Features
Overview: The LinkSys by Cisco WRT610N Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router allows you to access the Internet via a wireless connection or through one of its four switched Ethernet ports. It has
a built-in storage link for adding storage space onto your network using USB 2.0 hard drives, or plug-in USB flash drives to access your portable data files. You can stream music, video, or photos
from the attached storage device to any UPnP-compatible media adapter.
Wireless Home Audio Application: The WRT610N can serve as an integral part of a Wireless Home Audio/Video system. You can access music, photographs, games, or videos from the Internet, your
PC, or an external hard drive or media server, and wirelessly broadcast it throughout your home to other LinkSys devices:
- Media Hub: a storage device with massive capacity for storing digital video, photos, and music, and multi-stream capability. A 500 GB version (item # 750500HUB) and a 1 TB version
(7501TBHUB) are available.
- Home Audio Player: a Wireless-N audio player transforms wireless signal into an analog stereo audio signal for your home stereo or powered speaker system. (750PLAYER)
- Home Audio Director: a Wireless-N audio player with an integrated amplifier (requires speakers) (750DRCTOR)
- Home Audio Conductor: a Wireless-N audio player with built-in amp, speakers, and CD player (750CNDCTOR)
Double Bandwidth: The WRT610N offers two bands of Wireless-N (5 GHz and 2.4 GHz) working separately, yet simultaneously, so you can customize your network's configuration. For example, you
can use the 2.4 GHz band to surf the web, e-mail, or print, while you stream audio or high-definition video on the 5 GHz band. The built-in Media Optimized Networking technology gives priority to
time-sensitive traffic so your music or video experiences fewer dropouts.
Extended Coverage: Wireless-N's Multiple In, Multiple Out (MIMO) technology uses multiple radios per band to
create more robust signals for maximum range and speed with reduced dead spots. Its ultra-wide bandwidth greatly reduces interference from nearby wireless devices.
Antennas: The unit has
3 internal antennas each for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
4-Port Gigabit Switch: The WRT610N has a 4-port Gigabit switch that is capable of delivering 10/100/1000 Gigabit wired connection speeds that are 10 times faster than a 10/100 connection.
Wireless Standards: You can automatically or manually set the unit for these basic wireless network settings:
| |

The router also supports 802.3, 802.3u, and 802.3ab |
Wireless Security: Advanced wireless security and SPI firewall protection helps protect your home network and computers from most Internet attacks. The router supports WiFi Protected Access
(WPA/WPA2), as well as Wired Equivalency Privacy (WEP) encryption to protect data transmitted over the wireless network. You can select from the following WEP encryption levels: 64-bit 10 hex digits
or 128-bit 26 hex digits.
Minimum Requirements: The minimum requirements for the WRT610N are:
- Internet Explorer 6.0, Safari 3.1, or Firefox 1.0 or higher for browser-based configuration
- CD-ROM drive
- Wired or Wireless Network Adapter with TCP/IP protocol
- LELA software and Setup Wizard require up-to-date Windows XP, Vista, or Vista 64-bit Edition
- Setup Wizard also runs under Mac OS X 10.4 or higher
Front Panel Indicators: The front panel of the router features several LED-backlit icons to indicate the status of the router:
- Ethernet Ports 1, 2, 3, 4: The numbered LEDs correspond with the numbered ports on the back panel. If continuously lit, the router is successfully connected to a device through that
port. A flashing LED indicates network activity over that port (green=10/100 port, blue=gigabit port).
- WiFi Protected Setup (WPS): The LED flashes blue for two minutes during the WPS process, then lights blue when process is successful. The LED lights amber if there is an error during
setup.
- Wireless: The Wireless LED lights up when the wireless feature is enabled. If flashing, the LED indicates activity over the network.
- Internet: The Internet LED lights up when there is a connection made through the Internet port, and flashes when there is activity. When lit green, the router is connected to a 10/100
port; when blue, it is connected to a gigabit port.
- USB: The USB LED lights up when a USB device is attached, and flashes when there is data being sent or received through this device.
- Power: The Power LED lights up and stays on when the router is powered on. A flashing LED indicates the router is going through its self-diagnostic mode during boot-up.
Connections: All connections are conveniently located on the rear panel:
- USB: Female Type-A USB port for use with an external hard drive
- Internet: RJ-45 jack for connecting your cable or DSL Internet connection
- Ethernet: Four RJ-45 jacks for connecting the router to PCs on your wired network and other Ethernet network devices
- 12VDC Power: power jack for use with supplied AC adapter
Placement: You can place the router on a level surface such as a table or shelf, using the four built-in rubber feet. The router can also be wall-mounted using two screws (not-supplied)
spaced 6.91" apart. A wall-mounting template is included in the User Guide.
