Flexible inputs and convenient controls

PSB makes it easy to integrate the SubSeries 200 with your existing system. You can hook your receiver or separate audio components up to the sub through its LFE, line-level, or speaker-level connections. The conveniently placed, front-panel crossover and bass volume controls lets you dial in the sound to match the '200 to the rest of your speakers. And a phase switch lets you tweak the sub's output for more precise bass response.

Blends in well with my PSB Synchrony 1bspeakers. Not a real thumper, just enough warm bass to make the system complete

Ecelente Bajo - Excellent subwoofer

Alberto Serrano from Caguas Puerto Rico on 7/24/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very good subwoofer, even though, admittedly, I was expecting more power for the price and furthermore, it's not that easy to calibrate. You almost have to be an expert to make it sound the way it should. I think PSB should have given it configuration presets, since the frequencies can already be adjusted from an amplifier, if one wishes to do so.

Pros: Ecelente Sonido muy Claro el Bajo a la hora de ver Peliculas y muy bien el Diseño. Excellent sound. The subwoofer is very clear when watching movies and it's well designed.

Cons: Precio y Dificil de Configurar. Esperaba mas Potencia por el Precio. Price and difficult to calibrate. I was expecting more power for the price.

Great first buy

Shaner from Kingston, NY on 7/2/2016

This subwoofer was my first major investment in a hifi stereo setup. It is paired with PSB x2t towers that are powered by an NAD D3020. All of my previous home stereo systems were generic "home theater in a box" types. I give this 5 stars for my review simply because I was stunned at how clear and softly delivered the bass is. I have had this subwoofer about three months now, listening to a variety of music and movies. To be honest, I keep the subwoofer set to level 2 or 3 and the crossover all the way down. For me there is no need to go higher for daily use, and only turn it up on occasion when I want to try and disrupt my foundation. I currently have it positioned to the left of my right tower. Not sure if that'll be it's final spot. I didn't really notice a significant break in period, unlike the towers. It has a very fast reaction, able to accurately deliver the bass drums from Fear Factory and Soilwork. But also has a feathery light touch that is profound on Rumours from Fleetwood Mac. So basically I am over all very pleased with this subwoofer, I feel like it's the perfect starter sub for newfound audiophiles.

Pros: Simple and clean design, excellent dynamic range

Cons: Control knobs are in front with a small led light, so I keep the grill on to hide them. A minor flaw, but I like to look at the speaker and not a grill.

Great Speaker

Anonymous from Maryland on 9/22/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this subwoofer to go with my PSB Imagine XB speakers and my NAD C356 BEE integrated Amp. The PSB 200 is great. It meshes well with my Bookcase speakers. This system is for music only, and the PSB 200 provides very tight and clear sound, reproducing percussion and bass lines with excellent results. An Excellent sub for music, but it will still rattle the windows when needed.

Pros: Great for music reproduction!

Cons:

PSB SubSeries 200

Steve A from Albert Lea, MN on 3/28/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased the PSB 200 sub to replace my klipsch sub that has been running strong for nearly 10 years now. The PSB 200 is every bit as good as my klipsch is but has a more subtle side to it. It can thump and reach way down when it needs to, but it can give a very deep quiet feel that I really enjoy. At low volume listioning levels I feel that it is superior to the klipsch.

Pros: A very good 10 inch subwoofer made by PSB who makes some of the best speakers you can buy.

Cons: None

Good Vibrations

Jon M from Newtown Square, PA on 2/8/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Really improved my home theater, adding visceral thrills to low frequency sound effects from movies but is also adequately restrained when used for music.

Pros: The sound quality itself.

Cons: Adjustment knobs under the grill of the front speaker. Not sure why they did that but it's a pretty minor inconvenience.

Better than expected

Switchboss from Schenectady, NY on 2/3/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had a sub woofer. My wife who has a Master's Degree in Digital recording and electronic music vocally disliked it. I traded it in on a more expensive sub woofer from another company. It was much better than the original. Years go by. Recently I purchased this PSB sub woofer for a pure stereo system. The previous is part of my home theater. I am surprised at the clarity and the solid response. It is cleaner than I would expect a sub woofer to be. The NAD amp pushes the speaker to high volume levels effortlessly. I have it matched up with Paradigm model 11's driven by 2 NAD's Amplifiers that are bridged. So the Paradigms are driven by whopping power, and this PSB holds it own with them nicely.

Pros: Clean sound beyond my expectations. Nicely built. Great speaker posts, clear labeling. NAD amps are my personal favorite, this product makes me like them even more.

Cons: It is going to have to break prematurely for me to say something bad about.

BEst addition to the PSB image T6

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these to round out my NAD 757 and PSB image Tower speakers. This sub is amazing. It totally rounds out the stereo system, adding nice bass.

Pros: Awesome. Overall. Awesome

Cons: knobs to adjust levels are on the front, behind a speaker cover.

PSB Subwoofer SubSeries 200

JoeR from Kirkland, WA on 4/15/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this PSB subwoofer to complete my home theater setup. The front speakers are PSB B5's, with a center PSB C5 speaker. This subwoofer provides enough bass for me for music and movies. It was easy to setup letting my A/V Pioneer receiver do the crossover and phase. All I needed to do is set the volume control on the speaker to provide just enough bass for my ears. the B5 speakers still handle a lot of bass, but the subwoofer adds that extra bass needed. You can really hear the difference a good sub can provide. I cannot imagine needing anymore bass than this sub provides for my system.

Pros: Nice looking, great sound

Cons: No automatic on. I turn on and off the power - not sure I need to, but I don't leave any equipment on when I'm not using it.

The finishing touch for my NAD/PSB system.

Gary from Coarsegold, CA on 2/11/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'd originally purchased my NAD/PSB system, which included a NAD C326BEE integrated amp and a set of PSB Image B6 bookshelf speakers, hoping that this setup would be adequate to fill my15x16 living room with clean, beautiful sound. Although it came close, there was no denying that something was missing. I was reluctant at first to spend the extra money on this sub, but I'm SO glad I did. This unit added that extra weight that completes the musical experience. I did alot of research, and was surprised to find that this bottom end of the spectrum includes not only the obvious bass guitar, cello, and such, but also the lower resonances of many other instruments incl the male voice. Words are inadequate, you just have to hear it. This thing could probably break windows if you let it, but I have it adjusted so that it simply fills in the bottom end in a flat, seamless way, which only requires about 1/4 to 3/8 volume. I leave the subs crossover open, relying on the C326BEE sub outs crossover to handle this chore. The photos provided by Crutchfield unfortunately leave out the grill, which is the cosmetic match for my PSB B6's. Also, the small indicator lamp that peers through the grill matches my NAD components power indicators, being orange in "stand-by", blue when "on". The subs 200 W amp is made by NAD. Tasty. Bonham's drums, Jaco's bass, Horace Silvers piano, and Alan Jackson's rich voice come alive now. Clear, detailed, and strong.

Pros: Cosmetic match for PSB Image speakers. NAD amp. Power indicator matches NAD component power indicators. Sound quality.

Features

PSB SubSeries: The PSB SubSeries 200 powered subwoofer is designed to provide the flattest possible frequency response, full bass extension, low distortion, and high output. The PSB SubSeries powered subwoofer is perfect for music and movie soundtracks.

Class D Discrete MOSFET Amp (from NAD): The PSB SubSeries 200 powered subwoofer employs a custom-designed Class D discrete MOSFET amplifier from NAD. The integrated digital amplifier from NAD features an automatic varying switching frequency that maintains maximum efficiency and low THD under all conditions. The Class D amplifier also incorporates proprietary limiting circuitry preventing audible overload while remaining true to the dynamics of your music or movie sound track. This circuitry combines peak limiting circuits that  hold amplifier signal swing to the point just short of the amplifier's clipping, with compression circuitry that will reduce the amplifier's gain.

10" Woofer: To compliment the powerful Class D amplifier, the SubSeries 200 uses a 10" polypropylene cone woofer with rubber surround, 1.5" voice coil, and 35oz magnet. The PSB woofer is designed to reduce mechanical noise and prevent harsh sounds at extreme excursion.

Bass-Reflex Cabinet: The PSB SubSeries 200 powered subwoofer features a bass-reflex cabinet with a down-firing port for greater efficiency and bass response. The down-firing port has a large radius end that flares to reduce noise from air turbulence.

Controls

Front-Mounted Controls: Two rotary control knobs (volume/crossover) and phase switch are provided on the front of the subwoofer for added convenience. The front-mounted controls are hidden behind detachable grille.

Volume Control: The rotary volume knob controls the output level of the powered subwoofer, relative to the volume of the other speakers in the system.

Low-Pass Crossover: The low-pass crossover adjusts the high-frequency roll-off of signals sent to the subwoofer. The control is continuously variable from 50 Hz to 150 Hz, and allows you to precisely match the subwoofer's bass production with your system's main left & right stereo speakers.

Phase Switch:  The phase switch allows for the adjustment of the phase of the subwoofer in relation to the speakers used in the system; either 0 or 180 degrees.

Auto On/Off: The powered subwoofer features a main power switch on the back panel. When switched to On, the subwoofer is initially in stand-by mode, awaiting the presence of an audio signal. When the signal is received, the subwoofer turns on automatically. When no signal is detected, the sub's amp will automatically turn off after approximately 15 minutes. In the Off position, the subwoofer will not power up. A green LED, located on the front panel between the control knobs, will glow when the subwoofer is active (it will glow red when off).

Connections

LFE Input/Output: A single gold-plated RCA jack (LFE) is provided for connecting the powered subwoofer to your AV receiver's LFE output. Since the subwoofer/LFE outputs are filtered by most receivers/processors, the subwoofer's variable low-pass filter is not required and is bypassed. The powered subwoofer also has an LFE output for adding additional subwoofers.

Stereo RCA Input/Output: Two gold-plated RCA jacks are provided for connecting your receiver via the low-level input. If your receiver or integrated amplifier has preamp outputs, or if you are using a preamplifier without a designated subwoofer/LFE output, the preferred connection is to use a stereo RCA cable plugged into both left and right inputs. If the preamp outputs are unfiltered, the subwoofer's internal crossover should be used. The powered sub also has stereo preamp outputs; useful if your amp has pre-out/main-in jacks.

Speaker-Level Input: Two pairs of 5-way binding post terminals (for left and right channel) are provided for connecting the powered sub with speaker wire. The terminals will accept bare wire, spade lugs, pin connectors, and single or dual banana plugs.

Power Cord: The subwoofer has a removable 8' power cord with an IEC 2-pronged connector. This allows you to use a third-party IEC-type power cord, if desired.
