It's small, it's simple, and it sounds terrific. If you want big sound from one music source, such as a laptop computer, the IconAMP is a great way to go. If you want to connect more than one music source, mate the IconAMP with the Icon HDP preamp/USB DAC.
With 18 real watts per channel, the IconAMP will drive most bookshelf speakers to satisfying volume levels for desktop listening. You'll be surprised at the amount of power this little gem can deliver, in a form factor that won't crowd your desktop.
- 18 watts x 2 channels into 8 ohms at 0.02% THD
- 1 pair RCA analog audio inputs
- 5-way binding post speaker connectors (speaker wire not included)
- 1-1/4"W (3-3/8" on stand) x 6"H x 4-3/4"D
- weight: 1 lb.
- warranty: 1 year
- Our 60-day money-back guarantee
Everything you always wanted in a stereo receiver, except the radio
An integrated amplifier is essentially a receiver without a built-in AM/FM tuner. You get power to drive your speakers, audio controls, and inputs for music source components. Connect an iPod, a computer, a network music player, or any other device that can play Internet radio, and you may find you have no need for an AM/FM radio.
Nuforce Icon Amp Reviews
Average Customer Review:
Beautiful desktop sound
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
What started as a quest for nice computer speakers ended up with this Nuforce Icon amp and some Infinity Primus speakers. Wow, I will never look at anything cheap again. After reading a series of audiophile reviews on the Nuforce Icon series, I went with the purchase. The clarity of this system is amazing. For typical listening, I am running it at ~40% volume. No distortion. Turning it up to 50-60% volume ... no distortion. This amp is undeniably clear sounding and simple to use with its single volume knob. Highly recommend.
Pros: Awesome sound.
I wouldn't have believed it
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Just finished upacking, hooking up and listening to the Nuforce Icon. Connections were easy but would have been easier using banana plugs. Player: Sony DX C390; speakers: AR PS2052. Shipping time: excellent. I could not believe my ears when I turned the Icon on and listened to an old Nimbus 23-minute string orchestra selections with William Boughton; the sound just seemed to hang in the air. Next came a Mozart piano quartet with Malcolm Bilson on the fortepiano; again the sound was excellent. For those who have not had the joy of listening to the music directly without modification of the bass or treble, you really need to get the Icon. For people with limited space, this is the optimum solution. Have not tried the Icon with SACD disks but look forward to that sound experience. I suppose it can get better, but not much. A very happy camper, believe you me.
Another great NuForce product.
This is the second NuForce product I've purchased; the first being the Icon2 DAC for my personal computer. Being impressed by the quality of the Icon2 I looked at NuForce for a amplifier solution for my place of business, which is a tattoo shop. We have a system set up in the shop with a speaker distributor that splits the signal to five different stations with their own separate volume controls. I knew we didn't need another large amplifier as the only music that gets played is out of ipods and other small devices - and most large amplifiers on the market now are all geared towards 6.1 and 7.1 surround sound, which is not at all what we needed. This product is exactly what we needed. It pushes enough to make the music sound great (real 18W x 2, no RMS stuff) and the clarity of the music far surpasses most other bigger systems, as this amplifier is made for one purpose - to play music - and it's simplicity is a blessing in a world of "too many buttons." I highly recommend one of these if you want to just play your music and have it sound great.
