NAD IPD 2 Reviews
Average Customer Review:
Perfect match for my NAD system.
Great product. I purchased this item along with an NAD/PSB system and couldn't be happier.
I use it with my iPod 6th generation (which isn't listed as compatible with this dock) and was pleased to find that the small remote that comes with this dock controls all basic functions incl play/pause/next & previous song/repeat/shuffle, although it won't search or select tracks with my iPod. Also, the SR8 remote that came with my NAD integrated amp also gives me control of my iPod. Sweet.
The unit looks nice with my iPod sitting in it, and is nicely weighted so that it stays put while using the iPod touch screen, and doesn't want to slide off my cabinet from the weight of the connector cables.
Sound reproduction is near CD quality, only suffering with heavy orchestral passages or some vocal harmony (typical of the compressed files used in media players). Otherwise sound is clear and smooth. Your basic jazz quintet is a piece of cake for this unit. I closed my eyes and it sounded like Horace Silver was actually playing in my living room. What more could you want.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Great sound quality improvement using the ipod bottom connection, RCA cables through the MP input as opposed to head phone jack thru aux input. Simple installation.
Cons: Requires use of 2 remotes.
Did just what I wanted!
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I bought this to use my ipad touch (4th gen) via remote control into my stereo and to charge it as well. 5mins to set up. No problems!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I bought the NAD IPD 2 from Crutchfield and was disappointed. Not with Crutchfield, but with the product. The plastic inserts for docking were not sufficiently labeled. Didn't know which insert went with what type of ipod. There were no instructions in the box, and the remote control didn't work even with a new battery. The ipod classic doesn't dock securely and sometimes you will lose either your right or left channel. I'm using it with a NAD 326 integrated amp, which is great, but they cheaped out on the ipod dock.
Doesn't seem to work with Iphone
Spent the morning attempting to put a new iphone G4/3 system on a NAD IPD2 attached
with all the appropriate wiring to all the appropriate ports on a NAD T765 Receiver.
Somehow I expected to see video or at least pictures to my Panasonic G series flat panel
TV. Sometimes the supplied iphone remote worked for changing songs; sometimes the
receiver's remote worked. Nothing worked reliably. Nothing ever came to the TV accept the
OSD (on screen display) for set up menus. The play list would show on the iphone but only
occasionally did I get it to switch songs without handling the phone itself. Too many issues; I
gave up by the afternoon and re-packaged the device. Not worth it for me; I'm not tech savy
enough for this one.
What's in the box?
- iPod/iPhone dock
- AC power adapter with attached 6' DC cord
- 4 AC plugs (North American/UK/European/Australian)
- DR-1 IR wireless remote control (with installed CR2025 3V lithium-cell battery)
- 4 iPod dock insert adapters
- 44" AV/Control cable (with a S-video/stereo RCA/minijack connectors on both ends)

Note: The IPD 2 only provides iPod/iPhone text display for NAD units which feature a proprietary 3.5mm data-port. Apple software updates may change functionality results (you may need to reset your iPod or iPhone).
Analog Audio/Video Output: The NAD IPD 2 is equipped with analog audio (stereo RCA) and a S-video connection to connect to your home A/V receiver and television for playback of music and video files from your compatible iPod or iPhone.
Charging: The NAD IPD 2 will automatically charge your compatible iPod or iPhone when docked.
Remote Control: The NAD IPD 2 iPod/iPhone dock comes with an IR remote control so you can operate your docked iPod or iPhone wirelessly. The included remote will control menu and playback functions of your iPod/iPhone.
Note: Volume is controlled by your A/V receiver when using the IPD 2 Dock. You can still operate your iPod or iPhone's controls from the click-wheel or touch-screen while it is docked.
Data Port (for iPod/iPhone OSD): The NAD IPD 2 is equipped with a proprietary 3.5mm data-port which allows control and display of your compatible iPod's media from select NAD components which also feature the same proprietary 3.5mm data-port. Using this port, you will be able control playback functions of your iPod/iPhone from your compatible NAD component's remote control and be able to view iPod/iPhone text on the component's front-panel 2-line display. You will also be able to view an on-screen display on your television (through S-video) and browse your iPod/iPhone's media content via this OSD. Selected track and playing time are displayed, and your music library can be browsed without interrupting play. Navigation is fast and responsive in keeping with Apple's renowned music library software.
Note: At this time the NAD models including this data-port are the AV receiver models - T785, T775, T765, T755, and T175. If you connect the NAD IPD 2 to a component that does not feature this data-port, you will only be able to view iPod/iPhone text from your iPod/iPhone's display and you will have to use the IPD 2's included remote or your iPod/iPhone's click-wheel or touch-screen to control playback.
Power Supply: The NAD IPD 2 iPod/iPhone dock operates off of standard household AC current and comes with 4 types of AC plugs (North American, UK, European, and Australian).
