The Sound Ordnance B-12 loaded sub enclosure gives your sound system a decisive advantage in the battle for great sound. The 12" polypropylene woofer with its rubber surround offers big-time boom you can really feel, and the box comes fortified with rugged medium-density fiberboard construction for durability. Tough black carpeting keeps your car's interior free from abrasions, while the enclosure's recessed panels allow it to fit into more trunks and cargo spaces. Rounded inner corners on the slot vent minimize port noise, so you'll enjoy smooth, responsive bass.

The B-12 enclosure handles up to 250 watts RMS. Sound Ordnance backs the B-12 with a 3-year warranty so you can add it to your system with confidence. Match this enclosure with a suitable amplifier, secure it in your vehicle, and get ready for a bass barrage.

Product Highlights:

  • ported hatchback-style enclosure with one 12" subwoofer

Enclosed Subwoofers 101

An enclosed subwoofer is a box with a subwoofer already installed. The advantage to buying an enclosed sub is that the manufacturer made the sub, then designed and built the box as a perfect match, so you'll get the best possible performance. Every enclosed sub has a maximum RMS power handling rating, so pair it with an amp with a similar RMS power rating to get the best performance.

I have had this sub for almost 3 years now and it sounds just as good as the day I got it. And I use it on an almost daily basis. It his hard on rock and metal songs and the base on hip hop rap and techno songs is clear and powerful its a great buy. 100% recommend this product if it ever breaks I will for sure be buying another one.

Pros: Great sound, hard hits, great durability, looks awsome

This sub is so much more impressive than I was suspecting. It a replaced an Alpine that I had for several years that finally died. This sub sounds better than the Alpine ever did. It was easy to get dialed in and sounds great with any type of music. It can go from boomy to punchy very well. Also the build quality is superb. I am so happy I purchased it. Zero regrets. Only reason it got less than 5 stars on coolness factor is because it's not exactly a top brand. It's a bit large as well. But, if you need a new sub, but this one, you'll be glad you did.

Pros: Sounds excellent Fantastic build quality Great price

Cons: Large

Recently purchased this sub and paired it with the Sound Ordnance M-1500 amp. Very satisfied with this combination, it bumps just as good (if not better) than many of my friends systems who have spent a lot more money on Pioneer, JL, Kenwood, etc. Would highly recommend this to someone looking for a quick and easy upgrade to your system that has the best bang for your buck.

Pros: Sounds great Easy to install

Cons: Would change the front bars for a mesh screen

I got this to go with the Sound Ordnance M-2100 200W (bridged) amp. Works great. It fit just right against the rear seats in the trunk. Sound is just as good as some of the expensive Fosgates and Alpines I've used. And you just can't beat this price for an enclosure and sub.

Pros: Right size, right handling, right sound

Cons: The grill (just 2 bars across the face) isn't all that protective, I'm going to have to get a big mesh deal or it's going to get owned if I put anything in the trunk.

Replaced a box with 2 tens and this one sounds better and 1/2 the size of my old box. I have a Yukon with 60/40 split rear seat and it still allows me to put down the larger seat to carry larger cargo. The back of the box is angled so it fits closer to the rear seat freeing up cargo space compared to a square box.

Pros: Great sound, Great quality, Great Price,

Cons: none

Looks Nice. Sound Is Very Clean And Powerful. I am using a Kenwood Kac-5001PS which puts out 300w rms@4hms. Very nice combination for this sub. Was considering getting a second B-12 in the future but that is not going to be needed.

Pros: Clean, Loud, Looks Nice, Built Well

Cons: Zero

This sub-woofer surpassed my wildest dreams for what I expected. . Coupled with the Alpine MRX V70 amp and Pioneer Blue Tooth head unit, the B12 offers a perfect match for a 6.1 system that make it very difficult to leave the audio bliss of my Tahoe.

Pros: GREAT SOUND, GREAT PRICE

Im pleased with the product overall . It performs better then i thought it would. Not perfect but pretty much there. I have not compared it to another sub yet , but will do so next week..

Pros: Delivery, time, and packing was idea. Speaker seems to work fine.

Cons: a little to punchy but overall im very pleased. The speaker grill is not the best fit and one of the shields came out to easy. But a small issue. Size though is a bit more then i wanted but it is a 12.

Great bang for your buck!

This sub has the best sound quality in my opinion. I have many friends who have subs; JL, kicker, pioneer, and jbl subs and i always find my self judging their systems in comparison to mine. In my system the bass isnt over or under powered in comparison to the rest of my other speakers they all just flow together. I simply love my system. This sub puts life into what ever you are listening to. I love music so i listen to hip hop, dubstep, rap, rock, classical pretty much every genre out there except country and no matter what im listening to the bass is always their bumping away. I highly doubt anyone would regret buying this and how could you for the price!? The only things i've noticed is some songs frequencies make the S/O badge on the front have a little vibrating noise but you just turn it down a notch and it goes away also i've had a couple pieces of the fiberboard come out of the port but both times it happened i was off roading blaring my jams so i cant blame it all on the sub. Great sub for sound, price, and looks, Buy it!

Pros: The bass will almost always make you smile. You can really tell how every song has a different bass in it. unlike some subs that create the same bass for every song. Great sub not much more you can say then that.

Cons: certain songs make badge vibrate, some pieces of box came out port (may have been my fault) and it is kinda of big but for the sound it produces i don't care.

This subwoofer enclosure is built very well and is actually pretty small for a ported 12" driver enclosure. Definitely measure before purchasing but you will be hard pressed to find a smaller ported 12" enclosure. The only nitpick I have on the construction is that the 2 bars mounted to protect the woofer may prove insufficient if you have things in your trunk that might fit between them. A standard grille cover would have been preferred. As far as sound quality, well, it's a ported enclosure so it is definitely boomy and can be muddy where quick successive bass thuds are involved. It's pretty much not going to work for metal music and possibly some higher BPM electronic music. The product meets the advertise frequency response. If you expect to hear frequencies below 45hz look elsewhere or augment this enclosure. You can set your crossover points right to the advertised response which is relatively flat across its narrow spectrum.

Pros: Great build quality. Unbelievable shipping speed. Unbeatable price to value.

Cons: Woofer is relatively unprotected. Ported enclosures do not offer the most accurate music reproduction. Not necessarily a ding on this product just a warning. Missing lowest frequencies (although this is clearly advertised).

This sub and box combo is unbeatable! The box is tuned, in my opinion to play just about every kind of music out there and sound great! The box is sturdy, very attractive and fits nicely just about anywhere and it sounds great with a small or large power amp. Its simply a very friendly easy to tune great sounding all around sub at a great price!

Pros: Great sub and box combo at a great price and fast shipping!

Cons: None.

I was worried about getting this at first but let me also like the many others tell you this thing will bump. I have a 1999 Nissan Altima gle and it absolutely fills out my system and gives it a more than expected boost. It is clean and punchy when it needs to be and it can also be low and boomy. I'm only running a 350 watt kenwood amp at 150 rms@4ohms and its awesome. The speaker still delivers big bass and its ready for more watts. shakes more things than i expected it to in my car. My poor third break light takes a beating on my rear windshield haha. Everything on my rear view mirror vibrates and bounces. Also mine was the scratch and dent and I'm fully satisfied with the whole thing being perfect but a 3 cm scratch on the cone. Haha GREAT PRODUCT BUY IT NOW!!!!!!

Pros: Everything.

Cons: None so far and I don't expect there to be.

I love this speaker! I listen to all really all kinds of music from Dubstep to Country and this speaker can handle it all. I was a little worried about not going with one of the major brands when I purchased this but after I hooked everything up and did my first sound test I was blown away at the amount of bass it put out. I ordered it along with a Sound Ordnance M-1350 amp and the combo was great. I have owned these since 2011 and they are still as awesome as the day I bought them.

Pros: Killer bass for not much money

Cons: There are no cons with this speaker at all!

Bought for my 2003 mazdaspeed protege looks just right in the trunk, paired with soundstream 500w sounds amazing for the price.

Pros: Vented box makes the bass carry nicely. Great for electronic, classic rock and jazz. Very attractive box as well. Box is slanted in back fits nicely against back seat.

Cons: Not for metal or rap music though. Pretty big

I bought this sub to add a little bit of bass to my car (92 Accord), and got waaaaayyyyy more than what i thought i paid 90 bucks for. the sub box itself is pretty large and takes up a large amount of space in my trunk. but it is very loud and boomy. coming from sealed boxes i'm used to my bass being tight and punchy, but this doesn't offer that, its very boomy. it is great for dubstep and oldschool rap (my main genres) it also takes my tiny amp very well.

Pros: loud good for dubsep/ oldschool rap

Cons: not very accurate

Excellent Sub, but it is quite large. I tried the install in a 2007 FJ Cruiser and it takes nearly half the available space. The look/sound/construction are all top notch. Although I ended up with a Kicker box that was slim and the same price, I know I lost some of the depth this SO Sub would have offered.

This is a great starter sub that comes in it's own well built enclosure and for the price I don't really think it can be beat. The reason I give it a 3/5 for audio quality are for two reasons...(1) The sub has problems hitting the very low notes (>45 hz). Don't get me wrong it can hit them and you are aware that they are there but not enough for my taste. (2) Since this sub is in a ported box it has a resonant frequencies which are very noticeable. On some notes in a song the bass is just right and then the next the whole car is flooded with bass. For some who like really boomy bass I guess this could be a pro, but for someone like me who prefers tight and clean bass it isn't ideal. Either way, for a starter sub this is a great buy. The build quality seems very good. I haven't opened anything up yet so I can't comment on the internals but Sound Ordnance seems like a very decent brand. I have been happy with this sub for over 2 years now but I think it's time for me to upgrade to a 15 inch in a sealed enclosure driven by ~500 watts RMS. For anybody starting out that wants a cheap sub that can definitely bump and hold its own get this sub. For the price it's a good deal either way.

Pros: good build quality, sturdy and durable- i don't see this breaking unless you do something crazy to it, hits most notes well, definitely adds to the overall experience, very cheap and comes with enclosure, decent power

Cons: has noticeable resonant frequencies which make some notes much more boomy than others, has problems hitting the really low notes that I enjoy the most (most people may not even know these notes exist in songs unless they have heard them on a good system though)

I have a 2005 Dodge Durango and my OEM deck recently died, so I had a budget of $300 to build a basic system to add to the already installed Infinity speakers. I bought a JVC HD deck and a JVC 400wt amp and this awesome Sub set up. I am extremely impressed!! It will thump your brains out for the price, the bass is clean! I've never owned, but always wanted a sub for my car. I finally picked up a decent used 4 channel amp to bridge and power a small sub. I don't normally listen to very loud music and I don't listen to modern music but was looking for something to make my Eric Clapton come to life.

It's like listening to music for the first time. I can't believe how much it adds to the music... Even songs I've heard a hundred times come to life with "the bottom" that's been missing. Turning the volume up a bit really adds the punch. I picked this sub up because the ratings were good and the price was right. I

I was not disappointed. I am considering getting another for my 2nd car. Can't go wrong.

Overall this sub is quite well, it thumps pretty good for only 250 RMS. Yes it does shake your mirrors, but no it is no amazingly loud that it hurts your ears. My friends love it although i'm looking to upgrade soon. Over all i would give it a 3.5 out of 5 not because it's not a good sub because it really is great. But because simply there is a lot better subwoofers out there. So its a great starting sub though!! Also it hits mids very well! Highs are decent and lows are okay too! Grant

Pros: Mids Size Thumps Shakes Mirrors

Cons: Not That loud

This sub is hooked up to my M2100 and after a few weeks of breaking in, it is sounding (feeling) more like it should, but still not completely.

Don't expect your rear-view mirror to vibrate like crazy, I have this in my trunk and unfortunately it can't seem to penetrate the back seat very well which kind of upsetting to me (I do drive with the seat down occasionally but then I hear it more than I feel it). I have the low pass filter on to everything under 70, but standing outside of my car with the trunk closed, I hardly notice anything; it is almost like it isn't even there. For the price this is amazing and I would buy it again, but if you want your car to shake, I might recommend the B-24 or a sub rated atleast 500W+. For 250W (and only being powered at 200W) I would have to say that it performs well.

Honestly, for the price, this is one good sub.

Pros: Price! Plus it fits very nicely in my trunk in my honda civic 2010 sedan

Cons: Not as powerful as I would have hoped for, but it does give my music that small extra kick I was looking for. I feel like, even with the Low Pass filter on pretty low, it picks up more mids that it should. In other words, the bass it is pushing out seems like it is missing something.

i got this on sale with free shipping and it is paired with Sound ordnance 250W amp, and it rattle my trunk like crazy, i can feel the bass, trust me only one of this is enough, and if you have an SUV, then you will get a better sound, because in car, some of the bass is sucked by the back seat.

Pros: none

Cons: super quality bass, not so big, but not so small (after all its 12 inch sub). Built quality is great and woofer quality is on par with bigger brand with cheap price tag.

Amazing!!

I've never had a sub-woofer before so i can't really compare this to anything, but it was way bigger than i expected!! check your dimensions before you buy!!

either way combined this with an alpine mrp m500 off of Craigslist and a new head unit, and i can feel the bass in my chest, and my rear view mirror shakes like no other!! it's an amazing thing and extremely easy to set up, just push down, plug in, and you're good!!!

this was my first ever install, and everything went well so i highly recommend this sub-woofer! plus it looks really bad ass in the trunk!

Pros: hits hard, loud makes me smile

Cons: bit bigger than i expected, but that's my fault for not checking dimensions!!!

AWESOME!

Needed a good sub but l didn't want to spend a lot of money. l'm a die-hard Kicker fan but l read the reviews on this sub and decided to give it a try. l have it in a minivan and its powered by a Kenwood amp that l also bought from Crutchfield. l LOVE this subwoofer!!!! lt fills the minivan with deep clean bass, be it reggae, R & B, or just movies.

Pros: Everything.

Cons: None.

I had bought one of these originally with a poineer monoblock, it pounded. My buddy got 2 JL W3's and was bragging to everybody and my system couldnt compare. Well i did some research, figured out you could wire these in paralle and it would still work. So i made sure it wouldnt damage my sub/amp or anything and even talked to crutchfield about it. They said it would be great, so i ordered another one. I hooked up both B12's in paralle and thegy ran at 300rms 2ohms. Let me tell you something, i have them in a Gmc envoy and they pound harder thanm my buddys JL's! I spent a total of 300 dollars on my system and it pounds way harder than systems double that! I can hit 135-140 db's in an open suv! Dont miss on this buy and i suggest you do what i did. I PROMISE you wont be dissapointed!

Pros: No need for breakin in, Pounds the port, clean sound

Cons: None yet!

I'm no audiophile or big money spender - in fact my entire "stealth iPod" system cost under $350 for amp, sub, 4 speakers, iPod mount, and all the cabling. I'm running the sub off bridged (rear/sub channel) signal out of the Sound Ordnance M4075 75W x 4 Car Amplifier.

All things considered, I suppose a dual voice coil sub would provide a "truer" sound profile, but come on...this thing is in my trunk anyway and it hits plenty hard for me. It fills out low volumes perfectly and comes on like a freakin' canon when you push it !!!

Pros: perfect low end at low volumes, hits hard when you push it, easy hookup

Cons: none

I usually stick with brand name speakers for my car but after reading the reviews on this I decided to give it a try. I am replacing two 12" Kicker CVRs with it in my Subaru Outback and it sounds just as good if not better than the two 12's. Very happy with my decision. Can't wait to break it in all the way and listen to it really shine! Will be buying more SO gear for my car and friend's car's.

Pros: Amazing sub! Great sound! Built well!

Cons: Top logo is lame.

this subwoofer is amazing i was skeptical at first thinking to myself what? sub woofer for $60 with good reviews hooblah no way that ll be good! but i decided to go ahead and trust the general public and of course to my great surprise i was blown away by the quality of this product. in fact it was so good that i decided to go out and buy a second one just because i had money left over and was 100% pleased with the first one. if you are looking for an easy to use great sounding low cost sub woofer than look no more. BUY IT omg buy it do it you know you want to and psssh even if you aren't pleased with it (which you will be) its only this much? what do you have to loose?

Pros: its simple to install and sounds perfect.

Cons: the 3 days i had to wait to get it

This is my second sub. My first was a 12" Kicker CompVR I had it for about four years until my system got jacked. I wanted some bass in my car (geo prism) but didn't want to spend a lot of money this time around.

Installation was simple, I paired this sub with a little 250w rms amp and it hits hard.

I don't want to say it hits harder then my Kicker did, as my kicker was really underpowered, but this sub has blown me away. It is much louder and cleaner then my previous system and only cost me about half the price.

If you want something good that will sound great this buy this sub.

Pros: Really good for what you pay!

Cons: Nothing

I have a 2008 Chevy Colbalt Special Edition Coupe. The sub didn't fit my trunk opening, but I folded down the back seats and squeezed it in there quite nicely.. THIS SUB HITS HARD. Do not let the $90 pricetag fool you, the sub is capable of producing great sound ranking up with Alpine, Sony, and kicker subwoofers. Quite possibly the best deal on crutchfield. The M-1500 SoundOrdinance amp sold on crutchfield pairs up perfect with this product. I installed this also with one of Crutchfield's JVC single din radios with auxilliary input. A MUST BUY- for anyone wanting to boost up their stock sound system.. for a good price.

Pros: Simple hookup, great price, great construction, great quality of sound.

Cons: nothing.

Installation was super easy. The instructions couldn't have been more helpful, they show great step by step procedures. I have two of these installed in my 2004 Pontiac Sunfire and they hit really hard. I have a SO 1500 amp and it works perfectly with the two subs. I'm so glad that I decided to get two of the Sound Ordnance instead of any other kind, I'm very happy with them. I also love the price! :)

Pros: It was really easy to install and the sound is great!

This was the first sub I ever purchased and probably going to be the best. The price was skeptical at first but I took a chance to buy this product. It came packaged in two boxed and not a scratch or dent on it. Carpeted very nice with designs and the bars in front of it keep it from breaking up. Just hooked up the sub today and it responds nice and has so much bass for just one 12" I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to replace or just get a subwoofer.

Bought to replace previous sub. For price was skeptical but turns out to be deal of a lifetime.. Out of the box-Amazing. Even played low it is far superior to my previous box. Can't wait to really pump. Shaking my rear view mirror is blissful. Would highly recommend and I put it through the paces with pure bass music. Passed EPMD's "So What you Sayin" with flying colors. BTW, I have this in a Grand Caravan which is a WAY bigger sound field than a car so in a car I could only imagine

I don't usually write reviews unless a product completely blows me out of the water or if it really fails to meet any expectations. I have also been installing car audio components since the mid 90's in all of my cars. I have never heard such a small sub in size and price hit has hard as this. I have it hooked up to a 300 watt Kenwood amp bridged (that is probably 10 years old) and turned ALL the way down. It hits extremely hard. I could not imagine having two of these in my car. Great sub at a great price! Thanks Crutchfield!!!!

looks very good in my 2001 honda crv. good sound, very responsive. i dont have

the price this is a great sub. i like good hard hitting bass, but not the kind
of bass that makes it so you cant hear the mids or highs. perfect for me. if

1996 Geo Metro, Pioneer Headunit, 2x Pioneer 6.5in 3-way, SO B-12 sub, SO M-1500 Amp

For an Entry-Level system or a new vehicle setup, the B-12 and M-1500 are a perfect match. I
have a more bass then I know what to do with. You can really FEEL it. And yes, because it is
ported, it sounds much better with Rap & Hip-Hop then with Rock or Heavy Metal.

I am very happy with my purchase and recommend the B-12 to others looking for a quality
subwoofer at an affordable price.

Hard Hitting

Written By CoryJ, Chattanooga, TN on Friday, December 24, 2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just connected this sub to my Rockford Fosgate 150s (150 watts RMS) and I'm
pleased with the sound and quality. It's not going to rattle my bumper, but it
does exactly what I expected - provide full sounding, hard hitting bass. I
considered buying the more compact Kicker so that I could place it on the floor
in the back of my four door '03 Toyota Tacoma but decided to go with the Sound
Ordnance because of the great price.

In my opinion, the whole World War bomber theme that Sound Ordnance has adopted
is extremely cheesy and was somewhat of a turn off for me, however I knew that
Crutchfield would not endorse a sub par product (no pun intended...haha!)

I gave this product a five star rating based on my entire experience with
Crutchfield. I have been a customer for over 20 years now and they always
deliver exceptional products and service. If you're looking for deep, hard
hitting bass on a budget, I recommend this sub.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

i went throught every sound ordnance sub except the b24s.......just wasn't enough bass for me but still great products. didnt want the b24s bc i am a big fan of ported boxes. to get the best sound out of a ported box it's best to get speakers that's made with that ported box bc its easy to mess up the sound with ported or band pass.
So i got two B12 AND MAN THESE SUBWOOFERS BANG. I have the m1500 sound ordnance amp pushin them. 500 watts at 2ohms. i would recommend this sub to everybody.....SOUND ORDNANCE NUMBER 1. THREE YEAR WARRANTY....THAT'S WATSUP.

All around Awesome

Written By Xbad26, Augusta, GA on Tuesday, September 14, 2010

I was very skeptical about buying this speaker. I hadn't heard of Sound Ordnance before, but had seen that they are Crutchfield's line of equipment. I thought the sales associate was pushing the Sound Ordnance a lot more than anything else and figured that must be because Crutchfield makes more when their own stuff is bought; however, I was very impressed w/ the 3 year warranty as opposed to every other brand's 1 year. To me, that speaks a lot about the product.

Anyways, I bought the B-12 w/ the Kenwood KAC-8105D amp and I am completely blown away. It doesn't matter what kind of music you are listening to, the B-12 (w/ the proper amp, I'd say 250-300 RMS) can be the perfect low-range compliment or can wake the neighbors if you want. No need for LOUDNESS. Apparently the LOUDNESS feature is meant to enhance the sound when listening to music at low levels, and if thats what you want, don't worry. The B-12 sounds amazing at any level, as long as you know how to set the lpf, hpf, sensitivity, etc.

The box and speaker are obviously high quality and look awesome too. Takes up about 1/3 of my trunkspace in my 2003 Lancer. You are going to spend at least another $100- 200 for the same quality w/ another brand. Completely amazed and satisfied.

Awesome Sub

Written By Mark, LC, NM on Wednesday, August 11, 2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This Sub replaced a Rockford Fosgate sub I had and this Sub sounds way better than that sub,It hits harder, deeper and cleaner. I had to turn down the gain on my Amp because it was hitting way harder and louder than the Rf Sub did and it still needs to be broken in so I am sure it is really going to sound sweet then. I was unsure at first because I never heard of Sound Ordinance but after I found out it was Crutchfield's line, I decided to give it a shot and I am very, vary happy with this sub. It has very good bass and is not boomy for being a ported enclosure. The enclosure looks very nice also and looks very well built. I like good clean bass that is clear and crisp and this sub will surprise you at the sound quality it puts out.

Simply Amazing

Written By Anonymous, Cape Coral, FL on Friday, June 11, 2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I took a chance on buying this. What can you expect? Happily I can say with this
unit....ALOT. Taking it out of the box I was impressed with the build quality of the cabinet.
It is really solid and well finished. The subwoofer itself is a nice design. The surround is
made of heavy rubber with a spiral design. I believe this was done to control excessive
cone excursion. But enough about how it looks. How it sounds is AWESOME. I replaced
a Pioneer 10" sub that was in a sealed box. This sub being ported is more efficient but
without being too boomy. I actually had to dial back the gain on my 190W bridged Profile
amp. With a 3 year warranty you can't beat it. Another big win for Crutchfield! I would
highly recommend this sub for anyone looking for great bass for a great price!
