Our take on the Hoya DMC Pro 1 UV Filter

You can leave this UV filter on your lens at all times to protect from minor bumps and scratches. It also absorbs UV light, which can result in outdoor photos that appear hazy.

A high-perfomance filter for digital cameras
Hoya's Pro 1 series of filters are specifically designed to improve the optical performance of your digital camera. A special multi-coating reduces the appearance of lens flare and ghosting. The filter's low-profile black almite frame and black-rimmed glass minimize reflections.

Highlights:

  • glass lens filter
  • fits most lenses with 58mm thread diameter
  • protects lens from bumps, scratches, and dust
  • absorbs UV light in outdoor photos
  • multi-layer coatings reduce ghost images and flare
  • low-profile black almite frame and black-rimmed glass minimize reflections
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Features

Overview: The HOYA Pro 1 Digital UV Filter absorbs the ultraviolet rays which often makes outdoor photographs hazy and indistinct. This multi-purpose, fine-weather filter can be used for color as well as black & white photos. It also serves as a permanent lens protector. The HOYA Pro 1 Digital UV Filter offers the following key features.

  • Digital Multi Coated: Greatly reduces lens flare and ghosting caused by reflections.
  • Black Almite Frame: Black matte aluminum satin finish almite frame for reducing reflection.
  • Black Rimmed Glass: Black rimmed glass reduces light reflection around the filter edge.
  • Low Profile Frame: Ultra-thin filter frame to help avoid vignetting on super wide-angle lenses.
  • Knurling Edge Frame: Equipped with a knurling edge for easy attachment and removal.
  • UV Protected Case: Filter storage case is UV protected to further lengthen the life of the filter.

Note: This filter fits most lenses with a 58mm thread diameter.

You've probably done the research, and if not, well Hoya super multi-coated
filters are essential to any valuable DSLR lens. If you own a Canon L lens,
don't even think about getting the Canon made filter (uncoated) or Tiffen. The
superior performance of the Hoya Pro1 D will be real clear once you compare.

I went for the best. I am not a professional photographer and can not judge on the subtleties of the filters, but it is well built, easy to attach and all my photos are as clear and not distorted as I can judge.
Pros:
Well built, easy to attach, my photos look great.
Cons:
none
