High-performance outdoor sound
One down-firing 8" woofer provides rich low-frequency notes — a difficult feat in outdoor listening areas. The OutCast's four 3" drivers are positioned in an omni-directional array for superior clarity regardless of your seating position. And a built-in 100-watt digital amplifier was designed to perfectly power this complement of drivers.

Requires a SoundCast component, such as a AudioCast transmitter, BlueCast Bluetooth adapter, or iCast transmitter for operation.

Features

Wireless Outdoor Speaker: The SoundCast OutCast is a weather resistant, wireless, powered outdoor speaker that lets you enjoy rich multi-directional stereo sound anywhere. The OutCast has a broadcast range of up to 350' outdoors (150' indoors). your Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, laptop/computer, audio system, or your TV by choosing either the SoundCast UAT, BlueCast, or the iCast transmitter (all sold separately). This system includes a rechargeable battery, AC power cord for direct power connection and charging, and a 3.5mm line input for direct play. The included rechargeable battery allows for up to 10 hours of uninterrupted play.

Note: The SoundCast OutCast requires a SoundCast Transmitter; either the UAT or iCast Transmitter (both sold separately).

Weather Resistant: The SoundCast OutCast is made of UV stabilized, high-impact ABS plastic with water-tight seals, so it can withstand the harshest of elements.

Note: The OutCast is not water-proof and cannot be submerged in water. It also does not float.

Omni-Directional Speaker Array: The OutCast features one 8.0" downward-firing woofer and four 3" high-frequency drivers in an omni-directional array for a broad soundstage with deep bass and clear highs.

Digital Amplifier: The OutCast is equipped with a built-in 100 watt multi-channel digital amplifier for greater efficiency and bigger sound.

FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) Technology: The SoundCast OutCast is an interference free, wireless 2.4 GHz outdoor speaker. The OutCast uses frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology in which a SoundCast transmitter (sold separately) constantly and automatically searches for open channels in the 2.4GHz band and jumps to them to avoid interference with other products (such as cordless telephones, radio controlled toys, cell phones, microwave ovens, remotes, and wireless routers), while telling the SoundCast OutCast which frequency to use, and ultimately sending your music wirelessly to the outdoor speaker.

Wireless Range: The OutCast wireless outdoor speaker has a range of up to 350' when wirelessly connected to a SoundCast transmitter (sold separately).

Playback Controls: There are three buttons on the top surface of the outdoor speaker which are used to control your docked iPod/iPhone in the iCast Transmitter (sold separately). The OutCast offers basic iPod/iPhone playback controls (Play/Pause, Fast Forward/Reverse, Previous/Skip). This way you can control your  music in one room, while your iPod is docked in another room. Your iPod/iPhone's clickwheel or touchscreen will remain fully functional when docked for advanced playback and menu control. Also supports these same playback control for Bluetooth-enabled devices via the BlueSound Bluetooth receiver (sold separately).

Note: The OutCast does not offer song/artist information display. You will still need to view song/artist information from your mobile device.

Auxiliary Input: There is a 3.5mm auxiliary input on the side-panel of the OutCast which can be used to connect a portable audio device directly to the outdoor speaker.

Power Supply: The SoundCast OutCast operates off of the included Ni-MH rechargeable battery or AC power (via the supplied AC power cord). The Ni-MH rechargeable battery provides up to 10 hours of playback. The Ni-MH battery can be recharged by plugging the outdoor speaker's AC power cord into an AC wall outlet.

Note: You should charge the battery pack for at least 3 hours before initial operation.

A
If you were to use the Soundcast Universal AudioCast Transmitter (link to product on our website: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_751UAT250/Soundcast-Universal-AudioCast-Transmitter.html?tp=2051) to the OutCast speaker, that would allow you to operate up to two SoundCast wireless speaker systems simultaneously. The unit comes with a battery, but we don't have a listing for a replacement battery. However, it does look like Soundcast sells those batteries directly. You can find them on the gosoundcast.com website.
