Spacious, wide-open sound for your desktop

Definitive Technology Image powered speaker

With their striking angled design and impressive performance, Definitive Technology's Incline powered speakers add a clean, contemporary look and rich, exciting sound to your desktop environment. They're perfect for creating an immersive "near-field" listening experience just a few feet away from where you sit at your computer.

The Incline's unique backward tilt not only complements the appearance of your desktop monitor or laptop computer, it also aims the speakers directly toward your ears for greater clarity and fuller frequency response. And to give your music and movie soundtracks an even greater sense of depth, the Incline uses Definitive's bipolar technology, with front- and rear-firing speaker components that add spaciousness to the sound.

Versatile connections for your system

The Inclines can be connected to any open USB port on your computer, bypassing its built-in sound card. That kind of direct digital connection means there's less potential for noise and interference to degrade the sound quality. A built-in DAC (digital-to-analog converter) gives you far greater sonic fidelity than the DACs found on most computer sound cards. The speakers also include a minijack input for connecting a portable music player, as well as an optical digital input. And if you crave even higher output levels with more bass, a rear panel output jack is available for adding an optional powered subwoofer.

Classic Definitive build and good looks

Unlike many other desktop computer speakers, which rely on a single full-range driver to reproduce all the frequencies, each Incline features a smooth-sounding 3/4" silk dome tweeter, a 4" woofer, and a 2" rear-firing full-range driver. A pressure-coupled 4" passive bass radiator helps deliver greater low-frequency impact. The system has four separate amplifiers built in, plus sophisticated digital signal processing that keeps the sound powerful and detailed at any volume level.

Along with great sound, Definitive gave the Incline classic good looks. Details include a support base made from a solid slab of machined aluminum to provide stability and style. The enclosure is fabricated with Definitive's exclusive Polystone mineral-filled polymer for solid, resonance-free performance, then wrapped in acoustically transparent grille cloth. Sonically and visually, Definitive's Incline speakers stand tall.

Features

Self-Powered Desktop Speakers: The Definitive Technology Incline self-powered loudspeakers will transform the space around your desktop computer into a rich listening environment. The Incline self-powered speakers have been optimized for use on desktops, shelves, and credenzas using a unique form factor that enhances sound quality while complementing the appearance of today's desktop monitors and laptop computers. Its built-in amplifiers, digital signal processing, and bipolar speaker configuration will take your desktop audio to a new performance level.

Bipolar Speaker Design: The Incline self-powered loudspeaker's bipolar configuration radiates sound in an omni-directional pattern. Front facing drivers include a 0.75" silk dome tweeter and one 4" polymer cone mid/woofer that is pressure-coupled to a 4" planar bass radiator. A rear facing 2" full-range driver creates a spacious soundscape far beyond the confines of your desktop. Your listening experience is more life-like, more involving for music and movies.

Bi-Amplified Configuration + DSP: Four 20-watt class HD amplifiers (each speaker is bi-amplified) power the system for effortless high volume, low distortion clarity. The Incline powered speakers employ a 56-bit DSP (digital signal processor) to enhance the input audio signal for better sound quality reproduction.

9.5-Degree Angle: Desktop speakers often sound dull, lifeless and flat. The Incline's 9.5-degree angle literally points the speaker toward your ears, aiding directivity and making it possible for you to hear the full bandwidth. Vocals are more intelligible and music and movie soundtracks sound utterly lifelike.

Polystone Cabinet & Aluminum Base: The Incline powered speakers include a support-base made from a solid slab of machined aluminum to provide stability. The enclosure is fabricated with Definitive's trademark Polystone mineral-filled polymer, and wrapped in acoustically transparent grille cloth.

USB (type-B) Port w/ DAC: The Definitive Technology Incline self-powered loudspeaker is fitted with a USB (type-B) port to connect your Mac computer or Windows PC. The Incline's USB port bypasses the inferior internal DAC in your computer and uses its own high-quality TI PCM 2704 DAC  DAC (24-bit/48kHz) to provide exceptional sound reproduction that is detailed, natural, and warm. The USB port is located on the back panel of the Right speaker. Playback of up to 24-bit/48kHz, 2ch music files is supported.

Analog + Digital Inputs: The Incline powered speaker is equipped with an analog (3.5mm) and digital (optical) input. The 3.5mm analog input allows you to connect any portable audio device with a headphone or audio output. The optical (toslink) digital input lets you connect your TV, Blu-ray player or Sat/Cable box. The optical digital input supports PCM audio signals only (not Dolby Digital/DTS). The analog & digital inputs are hidden behind a cover plate on the rear panel of the Right speaker. Playback of up to 24-bit/48kHz music files is supported through the digital input. Any music file can be played back via analog input.

Tether Cable: A 6' tether cable is supplied which connects left & right power speaker together. The cable transfers audio and power from the Right speaker to the left speaker.

Sub Output: For higher output and more bass, you can add an optional external powered subwoofer to the Incline via its rear-panel Sub Out RCA jack. The sub output is located on the back panel of the Right speaker (there is a cover plate that will need to be removed).

Power/Volume Controls: The Right speaker features Volume Up/Down and Power On/Off controls on its side-panel.

External AC Power Supply: The Definitive Technology Incline self-powered loudspeakers operate off of standard household current using the supplied external AC power supply and AC power cord. The AC power supply plugs into the back of the Right speaker.

  • Input: 100-240V~50/60Hz, 1.0A
  • Output: 20.0V - 2.0A

Customer Q&A

2 questions already asked

Q
is there a longer cable available to separate the speakers further apart?
john kuhn  Dec 28, 2014
5 answers
A
I'm not sure, but it seems you could make one or Definitive Technology might have one. The cable ends have a small 2 by 2 square connection. I have not seem such.
david r  Jan 01, 2015
A
No, there was only one cable for the speakers out of the box...maybe Def Tech customer service can give you an answer. The cable that comes with the speakers looks proprietary.
robert  Dec 29, 2014
A
Yes,they have the long enough cable for a big desk.
mikhail  Dec 29, 2014
A
Not yet, although Definitive Tech may come out with that as an option. I love the speakers but would like to have a longer cable as well. Still, the sound quality is the best I've heard from a desktop speaker .
william  Dec 29, 2014
A
I am unaware of a longer cable, but it would be worth asking Definitive Technology about this. The cable that connects the two speakers seems to be proprietary, so it is unlikely that one is available from an independent source.
charles r.  Dec 29, 2014
Q
signal to noise ratio?
michael thomas  Oct 30, 2014
2 answers
A
Very clear signal, no noticeable noise, but I don't know the numbers. I use them only as desktop speakers...the sound is beautiful.
robert  Oct 31, 2014
A
I have no equipment to measure S/N ratio so no help on that. As far as the sound is concerned, I am quite pleased. I like light classical, but mostly the big bands of the 40's and 50's so I can't help much on sound purity, etc. but I do sincerely believe that you will be pleased with your choice of Definitve Incline.
