High-performance center channel for compact sound systems

PSB's Image C4 center channel dishes out impressively natural sound and clear dialogue in a compact enclosure, making it an excellent visual match for today's slim flat-panel TVs. The Image line borrows driver technologies developed for PSB's sophisticated Imagine family, as well as their top-tier Synchrony speakers, giving you high-end sound at a budget-friendly price. The Image line also features a slightly different cabinet design than its predecessors, showcasing clean lines that won't clutter up your listening room.

Advanced drivers for clean, well-balanced sound

K2 Power crossover network

The tweeter uses a powerful neodymium magnet for crystal-clear highs.

The Image C4 features a 1" titanium dome tweeter that effortlessly dishes out smooth, uncolored highs. Its two long-excursion, high-output 4" woofers use the same proprietary ceramic-filled polypropylene cone as the Imagine line. The stiff, lightweight material helps them deliver midrange that's clean and balanced, with surprisingly deep bass. It all adds up to distinct movie dialogue and impact-rich special effects that'll draw you into the on-screen action.

Sleek, thoughtful cabinet design

All Image speakers have heavy internal bracing and 1-1/8" thick MDF cabinets to ensure impressively solid, acoustically inert enclosures. The cabinets have a traditional look that's softened by slightly curved panels. This family of speakers also features attractive vinyl finishes, allowing the Image speakers to easily integrate into just about any décor.

Your home theater's most important speaker

The center channel speaker is the workhorse in a home theater system. It has to reproduce clear dialogue and special effects that keep your eyes and ears glued to the movie action. A high-quality center speaker is a great investment for any surround sound setup. Try to choose one that's as closely matched as possible to your front right and left speakers, so that as sound moves across the front stage, it stays seamlessly realistic.

Very Nice 4 inch speaker containing center channel; paired with the image 5's sound very good. Not top of the line stuff but great value for the price

Pros: Price

Great little center!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great little center. I was looking for a center that would match the sound profile of my NHT V2 2.4's. They have aluminum tweeters, so that's why i went with the PSB (that and the sensitivity rating matched closely). Was running a Polk CS10 which sounded, well terrible.

Pros: "titanium coated", aluminum tweeters. Composite woofers. Baffled enclosure.

Cons: Screen that fits over the drivers could be more sonically transparent. Minus one star, but overall a great pick.

Great sound

Great speaker for the sound and price. Very impressed with clear voice sound reproduction.

Pros: Sound, price

Cons: Magnetic shielding, as a center channel next to my equipment, I had to change the position of wi-fi.

Love PSB's!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are matched to my PSB T-5's for the mains and PSB B4's for the rear as my speaker set up. Gotta say these just reinforce my love for PSB products. I wanted a c5's but was limited by the mantle size above my fireplace. But the center channel is not limited as it sounds great. Handles all the dialogue clearly and without taking away anything from the action scenes.

Pros: very clear dialogue and great sound.

Cons: wish they were smaller, but not a big problem.

Great speaker for the size and price. Very impressed with the sound. Recommended by the Crutchfield adviser. I bought the PSB C4 speakers for the front. Next I will be buying the PSB C4 Sub, rear and outdoor speakers.

Pros: Sound, size and price

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got this speaker to enhance my existing PSB setup of two bookshelf and subwoofer for my entertainment system. It blends flawlessly with my setup and provides the additional clarity that I was hoping for. I definitely recommend this unit to anyone already having PSB speakers or anyone that wants a solid midrange performer.

Pros: Size, PSB quality

Cons: Set up for smaller systems and might get lost with larger speakers.

Nice even tone

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Simply put, a very nice center channel speaker. I have the PSB Image B5 speakers to match this, and they work very smoothly together. I used to struggle with my older center channel being muddy in with the mix of the stereo speakers - but not with this. It's also quite small, so fits well in a smaller entertainment unit my TV is mounted over. These speakers focus on clear sound reproduction that's clear without booming - and this certainly gets that sound without breaking the bank. FYI, my system is for both music and theater, and driven by a Harmon Kardon AVR 300 from the late 1990's.

Pros: Nice, clear and rounded sound. It fits nicely in a small footprint, sounding much larger than it really is. A good price for a very nice speaker.

Cons: I would have gotten the slightly larger C5 if I could have fitted it into my entertainment center - that one provides a little more expansive frequency response.

Driver Technology

Cone Design: The two woofer cones are clay/ceramic filled polypropylene to optimize the combination of stiffness, internal damping, and low mass. Each woofer's magnetically neutral polycarbonate basket contributes additional stiffness.

Tweeter: The 1" titanium dome, Ferrofluid cooled tweeter uses a neodymium magnet structure to help extend the frequency response at both ends for effortless, airy top octaves and smooth, uncolored response.

Crossover Network: The crossover is a 2-way acoustical fourth order Linkwitz-Riley type with a 24 dB/octave slope. The tweeter and woofers are crossed over at 2,200 Hz.

Binding Posts: The binding post input terminal will accept spade connectors, single banana plugs, pin connectors, and bare wire up to 8 gauge.
