Deep bass and crystal-clear highs form the signature sound of the Energy RC-6C to make it an outstanding addition to your home system. Energy designed the RC-6C for wide dispersion. This makes it a perfect choice as a stealth surround speaker or to bring full musical presence alive through your home. You'll hear the instrumental nuance of your favorite artists as well as every whisper of dialogue, and each roll of thunder from the sound track. The pivoting tweeter even lets you aim the highs right to your favorite spot. And with the flip of a switch, you can adjust the tweeter to suit your tastes. You can paint the included grille to match your space perfectly so you won't even know it's there until the system's turned on.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I installed these speakers in February 2012 and they have performed fantastically. I was skeptical because of the price and Energy Speakers are not a big brand name. After some research, I found that Energy Speakers are made by Klipsch. I was choosing between the Energy RC-6 and a much higher priced speaker from Crutchfield. After speaking with a specialist, I was impressed with the knowledge and understanding of its capabilities and ultimately went with his recommendation, the Energy RC-6. The range on the speakers is impressive. The weakest range is bass, but with a solid sub, you should be able to overcome this deficiency. Installation was simple and easy. One watch out is the tweeter positioning. It only pivots perpendicular to the axis, unlike some other models that allow for a 360 degree orientation. This can be overcome by positioning the overall speaker in the direction you want the tweeter to be directed. I have recommended these speakers to some friends and family because of the great sound and great price. Thanks Crutchfield.

Pros: Great range, flat mids, clear highs, and solid bass. Easy installation.

Cons: Limited orientation of the tweeter.

Great Speakers at a Terrific Price

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was prepared and expecting to spend much more for high-quality in-ceiling speakers. After chatting with a Crutchfield advisor I learned that these speakers were a good fit for the application and were recommended as a good value. Because of the low price I was a bit skeptical though until they arrived. The quality of construction was immediately evident. Installation is remarkably easy. And they sound fantastic -- very clear highs, decent bass and a flat mid-range. I think that these are a remarkable deal and recommend them highly.

    Driver Technology
    Mounting Options

    Driver Technology

2-Way Speaker Design: The RC-6C is equipped with the following drivers:

    • Tweeter: 1" aluminum dome tweeter, mounted on a swiveling bridge that can be angled toward the listening area (+/- approximately 25°)
    • Woofer: 6-1/2" Kevlar cone woofer; uses a ribbed elliptical surround

Surround: The woofer uses a patented Ribbed Elliptical Surround; by changing the shape of the speaker surround to an ellipse, rather than the traditional half roll, distortion is reduced and the maximum excursion is increased.

High Frequency EQ: A switch on the RC-6C's frame (behind the grille) allows you to contour the high frequency output. The Cut position reduces the output by 2 dB from 2 kHz to 20 kHz, useful when the speaker is mounted in a very reflective room.

Break-In Period: ENERGY recommends that you play the RC-6C for a 100 hour break-in period before playing at high volume and making final sound adjustments. This is easily done by putting your compact disc player on repeat mode while playing a CD with a wide dynamic range ant normal listening levels.

Speaker Terminals: The speaker has a pair of spring posts that can accept, pin connectors, single or dual banana plugs, or bare wire up to 12-gauge wire.

    Mounting Options

Installation: The speaker can be installed in new or existing construction; it requires a cutout diameter of 8 inches and is held in place with four integral plastic mounting ears. The required depth to install the speaker is 5" from the mounting surface (this includes the thickness of the drywall). Behind the opening there must be a 7/8" clearance around the speaker to accommodate the ears. Speakers should be installed in drywall at least 3/8" thick. A cardboard template is included to assist you in making the cutout.

Paintable: Both the plastic frame and aluminum grille can be painted to match the ceiling; a cardboard paint mask is included.
