The CWS10's passive design requires a separate amplifier to operate. The Boston Acoustics SA1 amplifier makes an excellent choice for powering it.

Dual 10" Passive In-Wall Subwoofer: The PSB CustomSound series CWS10 is a high performance fully enclosed in-wall subwoofer. A pair of 10″ woofers of unique design provide stand-alone subwoofer performance in a wall mounted enclosure only 3.75" deep. Woven fiberglass cones are used for high excursion and high power handling. The CWS10 employs carefully engineered driver mass and motor-strength to "take the wall out of the equation," delivering
astonishingly powerful but controlled deep bass.

Note: The PSB CWS10 offers a 30-200Hz frequency response, is rated at 4-ohms, and can handle 50-300 watts of power (92dB sensitivity rating).

Basket/Frame: The CWS10 has a sturdy ABS basket and frame. The frame can be painted to match any decor (a clear paint mask is supplied to protect the drivers from overspray). The aluminum mesh grille is also paintable.

Binding-Post Speaker Terminals: The PSB CWS10 is fitted with binding-post speaker terminals to connect your in-wall speaker wire. The spring-post terminals will accept bare wire (up to 12AWG), pin-connectors, and banana plugs (single or dual). Use appropriate gauge speaker wire based on how long your speaker wire run will be.

>25-50 ft: 14-gauge
Over 50 ft: 12-gauge

Mounting Options: The PSB CWS10 uses an effective mounting technique with toggle-style mounting clamps. These "dog-leg" style mounting clips insure quick, easy, and secure mounting in the wall. A template is provided for marking the speaker cutout. It has a series of slots for tracing the cutout and also an outline of the speaker to confirm that the flange won't interfere with any wall features. The CWS8 requires a cut-out diameter of 13" (w) x 37.5" (h) with a mounting dept of 3.75". There needs to be at least 0.6875" of space around the cut-out to accommodate the in-wall speaker's overall frame. The speaker's frame and grille will sit 0.375" away from the wall.

Note: The PSB CWS10 should be mounted on the same wall as your front speakers; avoid mounting the in-wall subwoofer at the rear of the room or on the side walls far from the front wall. Be aware, that mounting the CWS10 closer to a corner will generally increase the overall bass level and that will increase its output capability.

Optional Power Amp: PSB's CWA-1 power amplifier (sold separately) has been designed for use with the CustomSound Series CWS10 and other passive subwoofers.
