About the Energy ESW-C8
Round out your home theater system with this overachieving compact subwoofer from Energy. The ESW-C8 delivers deep, clean bass thanks to its 8" woofer and 60-watt amp. The woofer cone's proprietary Ribbed Elliptical Surround increases efficiency and fights distortion. You'll enjoy punchy bass that draws you into the on-screen action.
Controls on the back of the cabinet make it a cinch to add as little or as much bass as you like, and to seamlessly blend the sub in with the rest of your system. The black ash finish gives this sub a refined look that complements most flat-panel displays.

Features
Overview: The ENERGY ESW-C8 Powered Subwoofer features an 8" woofer powered by a 60-watt (RMS) amplifier. The powered subwoofer has a frequency response of 36 to 180Hz (+/-3 dB).
8" Woofer: The powered subwoofer contains a front-firing injection molded 8" cone woofer with a ribbed elliptical surround for tight and powerful bass response. The patented Ribbed Elliptical Surround that encircles the woofer changes the shape of the speaker surround to an ellipse, rather than the traditional "half roll," resulting in dramatically less distortion. Other benefits include increased excursion and larger piston area, allowing for greater efficiency.
Bass Reflex Enclosure: The 8" woofer is mounted in a bass-reflex enclosure with a down-firing port. The enclosure features a black wood-veneer finish and a removable black cloth grille.
Amplifier: The 8" woofer is powered by a built-in 60 watt (continuous) 240 watt (dynamic) amplifier for accurate reproduction of movie and music soundtracks.
Status Indicator (Front-Panel): The LED found on the front panel will illuminate in blue when the subwoofer is functioning. If the unit is Auto mode and is not receiving a signal, the light will remain off
Placement: The placement of the ENERGY subwoofer is critical to its performance. The three most common locations include:
- Corner Of Room: Results in a boomy or exaggerated low frequency response.
- Side Wall: Moderate bass performance with increased fidelity over corner placement.
- Beside Front Speaker: Creates a better blend with the front speaker, but sacrificing overall volume.
Controls
Volume Level: This knob can be adjusted to control the level of output from the subwoofer. The level chosen should allow the subwoofer to blend its output with the rest of your audio system.
Low-Pass Filter: This control allows for the adjustment of the low-pass filter. Adjustments can infinitely be made from 40 to 150Hz. This will determine the highest frequency that the subwoofer will reproduce.
Phase: This switch allows for the adjustment of the phase of the subwoofer, in relation to the other speakers in the system from 0 or 180 degrees
Power Mode: This switch can be set to either On, Off, Auto. If the switch is in the Off position, the subwoofer will not power up. If the switch is in the On position, it will constantly remain on. If the switch is set to the Auto position, when a signal is present the subwoofer will turn on and will automatically turn off several minutes after a signal is no longer present.
Connections
Line/Sub In: These inputs are an RCA-type LFE/stereo/mono input. If you are connecting the powered subwoofer to a pre-amp/processor with a LFE or subwoofer pre-amp output, connect a single RCA cable to the LFE/Left RCA input. If you are connecting the subwoofer to a stereo pre-amp or processor, such as in a stereo music system, use stereo RCA cables and connect to both the LFE/Left and Right inputs.
Speaker Level In: The Speaker Level inputs (spring-clips) are designed to be used on receivers or amplifiers that do not incorporate any RCA type subwoofer outputs. If your receiver is equipped with an RCA type subwoofer outputs, these speaker level inputs should not be utilized.
