PSB's Imagine X1T tower delivers refined sound with the kind of spatial and dynamic accuracy that will make it a hit in any home theater or stereo music system. The Imagine X line borrows from driver technologies developed for PSB's top-tier Synchrony speakers, giving you high-end sound at a budget-friendly price. The Imagine X1T also features clean lines and a slim cabinet design that won't clutter up your listening room.
The Imagine X1T's 1" titanium dome tweeter effortlessly dishes out smooth, uncolored highs. The speaker's dual 5-1/4" woofers use an advanced clay/ceramic-filled polypropylene cone design. This stiff, lightweight material helps them deliver midrange that's clean and balanced, with surprisingly deep bass. It all adds up to realistic, detailed sound with a wide, deep soundstage that'll really draw you in.

Very Happy with the sound
I listen primarily to classical music. I use an old Carver 900 receiver which I prefer to a medium-end Onkyo stereo (non-AV) amplifier I bought a few years ago. I've been happy with a pair of Mirage tower speakers but they started going bad after my grandson tampered with them. The Crutchfield rep was very helpful in steering me to these. They're similar in structure and looks to my old speakers but sound significantly better. I have no technical knowledge, I just like what my ears hear. Clean, strong sound.
After a lot of research and talking to audiophile stores, I bought these X1Ts from Crutchfield. I also bought an NAD D 3020 Amplifier/Digital Analog Converter. Together these create a wow listening experience in an 18X18 room of our 200 year old home with wood floors and almost 10' ceilings. I had wondered if I needed the X2Ts but knowing I could add a separate dedicated sub-woofer to the 3020 Amp gave me comfort that I had an option for more or better bass if I needed it. The special rubber isolation floor pods included with the speakers make the amount of bass very nice in our room so far. I primarily listen to classical, chamber music, classical guitar, opera, pop, acoustic, jazz, along with lots of rock oldies. This system has breathed new life into all of my music and made it fun to listen to again. Currently, I am listening via iTunes highest quality downloads and some streaming. Audiophile software like Pure Music hasn't made a difference. The iTunes store offers specially mastered content and it is impressive to hear on this digital to analog system. Voices, acoustic, chamber music, and solo instruments like piano or guitar shine brightly and effortlessly. In part, knowing they use a set for their own sales training added confidence to that purchase. Price and service made it easy to pick them. And they didn't try to sell too hard on fancy speaker wires when you can buy 50 feet of 12 gauge Monoprice wire online for under $25. Get this system.
Pros: Affordable system. Well matched amp and speakers. There is plenty of power in the NAD D 3020 to make the sonics sparkle. It turns out that both the speakers and amp are from the same big company, the Lenbrook Companies, but I only learned this later. The speakers look unobtrusive in black ash with black grills or sexy with yellow tweeters and aluminum dome showing. I don't need more than -20db to fill the room completely and typically run the amp at -40db. Clean clear sound !
Cons: None yet. These are everything the reviews say they are and maybe more.
These speakers are solid performers. They have crisp high frequencies. The midrange is clear and accurate. The bass response is excellent as well. They don't have the same low end response as the my Polk RTi A7 speakers. However the treble is clearer and sharper, the midrange is more accurate. I think some may want to add a sub, but that was part of my reason for buying these. I have a better tower speaker that is plenty powerful but won't as easily overwhelm my apartment. These were the first PSB speakers I've heard. An affordable speaker I would recommend listening to.
Pros: Small footprint Sharp highs Clean sounding Great bass response Price
Cons: Some may need a subwoofer, though I don't.

2.5-Way Speaker Design: The PSB Imagine X1T floor-standing speaker employs a two-and-a-half speaker design with a single 1" tweeter and two 5.25" woofers. This dual-woofer transitional two-and-a-half way design features identical 5.25" woofers that work in tandem at the lowest frequencies but crossover at different frequencies to integrate better with room acoustics and give the optimum dispersion and power response. Like all Imagine woofers, the cone materials have been carefully engineered for optimal control, allowing for a simpler, more cost effective crossover design. With the Imagine 1" pure titanium dome tweeter, the Imagine X1T delivers refined sound with tonal, spatial and dynamic accuracy
Bass Reflex Cabinet: The Imagine X1T floor-standing speaker utilizes a bass reflex enclosure with a front-firing port for greater efficiency and bigger bass response. The cabinet's front baffle is made from 1-1/4" thick MDF and is extremely rigid to prevent unwanted distortion and vibration. A black ash wood-grain finish complements the crisp, clean lines, and slim cabinet to integrate seamlessly with almost any decor.
Dual Binding Posts: The Imagine X1T floor-standing speaker features dual 5-way, gold-plated binding posts that can accept bare wire (up to 8AWG), spade-lugs, pin-connectors, and banana plugs (single or dual). The two sets of binding posts are shorted together by a gold-plated jumper. With the jumper removed the Imagine X1T can be bi-wired or bi-amplified.NRC (Nation Research Council): Through many years of research at the National Research Council (NRC) in Canada, home to one of the world's most advanced acoustical laboratories, PSB's design team has learned not only what people love to hear, but also how they hear it in a room. Critical to the Imagine X series design is this research into human perception of sound using double-blind listening tests. Double-blind testing removes any listener bias to give us the most accurate test result. It allows PSB to understand what is most important to listeners and allows us to create the ideal blend of performance and price for every application. In 1974, PSB was the first company to use the NRC for loudspeaker development and remains the most active user of the facility today. PSB's experience with the NRC, how they interpret the data and implement it into the design of the Imagine X series speakers, gives PSB a real advantage in speaker design.
Rubber & Spiked Feet: The PSB Imagine X1T floor-standing speaker comes with four rubber feet and four spiked feet. The rubber feet should be used on hardwood and tiles floors, while the spikes should be used on carpeted flooring. The feet thread into the bottom of the speaker and are adjustable to level the speaker up with your floors. The rubber feet add approximately 0.375" to the height of the speaker, while the spiked feet add approximately 1.0" to the height of the speaker.
Applications: All PSB's Imagine X series speakers are carefully matched in timbre, giving you flexibility to combine any of the models to work together in many different rooms and system setups; from a simple stereo application to a complex home theater system.
