About the Hoya EVO Circular Polarizer

Woody Sherman
A circular polarizing filter is a must for any photographer who shoots outdoors on sunny days — in other words, just about all of you. It reduces glare and surface reflections on shiny objects, and deepens the color of skies, foliage and water by reducing the amount of scattered, multi-directional rays of sunlight reaching the sensor.

These filters are made to exacting standards. The glass is specially blended for optimal optical results, and the careful multi-coating process minimizes any reflections from the glass that might cause flaring or ghosting. A rigid, protective aluminum frame keeps the filter firmly in place, and the low profile makes it compatible with many super- and ultra-wide angle lenses that otherwise might not be able to accommodate a filter.

Features

Overview: The Hoya EVO Circular Polarizing (CIR-PL) filter is designed to eliminate reflections from non-metallic surfaces, such as water and glass. CIR-PL filters also enable colors to become more saturated and appear clearer with better contrast. The filter's multi-layer coatings reduce ghost images and flare. EVO filters are made in Japan using precision optical glass. The Improved Super Multi-coating (IS-HMC) formula greatly reduces or eliminates reflections off the surface of the glass. The filters are overlayed with a clear water and stain-resistant coating that is easy to clean. All of the coating layers are applied in a furnace to bond the coating to the glass.

Aluminum Filter Frame: Hoya EVO filters have a very low-profile aluminum filter frame to house the glass. This keeps the filter glass perfectly parallel to the plane of the CCD or COS sensor, while providing enough rigidity to last for years.
