About the Soundcast™ Surroundcast Kit

Tara W.

Enjoy a wireless connection to your home theater's rear speakers. This system transmits rear-channel signals to your surround speakers, so you don't have to run speaker wire to the back of your room. It also delivers 25 watts of power to each speaker, thanks to a built-in amplifier. The transmitter connects to speaker terminals on your home theater receiver. It sends signals wirelessly to the system's amplified receiver, which in turn powers the rear speakers at the back of your room.

Features

Overview: The SoundCast SurroundCast wireless surround sound system is a combination of a wireless transmitter and wireless amplified receiver with internal antennas to broadcast the audio surround signal of your home theater receiver to your rear-surround speakers in the back of the room via wireless link (2.4 GHz frequency band).

Note: To complete the SoundCast SurroundCast system, you will need a home theater receiver and a pair of rear-surround speakers.

In-Room Wireless Transmission: The SurroundCast wireless surround sound system is designed for in-room transmission range only (up to 50'), between your home theater receiver and pair of rear-surround speakers (via a 2.4 GHz frequency band).

Note: This product uses a radio technology that is not compatible with other SoundCast products. It is designed for the express purpose of in-room surround sound applications.

Wireless Transmitter:The SoundCast SurroundCast wireless transmitter connects to your home theater receiver's rear-surround speaker outputs (via standard speaker wire) and then wirelessly transmits your home theater system's rear-channel audio to the included SurroundCast receiver, via a 2.4 GHz frequency band.

Wireless Amplified Receiver: The SoundCast SurroundCast wireless amplified receiver connects to your rear-surround speakers via standard speaker wire. The wireless amplified receiver receives the rear-channel audio from your home theater receiver via the connected SurrroundCast transmitter over a 2.4 GHz frequency band. It then sends the signal to your connected rear-surround speakers, while amplifying your surround speakers at the same time. The wireless amplified receiver features a 25-watt x 2-channel amplifier (50-watts total).

Note: Only connect the wireless amplified receiver to a pair of passive speakers (not amplified).

Volume Controls: The volume controls found on the transmitter and receiver are to be used for system calibration only, so your system's rear-surround volume output matches the level of the other speakers in your system. You will still use your home theater receiver's volume control to adjust your system's overall volume.

Speaker Terminals: The SurroundCast receiver and transmitter are both equipped with 2-pair of spring-clip speaker terminals. The wireless transmitter plugs into your home theater receiver's rear-surround speaker outputs, while the wireless amplified receiver plugs into your rear-surround speakers (using standard speaker wire).

Note: Be certain that you are connecting the included transmitter to your home theater receiver. Connecting the included receiver to your home theater receiver could result in damage to the SurroundCast receiver and/or your home theater equipment.

Mounting: The SurroundCast receiver and transmitter can be table-top mounted using the included pedestal bases, or wall-mounted using the integrated key-hole slots on back of both units. For best results, both the transmitter and receiver should be installed in a vertical orientation.

Note: A distance of 3-feet or more between SurroundCast and your other wireless devices is preferable for optimum performance.

Power Supply: The SurroundCast transmitter and amplified receiver both operate off of standard household AC current using the supplied AC power adapter.

Auto Power: The SurroundCast features an Auto Power function that turns both the transmitter and receiver off when there is not audio signal being fed to the system after approximately 20 minutes. This feature provides energy savings when your home theater system is not being used. Once the system detects the presence of an audio signal, it automatically turns the SurroundCast transmitter and receiver back on.

Note: Allow a few seconds for the audio to play through the speakers as the system is waking up.

Q
Hello , Can this unit be used for height speakers ? Thank you , Joe D
joe dattilo  Jul 14, 2016

A
The short answer is yes. The unit is not specific to any channel, so can be used for surround, height, mains, etc. However, be aware that a wire must be run from the Soundcast receiver unit to each speaker. So you will still have wires running to your height speakers.
roderick  Jul 15, 2016
A
I think so. It is a small amp and can power a pair of small speakers. I use it to power my surround speakers. Ithe is driving a pair of small Polk speakers.
peter  Jul 15, 2016
A
Yes the set can be used for the height speaker output. Surroundcast kit has worked very well for us. However, because of interference issues only one kit can be used so must decide which speaker set you want to drive wirelessly. Thus if use for height speakers cannot use for surround back speakers etc.

I will use this for my TV sound (that comes from my Stereo via cable box). I am concerned about lip sync delay. If anyone is using for TV, is there any lip sync delay?

We use it for our home theater surround speakers and there isn't any delay with those. We're very happy with SoundCast

I used thrm for surroundsound. I think they are junk. They pop loud. I don't even use them no more
brad  May 24, 2016
A
There is no lip sync delay. Some receivers enable you to compensate for this but I have been using this product and not detected any delay,

I do not know

this equipment has a receiver and a transmitter the rear speaker are connected to receiver thru speaker cable so it's not completely wireless the receiver should not be inside the ceiling
paul  Jan 28, 2016
A
Unfortunately I am NOT able to answer this question it really works great I'm back about 30 feet from the unit but I have clear sight
thomas w  Jan 28, 2016
A
Hi Fred, The ceiling should not cause a problem unless it is metal or it is a long distance away. Line of site is still best so if you place the transmitter on the floor and the receiver up in a dropped ceiling with lots of metal you might have trouble. Distance is more the issue.

Q
My Denon AVRX4100W keeps going into protection mode. What is the impedance of the transmitter? (The protection history shows it's popping off because of speaker impedance, and my wired speakers are all 8 ohm)

Q
I'm a first time looker at wireless speaker hookup. I have an older Onkyo receiver with surround outputs. Does this product hookup to two existing wired surround speakers or do I need two new wireless speakers? Wil this wireless sound have any issues with wired floorstanding speakers? Does this wireless system allow for reciever sound control of volume, bass, etc? Thanks Ben
ben smith  Jan 04, 2015

A
The SoundCast SurroundCast wireless transmitter connects to your home theater receiver's rear-surround speaker outputs (via standard speaker wire) and then wirelessly transmits your home theater system's rear-channel audio to the included SurroundCast receiver, via a 2.4 GHz frequency band. The volume on this unit is only used for set-up to match volume with your other speakers. Once that is set the volume of these speakers will adjust through your Onkyo receiver just as the rest of the system does. There will be no issues with using wired speakers for your fronts, and using these to power the smaller speakers in the rear.

Q
My surround speakers are separated. Can I pair a single transmitting unit with multiple receiving units? Or is there a better approach?
tim  Jan 02, 2015
3 answers
A
You can not pair a single transmitter with two receivers as the pairing process will end the instant one receiver is paired with the transmitter. You need 2 separate transmitter-receiver pairs - one for the left channel speaker and one for the right channel speaker. The transmitters need to be separated by a least 3 feet to avoid inference. Expensive, but it does work and eliminates a lot of wiring.
harold  Jan 04, 2016
A
Yes you can. Mine are also separated, I just put the receiver under the couch and run the wires under the couch.
raymond  Jan 10, 2015
A
This question would be better directed to the manufacturer's tech support. I had to run wire to each speaker from the receiver, which I agree defeats the purpose of the wireless receiver concept. It eliminated the need for some wiring, but not all.

Q
I am using a vintage Marantz stereo receiver ( not surround ) and would like to know if this product will work as a wireless system for a B set of speakers?
mark s  Dec 11, 2014
5 answers
A
Yes you should be able to use these on the b channel speakers just fine.
james a.  Dec 14, 2014
A
Don't know haven't installed them yet
brad  Dec 11, 2014
A
I don't see any reason why not, it attaches to any standard speaker output on a receiver. I have it attached to surround channels L & R, could just as easily be attached to the B channels L & R. What I don't have a lot of info on is range. I'm using it about 14 feet away from the receiver, directly across in the same room. Don't know how it would function if you're trying to set up a B set of speakers in a different room. Good luck!

I am using a vintage Kenwood 8070 receiver. in our new home where we wanted to put the speakers it would have been difficult to do hardwired speakers. I have always been reluctant to use wireless as I always felt that you lost something. I have this hooked up to a pair of Bose 301 they sound just great would I use them for my front ohm walsh speakers most likely not but I think as long as you were not trying to use some high-end audio file type speakers you will be impressed and very happy because I am
thomas w  Dec 11, 2014
A
I don't see why not. The only question is range if they are in a remote room.
