graceful solution for a sonos dac

bradbort from Somerville, MA on 6/24/2013

This DAC smooths out the Sonos presentation. I guess what folks would say is "more musical," although the built in Sonos connect DAC is not bad. Why use this one instead of any other DAC on the market. Its not just the cosmetics, although it is clearly made for the connect. For me, its that you don't have to worry about turning it on and off. Basically, once its attached, you keep using your connect just like you always would. The DAC sleeps when not in use, and turns on when the connect does.

Pros: Relatively inexpensive for a DAC, cosmetics, ease of use.

Cons: Not a night and day improvement. Don't upgrade a DAC unless you've already made sure your speakers and electronics merit it.

Thanks! Thats a disappointment. [ Branon  Feb 10, 2014 ]
Sadly, it doesn't. You get a message on the Sonos app something like "unable to play. this track wasn't encoded correctly". The product is an external DAC and makes your audio sound a little better. I can tell a bit of a difference. I guess if you were to use the Sonlink with some other setup it would work but the Sonos doesn't support 24 bit audio (hi res files). [ Lance  Jan 31, 2014 ]
