Overview: The Kodak Zx1 is a pocket-sized digital video camera that is
capable of recording high definition and standard definition video and digital
still images. It has a 2" LCD screen for recording and playing back your
videos and still images.
File Format: The Zx1 records video in H.264 (MOV) format with AAC-LC mono
audio. You can choose between the following formats:

Internal Memory: The camera features a built-in 128 MB internal
memory. Approximately 10 MB is available for image storage.
SD/SDHC: Optional SD or SDHC (high capacity) memory cards can be used
to store videos and still images. The Zx1 can accept SD/SDHC cards up to 32 GB.
Lens: The Zx1 has a fixed focus 4.1mm, f/2.8 lens. The focusing range is 27.6" to infinity. The camera also has a 2x
digital zoom.
Keypad Control: You can control the Zx1 using the built-in
keypad. In record mode, you can start/stop recording, zoom in/out, and select a
recording mode. In playback mode, you can play/pause the current video,
raise/lower the volume, select previous/next video, delete videos, or fast-forward or fast
rewind through the current video.
Playback Modes: During video playback, you can fast forward and fast
rewind in 4 different speeds: 2x, 4x, 8x and 16x. You can also play in slow
motion in either direction in 4 different speeds: 1/2x, 1/4x, 1/8x, and 1/16x.
HDMI and A/V Outputs: The Zx1 allows you to view your videos
on your HDTV via the supplied HDMI cable (mini-HDMI to full-size HDMI). You can
also connect the camera to an non-HDTV using the supplied A/V cable with mono
audio and composite video.
IP43 Rated: The camera is resistant to the elements. It has rubberized doors to protect all ports, while the stainless steel
panel gives it strength. It is rated IP43, which means it gives protection
against entry of objects larger than 1mm (i.e. particles of dirt), and
protection against water spray from an angle of up to 60°
from vertical (such as falling rain or snow).
Optional Remote Control: The Zx1 has an infrared eye near the lens for
use with an optional remote control (available from the manufacturer).
Power Requirements: The Zx1 operates on two "AA" batteries.
Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) rechargeable batteries are recommended. Two
pre-charged Ni-MH
batteries are supplied with the camera, along the K630 Kodak Mini-Charger. The
charger fits both "AA" and "AAA"-sized rechargeables. The supplied batteries
charge in approximately 12 hours in the K630 charger. The camera also works with
the KLIC-8000 Lithium-Ion rechargeable digital camera battery, as well as
alkaline "AA" batteries.
Built-in Software: The camera comes with ArcSoft MediaImpression
software built into the camera. The built-in software is compatible with
Windows-based PCs only. When you first connect your camera to your PC, you can
install the software by following the prompts. This software, once installed,
allows you to:
- edit, trim, splice, and enhance videos
- add pictures and music to your videos
- grab still images from video frames
- e-mail your creations or upload to YouTube right from the software
Mac Users: Video and pictures from the Zx1 can be used with the Apple
iLife suite of products to edit, personalize, make DVDs, share via YouTube and
Apple Online Sharing Services (iWeb and MobileMe), or with iTunes for synching
with the iPhone, iPod, or Apple TV.
