About the Peachtree Audio musicBox

Jim Richardson

Experience high-end sound with your computer or iPod

The musicBox combines a built-in Pure Digital iPod® dock, a high-quality digital-to-analog converter, a vacuum tube preamp, and a high-current MOSFET power amp. The iPod dock built into the musicBox bypasses your iPod's built-in DAC and analog output, which are OK for earbuds, but not so good for serious listening. Instead, the signal goes directly to the 24-bit/96kHz Crystal Semiconductor DAC, which delivers far superior sound quality. Peachtree also provides a top-notch onboard headphone amp that's fed from the tube preamplifier for high-quality private listening.

Experience high-end sound with your computer or iPod

Have you discovered how great music can sound when you sit an arm's length away from a good pair of speakers? This is what recording engineers do. They call it "near-field" listening. Because they hear more "direct" sound and less of what's bouncing off the walls, they hear deeper into the soundstage and notice more of the subtle details that make recorded music come alive.

Now you can have a great near-field listening experience every time you sit down in front of your computer. All it takes is a Peachtree Audio musicBox and a decent pair of bookshelf speakers.

Of course, there's no law that says you have to use the music box at your desk. It makes the perfect centerpiece for a compact audio system in your den, bedroom, or kitchen. In addition to the iPod dock and the USB input for your computer, you get two more digital audio inputs (one coaxial and one optical) and one analog input. The musicBox even features a component video output, so you can easily use your docked iPod to watch movies, TV shows and video podcasts on your HDTV. Preamp/subwoofer outputs let you connect a powered subwoofer or outboard power amplifier for even bigger sound.
