virtual surround). It also shows when you have engaged the Mute, Output Leveling (OL), or Dialog Emphasis (DE) features. A few seconds after you stop using your remote (or front panel) controls, the display disappears completely.
Dialogue Emphasis (DE): Dialogue Emphasis (DE) provides an easy-to-use and effective method for improving the intelligibility of television dialogue. By pressing the Dialogue Emphasis (DE) function button on the remote control, the system engages a circuit that mimics the functions of a hearing aid. The frequencies used by human voices are dynamically emphasized, while other frequencies are minimized.
Output Leveling (OL): The Output Leveling (OL) function prevents large changes in volume levels. Simply press the Output Leveling (OL) button on the remote control and a sophisticated processor takes over, making soft sounds louder and loud sounds softer, so there are fewer jarring moments when switching channels or when commercials come on. This system also helps by boosting the audio levels from a DVD or Blu-ray player that are not loud enough.
Surround Settings: You can adjust the level of PhaseCue II virtual surround processing effect. You can select from Surround One (low effect), Surround Two (moderate effect), Surround Three (strong effect).
Tone Control: The SoundBase 220 has independent bass and treble controls. Each has a range from -4 to 4, and can be adjusted using the remote control only.
Remote Control: The included wireless remote has controls for power, input select, mute, volume, PhaseCue II effect level, bass and treble level. and DE/OL functions.
Programmable: The new SoundBase 220 can be programmed to respond to your current remote control. The illuminated display walks you through a less-than-a-minute programming cycle. Then your TV remote, cable box remote, or satellite receiver remote can control volume up, volume down, mute, and power on the ZVOX system.
Auto Standby: The SoundBase 220 will enter a low-power Standby mode after approximately 5 minutes of no audio signal.
One Cable Connection: The SoundBase 220 requires only one connection cable. You can use either analog or digital connection options to your television.
Audio Inputs: The ZVOX SoundBase 220 offers analog and digital audio inputs:
I wanted to improve the audio of our television, particular for classical music performances, and the model chosen had the right price/quality combination. [ PHILIP ALAN Feb 02, 2016 ]

Thank you all! [ Monte Jan 19, 2014 ]
Thank you all for your answers! I absolutely love it. Works just as described. Much fuller sound than my monitor's built-ins, nice and compact, a breeze to setup as far as remote compatibility and cabling (optical digital), and it has performed flawlessly. For my compact space it is ideal. Thanks again. Very pleased. [ Monte Jan 19, 2014 ]
I LOVE this unit! And YES it is very easily programmable to your cable remote for volume control. It literally took me less than 3 minutes to follow their "quick directions" pamphlet to program. I have TV sitting directly on top of, so cannot answer about direction. [ SUZANNE Dec 08, 2013 ]
Hi, in response to your query on the ZVOX Z-Base V220, I find it to be a great improvement over the "tinny" speakers in the Samsung UN55D6050-ZA 55-inch HDTV. Setup is trying, but the unit works as advertized. You can color the sound by adjusting the Volume, Bass & Treble. Surround sound options create spatial effects. Volume fills my 14' x 14' open-end family room. My purpose for purchasing this unit was because wifey, who captures the TV 90 percent of the time just listening to that "tinny" TV audio, drives me crazy. I read reviews before purchase. Users indicated good functionally. Instructions IMO are disjointed. Included in the box is a phone number to get HELP. At first, using their process, I was trying to set up remote control by using the DirecTV remote. It just wasn't working. Then I decided to set it up with the TV remote. Walla! Now the TV or the DirecTV remotes work. I have control of the Volume/Mute. Incidentally, if you don't have the ability to switch the TV's speakers to OFF or External, then you will hear the TV's speakers in the background, which causes an echo effect. Hardware wise, the unit does not shut OFF. It goes into Standby, then later to SLEEP, upon TV shut OFF. Upon TV turn ON, Wake the unit up, by adjusting the Volume UP/DWN. Main Power switch ON/OFF, on rear panel. I leave mine in the ON position. The unit does not get hot. It is heavy. My TV is supported by the HT console's metal Backstay. The unit is positioned on a lower shelf, on the left side of the HT console, just about 2-feet below ear level. Remember wifey doesn't care as long as she can hear her "Soap" characters. Yes it is a bit directional. I use an Optical cable for audio hookup. Surprisingly, the unit is functioning just as I had envisioned. It's completely independent of my HT system and at the same time, I can run both at the same time, which really creates some unique audio sound effects. Overall, I think the unit will fit your needs. It completely satisfied mine. [ RUBIN Dec 07, 2013 ]
This unit can be paired with your Samsung TV Remote and you will only need your TV remote to control both units, Plus your cable box. It depends how you set it up. This unit, if set up correctly will fill a room with a surround sound effect. [ VINCENT Dec 03, 2013 ]
Can't help you with the volume issue. I have my ZVOX on a kitchen counter with the TV on a swivel mount 1 foot above the counter. You would never know the sound was not coming from the TV unless I told you. This is true for all angles. [ STROUD Dec 03, 2013 ]
Monte, 1. I programmed my TV remote (easy instructions) to adjust the volume of the ZVOX. So, yes, you won't need to use the supplied remote for volume adjustment. 2. I have my ZVOX Z-Base V220 on the shelf below my TV. I think this works fine. You mentioned "a couple of feet below" your monitor. That should work OK, but you might want to prop the front feet up a bit for better sound. I does provide a fairly "large" sound for such a small box. Watching three seats from the front of the unit gives OK sound, if you are also wondering about lateral dispersion. I hope this helps. [ DANA M Dec 03, 2013 ]
Thank you all so much. Thinking I'll take the leap. Cheers! [ Monte Dec 02, 2013 ]
1) Unknown 2) Unit functions best as TV support/ speaker. Try it as you state and if unsatisfactory bring higher. Don't obscure speakers. [ ALAN Dec 02, 2013 ]
Hello, 1. I doubt that i can be of much help, but: I use my unit with the V220's remote because it allows me more flexibility. I need to use my TV remote to change change over to my DVD, which requires a change on my V220. That works for me. Sorry. 2. My TV sits on the V220 and both are pretty much at ear level. I wonder if the difference in height would affect the surround-sound effect. I am enjoying a very effective performance as I have it set up. It wouldn't hurt to try it your way, that is if you haven't already done so. Good Luck on your quest! A. Mestas [ AUGUSTINE J Dec 02, 2013 ]
Monte...I bought this unit for my sister in law who has lost some of her hearing. We set the unit up so that she uses the zvox remote for the volume and than uses the cable company remote to change channels. She indicates that the sound is good enough that she can go into the dinning room or the kitchen and still hear the sound ok as long as she has the volume turned up. Don"t know if this helps you or not. My sister in law really likes the improved sound from the zvox. [ RICHARD C Dec 02, 2013 ]
1. You can use your TV or cable remote to adjust the volume. Setting up the connection is usuallly easy, but in my case it was not because I have a Panasonic TV and Verizon FIOS cable. But I have to say that the ZVOX service line was top-notch and they walked me through the whole thing. I didn't have to wait at all for them to pick up. 2. I haven't noticed a problem with directionality even though the ZVOX is a foot or two below our ears and the monitor. I haven't played around with the surround sound buttons, so that might help if you notice a problem. One tip: I needed to adjust the treble up and the base down one notch and that improved the dialogue audio tremendously. We were losing some words in the lower register when the amplitude of the voice was also low. [ STEVEN Dec 02, 2013 ]
If connected to a dvd player or CD player you will hear the sound. The ZVOX is a speaker. I purchased to enhance the sound from a small flat screen. Sounds very good. [ G. Nov 29, 2013 ]
This unit is not a player if I understood your question right. Hooking it to a tv for a better sound, you will have a different experience. Thanks! [ ROMEO L Nov 29, 2013 ]
Yes it will work with a DVD player. The sound is really good as well. [ RICK Nov 29, 2013 ]
No, the ZVOX box is just a speaker assembly meant to replace the tiny speakers in your TV. [ RICHARD Nov 28, 2013 ]
no dvd can be inserted. this is just like a sound bar...so if you can see it on a tv, then the sound can come out of the Zvocx..it is really great. [ KEITH F Nov 28, 2013 ]
Well anything really...technically it is an amp and speaker all in one..so if you have the right line in [ THOMAS R Nov 28, 2013 ]
The answer is yes. My television doesn't have an output, so I use an optical digital cable from my bluray to the Zvox. If your player has no optical output you can use the coaxial digital one. The HDMI cable goes directly from the bluray player to the tv. Try this only if a conventional set up don't work for your DVDs. As an additional bonus I also have an inexpensive bluetooth device that plugs into the analog inputs on the zvox making it so I can play music from my iPod and iPhone. I love the v220 and recommend it highly. [ Daniel Nov 28, 2013 ]
It is not a player. It hooks into my TV along with a Blu Ray player. The box works as an external speaker to the TV. I shut off the TV speakers and get great sound off the DVDs and TV. Hope this helps. Bruce [ BRUCE Nov 28, 2013 ]
Not sure I quite understand the question. I run HDMI cables from my HD Cable box and BluRay player to the TV, and run a digital optical audio cable from the TV to the ZVOX. This setup is connected to a 50" plasma that I have on the wall in the bedroom. No room for a soundbar or separates in my bedroom. ZVOX has excellent sound, but you must sit directly in front of it for the "surround effects" to be evident. I like that it has tone controls, dialog enhancement, and output leveling. No, it does not sound like my Def Tech home theater in the family room but it does sound much better than the TV speakers. Hope this answers the question. Break - Crutchfield, if you have any suggestions for a better setup (BluRay directly to the ZVOX via DO or Coax, TV to whichever one I don't use for the BluRay) I would appreciate it.
