Great bass without wasted space

Use PSB's CWS8 to add deep bass impact to your home theater or listening room without giving up an inch of floor space. This passive subwoofer mounts flush into your wall for a discreet, clutter-free look. Its dual 8" drivers serve up powerful lows that bring your music and movies to life. It features PSB's classic high-quality design and construction to ensure clean, powerful low-frequency response. And once it's installed, all you'll see is the included paintable aluminum grille.

The CWS8's passive design requires a separate amplifier to operate. The Boston Acoustics SA1 amplifier makes an excellent choice for powering it.

Product Research

Dual 8" Passive In-Wall Subwoofer: The PSB CustomSound series CWS8 in-wall subwoofer features dual 8" woofers with woven fiberglass cones for high excursion and high power handling. The CWS8 employs carefully engineered driver mass and motor-strength to "take the wall out of the equation," delivering astonishingly powerful but controlled deep bass from a 4.0625" deep in-wall subwoofer.

Note: The PSB CWS8 offers a 39-200Hz frequency response, is rated at 4-ohms, and can handle 40-200 watts of power (87dB sensitivity rating).

Basket/Frame: The CWS8 has a sturdy ABS basket and frame. The frame can be painted to match any decor (a clear paint mask is supplied to protect the drivers from overspray). The aluminum mesh grille is also paintable.

Speaker Terminals: The PSB CWS8 is fitted with spring-load post speaker terminals to connect your in-wall speaker wire. The spring-post terminals will accept bare wire (up to 12AWG), pin-connectors, and banana plugs (single or dual).

Mounting Options: The PSB CWS8 uses an effective mounting technique with toggle-style mounting clamps. These eight "dog-leg" style mounting clips insure quick, easy, and secure mounting in the wall. A template is provided for marking the speaker cutout. It has a series of slots for tracing the cutout and also an outline of the speaker to confirm that the flange won't interfere with any wall features. The CWS8 requires a cut-out diameter of 9.75" (w) x 16.875" (h) with a mounting dept of 4". There needs to be at least 0.6875" of space around the cut-out to accommodate the in-wall speaker's overall frame. The speaker's frame and grille will sit 0.3125" away from the wall.

Note: For the new construction application, PSB offers Performance Enclosure and Preconstruction Bracket solutions (both sold separately by manufacture). The Performance Enclosure provides optimal low frequency response and is mounted between two studs behind drywall. The Pre-construction Brackets simplify installation in new construction application and can be used with or without the Performance Enclosure.

Optional Power Amp: PSB's CWA-1 power amplifier (sold separately) has been designed for use with the CustomSound Series CWS8 and other passive subwoofers.
