Cisco

Our take on the Linksys® by Cisco Premier Kit (KWHA700)

Play music from your computer and the Internet in two rooms of your home. The Premier Kit from Linksys by Cisco gives you everything you need to get started. It features:

  • a wireless touchscreen Controller, which lets you manage the entire system
  • an amplified player, called the Director, that connects to a pair of speakers
  • an unamplified Player, which hooks up to a stereo or home theater system

Your favorite music, available instantly
Both players connect to your wired or wireless home network and play songs from your computer. They can also access a wealth of online sources, including free Internet radio stations and Rhapsody® digital music service (subscription required). Add the optional iPod docking station to the Director, and you'll be able to listen to an iPod in one or both rooms. A stereo analog audio input on each player lets you connect another component, like a CD changer or satellite radio tuner.

Simple setup and easy, intuitive controls
Cisco makes it easy to install the players and control playback. The included setup disc walks you through each step of connecting these players to your home network and accessing music stored on your computer. Their built-in Wi-Fi® adapters mean you can place them just about anywhere in your house. Controlling playback is simple, too. Use the included wireless touchscreen Controller to manage playback of any source, even a connected iPod, from any room. Pump a playlist of party tunes throughout the house when you have friends over, or play jazz in the kitchen and rock in the living room to suit your family's musical interests. Expand the system to more rooms of your home by adding more Linksys by Cisco players.

Touchscreen Controller Features

Overview: The DMRW1000 Touchscreen Controller is a wireless touchscreen remote control that allows you to access and control one or more digital media players in your LinkSys by Cisco Wireless Home Audio system. It is designed to be used with the Media Extender (DMP100), Director (DMC250), or Conductor (DMC350). It operates on the Wi-Fi standard 802.11n/b/g with dual bands of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.

4.3" LCD Touchscreen: The DMRW1000 has a large, 4.3" LCD touchscreen with a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels, white LED backlighting, and 16.7-million colors.

Display Data: You can use the Touchscreen Controller to select the listening sources, create and control listening zones, and select playlists, artists, genres, and tracks from your media players and storage devices. You can even view and select all of the song data, including album art, from your iPod when it is connected to the optional docking station (connected to the Director or Conductor player).

Battery: The Touchscreen Controller is powered by the supplied 3000 mAh Lithium-Polymer rechargeable battery. The supplied AC adapter plugs into the controller for charging the battery. The battery can also be recharged via USB, plugged into your computer or into the rear panel of the Director or Conductor media player. There are also charging contacts on the side panel of the controller for use with a future charging cradle.

Sleep/Hibernate Modes: To save battery power, the controller has a sleep mode and a hibernate mode, both with adjustable idle periods. You can set the sleep mode to turn off the display after an idle time of 30 seconds, 60 seconds, or 2 minutes. To save more battery power, the unit can be set to hibernate after an idle time of 10 minutes, 20 minutes, or 45 minutes. To "wake up" the remote, you just have to pick the remote up, or press a button.

Controls: In addition to its touchscreen controls, the DMRW1000 has a 5-way navigation button (up, down, left, right, enter), along with a home and volume button.
