Quality tunes, good looks, and wireless convenience

The Audioengine B2 wireless speaker is attractive, easy to use, and delivers the company's renowned sound. It's packed with the same driver array as the Audioengine A2+ speaker pair, a Crutchfield customer favorite. Silk dome tweeters produce smooth highs, and custom Kevlar woofers keep the mids and bass tight.

Music flows wirelessly from your Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, tablet, or PC. A fine-tuned antenna with special circuitry gives you 100 feet of wireless range to move around in freely.

A sound purpose

Along with its striking looks, the hand finished wood cabinet also serves an acoustic purpose. Its solid MDF construction silences resonance that can be detrimental to sound quality. Carefully designed and strategically placed bass ports enhance the low end from the powerful Kevlar woofers, while minimizing air turbulence that can detract from the clarity of the bass. You'll find the ports on the front panel when you remove the grille.

Bluetooth with the aptX® advantage

Audioengine hasn't sacrificed audio quality for convenience. For the best of both worlds, the B2 features aptX audio coding. This advanced type of Bluetooth wireless streaming retains virtually all the detail of the audio signal it carries. And the system is backwards-compatible with earlier forms of Bluetooth. So you can play your music wirelessly from almost any portable device and still enjoy outstanding sound.

Features

Bluetooth Wireless Music Streaming: The AudioEngine B2 Bluetooth speaker features Bluetooth 5.0 with support for A2DP wireless music streaming. You'll be able to wirelessly stream stored music and music apps from your Bluetooth-enabled Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad, Android smartphone/tablet, Blackberry, Windows PC, Mac computer, and other Bluetooth-enabled devices to the Bluetooth B2 speaker system. You will continue to control your music and view song/artist information from your Bluetooth-enabled device.

Note: Due to the differences in Bluetooth technology, some Bluetooth enabled devices may be incompatible, function improperly, or may not support all features when used with the AudioEngine B2 Bluetooth speaker.

aptX High-Quality Sound: The AudioEngine B2 Bluetooth speaker supports aptX audio coding, which is featured on a growing number of Android OS 4.0+ mobile devices as well as MacBooks and Apple desktop computers. aptX allows audio to be broadcast wirelessly in significantly higher quality than over standard Bluetooth. The aptX codec achieves a 4:1 compression ratio, allowing for near-CD quality listening (16-bit/44.1kHz). You'll instantly notice more extensive dynamic range, deeper bass, and crystal-clear top end.

Note: The Bluetooth B2 also includes support for other codecs like SBC, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and AAC.

Extended Range: The B2 Bluetooth speaker system also has special circuitry and a precision-tuned internal antenna to extend the wireless range (up to 100'), providing much more versatility than many other Bluetooth speakers on the market.

Secure Simple Pairing (SSP): With Secure Simple Pairing (SSP), you can easily pair a Bluetooth-enabled device to the AudioEngine B2 speaker system with a single button press and without having to enter pin codes or go through complicated settings.

TI/Burr-Brown DAC: The AudioEngine B2 Bluetooth speaker utilizes a TI/Burr-Brown DAC with support for 16-bit/48kHz native music files.

Two-Way Active Speaker System: The AudioEngine B2 Bluetooth speaker employs a two-way driver design with two 0.75" silk dome tweeters and two 2.75" custom Kevlar woofers. The internal drivers are powered by a built-in dual class AB monolithic amplifier rated at 15 watts x 2 channels (RMS) and 30 watts x 2 channels (Peak).

All-Wood, Bass-Reflex Cabinet: The AudioEngine B2 Bluetooth speaker features a hand-finished all-wood cabinet for great sound quality and a traditional look. The cabinet features dual front-firing bass ports for greater efficiency and better bass response.

Aux Input: The B2 Bluetooth speaker is fitted with a 3.5mm auxiliary input for connecting a non-Bluetooth portable device with a headphone jack or analog audio output.

AC Power: The AudioEngine B2 Bluetooth speaker system operates on standard household current using the integrated power supply and included detachable 6' AC power cord.

Q
Can I use two of these speakers with my Yamaha R-N303 stereo?

A
These are powered speakers. They do not need an amplifier.

Q
I am considering an ION Air Bluetooth turntable and want to also stream from my iPhone. Has anyone actually done that yet?
mark  Nov 27, 2015

A
We only stream from Android and Iphone devices. Works great for streaming fromvthose devices. The quality is very good compared to anything in its size class and price range.

Q
The B2 has gotten great reviews. It is obviously a single speaker but does it provide a good, wide soundstage? Can you pick out individual singers and instruments in front of you?
craig  Aug 05, 2017

A
Yes you can, this speaker has the highs, midrange, and the lows. You can't go wrong with this system and it is very loud with little or no distortion.
douglas  Aug 05, 2017

I have had my B2 for a couple years. To me this speaker has a cheap "muffled echo" sound. I would not recommend it for music. I use mine for streaming television programs. I'm surprised this speaker is so highly rated. Volume control and power switch are on the back side which is very inconvenient.
craig  Aug 05, 2017
A
You will get some stereo separation if you are very close to the speaker, but soundstaging is not its forte. Having both channels in a single enclosure limits its abilities, but I do recommend it based on its high-quality sound.

Q
On the ION air bluetooth speaker, is there a radio (terrestrial) that I can plug into it?

A
Hello J.D.- I don't understand your question exactly. Do you want to stream a Bluetooth signal from a computer or smartphone or hook the speaker directly from a am-fm conventional local radio station radio with a hardwired cable plug connection? ??? In spite of the great reviews I do not really like the tone quality of the AE ION for music, Also, the controls are located on the back side of the speaker. And it is not- grab and go- portable for outside use. Very frustrating!! I would not buy another one. It does look very stylish. I do have 2 Bose Sound link III units for streaming music. I would highly recommend this speaker !! A Block Rocker is best for outside in the yard or at a cookout type party! I have one of these too.
craig  Apr 17, 2017
A
it accepts a line-level input via mini-plug, so if your outboard device has a mini-output, sure. It's a really nice well-made piece of gear by the way.
stuart  Apr 17, 2017
Q
Will unit stream from Amazon Alexia? Will speaker automatically turn on when Alexia wakes?
darrel  Sep 26, 2016
2 answers
A
The B2 is really old-school. There's a power switch, a volume knob, and a Bluetooth sync button. That's about it. It won't automatically turn on for anything.
dan  Sep 27, 2016
A
I can't answer that because I use mine with Bluetooth from my iPad. I do stream Amazon Music though. It sounds great!
ken  Sep 27, 2016
Q
Can mulitiple units be paired to one source streaming device?
jim  May 03, 2015
3 answers
A
Yes
larry  May 04, 2015
A
that depends on the source streaming device not the speaker does speaker can only be hooked to one source at a time but depending on your streaming source you may be able to run two or three at once
douglas h.  May 04, 2015
A
According to the Quick Start Guide only one device can be paired at one time. The unit can remember up to six devices.
