Awesome Center Channel Speaker
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I've had a home theatre setup for the past four years using an Energy Take Classic 5.1 system which I liked quite a bit for the money, but started noticing after a while that dialogue in movies was not as clear as I would like and started a search for a new system. To be fair, I'll mention that this time I started the search with a bigger budget, with a limit of about $2k. My constraint was that I didn't have room for large speakers, so the system would have to be small in size. I listened to B&Ws, which were ok but they were not that clear at voice frequencies. I was about to settle on Martin Logan's Motion 15, which sounded very nice although they were a bit big for my space when I read about PSB speakers, in particular the PSB Imagine Minis. It was not easy to find a dealer to audition them in my area, but I was finally able to listen to the Imagine C mini, and I was amazed. The clarity of this speaker is incredible for its price. I own a pair of high-end Canton speakers that I use with my stereo system, and I was surprised to see that this little speaker came close to their performance in terms of clarity. Of course bass definition was not as good, but this is to be expected from a small speaker. Don't get me wrong, you will get enough ambiance and well defined bass, a very good job for its size. After I purchased the Mini C from Crutchfield (great service by the way!), I decided to get a pair of Imagine Mini front speakers. Very happy with the choice I made!
Pros: Small size, clarity, performance
Cons: A bit less bass punch, but nothing that a subwoofer won't solve
