Unpacking the SUV at the trailhead. The sense of anticipation is palpable. It's your first outdoor getaway in nearly a year and your new camera rig has you more than ready to give it a shakedown cruise. Your friends look approvingly at your new Lowepro Rover Pro 45L backpack. And why not? It carries plenty of gear for an extended backcountry excursion, while providing secure storage for your pro-sized DSLR plus attached 24-70mm zoom lens — plus some handy accessories, like 3-4 extra lenses,  flashes or specialty mounts, and tripod.

A side pocket provides room for up to 2 liter hydration reservoirs (not included), so you won't be fishing for an unwieldy water bottle along the trail. And your gear will be close at hand, because it's accessible through both the top opening and the front hatch-style portal. Transport a tripod or monopod with the side-mounted tripod cinch, and have it ready for a stable shot in seconds. There's really no better way to have all the features you demand for safe and convenient transport of your photographic gear, and the flexibility you need for easy backcountry travel.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got tired of having to decide what to leave behind when I went out into the field to photograph. With the Lowepro Rover Pro 45L AW, it is tough to fill it to capacity - it's that big. It carries my Nikon D7000, 2 long lenses, 2 short lenses, an SB600 flash along with the misc. memory cards, batteries, cleaning supplies, etc. Then there is the water bladder space and also space for a jacket and food. I am sure I could find a place to also include my D70. Once you have the tripod strapped to the outside and you are ready to go, you will however need to be in good shape to carry all that weight. By no means is the full setup light. I found that if I carried my tripod with the D7000 attached, the load on my back was much easier to handle. I am sure with enough time in the field I will get in better shape to handle the load. I would have given this product 5 stars except for the lack of a user guide on how to use all the features this backpack has.

Pros: LOTS of space and many, many different compartments.

Cons: A fully loaded pack is very heavy. Lowepro could do a better job of explaining what some of the hooks and latches are used for. I watched a few videos but they were mostly marketing videos and not technical how-to videos.
